Glad I got the SE Manual when I walked into toyota 3 years ago. I was gonna get the XSE but I saw the car next to it having a stick shift. I asked the sales guy what’s the difference besides the transmission. He said no blind spot monitoring, analog speedometer and odometer, fabric seats and a few more I couldn’t remember. I said to myself; I would even give up the moonroof if I have to just to get that manual. 3 years later I still yell out brooom brooom! As I change gears going 35 mph (speed limit) on my way to work.

Can still get a new Versa Manual for like $17k which is only $3k more than a 1995 Corolla while offering more performance, safety, tech, space, etc. So it's not all bad could almost say the only thing that went up is real estate

My wife's gently-driven, dealer-serviced 2018 Mini Cooper with 59,000 miles on it blew a valve and the repair was $8,500. My Toyota truck has 250,000 miles on it and I convinced her to get a Toyota. This car is the perfect blend of affordability and sportiness. I took off the Toyota badging and replaced them with Lexus badging - LOL. Some people would not believe it but in a Mini Cooper you cannot drive from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on a single tank of gas. I guess the upright windshield on the Mini Cooper does not like going 80 to 100 miles per hour. When I drive her Corolla I don't like the CVT but overall this is a great car for the money. And I'm sure it's going to last more than 59,000 miles! P.S. I test-drove a $50,000 John Cooper Works Mini Cooper and it did NOT have power seats like this Corolla 😂

You would be surprised my friend, it's the consumer that gives me the most grief for producing this kind of content. You would think honesty is the best policy especially when reviewing a product such as a car which is tens of thousands of dollars, but the consumer is not interested in truth at all it seems. What they want is a nice fluffy review which is a commercial disguised as a review. They don't want to hear anything negative at all, these are from fully grown adults as well, they have receded back into being children I guess.

I tried to reserve a 2023 hatch but Toyotas aren’t sending them anymore, so it’ll be a 2024. I was told there aren’t any changes with the 2024. Just sucks because insurance will be more because it’s a newer model. They said the next one that comes in will be offered to me. Been waiting for close to 1 month already. Thank goodness my friend is letting me borrow is car in the meantime!

    • @AJ-ox9xj

I was able to reserve my 2023 hatch XSE with a $500 deposit. I had to wait about a month and 1 week. I was lucky because it was already on the way without anyone having it reserved yet, and it was exactly the color way I wanted. If you have to custom order, it takes a lot longer. Lucky for me, the guy I was dealing with said he always ordered 2 of every car that was custom ordered, and I reserved the extra as soon as I saw it listed online. If you really want the older model, just buy used and try to talk down a little. It's still going to feel and look brand new.

I have a quick question. Does your Corolla allow you to flip the speedometer and odometer between miles and KMs and back again or are the US models fixed in miles, Japanese, Aussie and Canuck etc fixed in KMs? And do you know if you can also change the language on the screen?
The GR Corolla is not on sale here in the UK so I was just checking how feasible it would be to import one from Japan and if the displays can be changed for the language and units? We're slightly different to the other countries because we are left hand drive, right hand steering wheel like Japan but we use miles and MPH like the US and not KMs like the rest of the world.

And thank you my friend for your thoughts and concern. Sadly there is really nothing that can be done as I'm pretty much black listed by every auto maker 😅

Funniest thing is, my content helps these companies more than other channels since I'm partnered with one of the largest auto brokers in the country, I provide buyers 1000s if not tens of thousands of dollars in savings for new car purchases and these companies still play me like this.

My Japan-built TNGA gen 2020 Corolla SE sedan developed a handful of problems/issues during the 2 years & 10K miles that I kept it, & I came to the conclusion that Toyota doesn't built them like they used to. Finally tried my first Mazda in early 2022 & have been almost 2 years now with no problems/issues whatsoever. But, blindly trusting any brand these days is just foolish, considering how different all the mechanicals/tech is now from even 10-20 years ago, & how automakers are apparently cutting more small corners than ever to offset all those various tech feature costs.

The Ford Fusion hybrid uses a Prius powertrain, so if you buy one of these used it might cost the same as a new Corolla hybrid, with more comfort for the 15 mpg less from the extra weight. Some say at about 175 thousand miles they start to become more of a money pit, especially if the big battery or generator fails. New Priuses cost more, are faster, and look better, but some say they prefer the Corolla for the better visibility and better steering. The Maverick or Santa Cruz trucks are competitors, but Ford makes very few to try to push buyers into a more profit for them Ranger or F-150, and avoid the dual clutch automatic transmission and turbo in the top trim Santa Cruz for more reliability.

Thanks Kevin, I do like the way the climate control has it's own physical buttons, the wireless charger though it looks like your phone will fly off of it though. As to Kevin's merch, peeps I have the hats and short sleeved T-shirts with long sleeves on the way, the hats look nice on and fit well whilst being very comfortable, the T-shirts I've not tried yet as it's winter here but the screen printing is done well and the material is a light weight which should be nice a cool during summer months, once the long sleeve shirts arrive I shall edit this comment with a report on them. As promised I'm editing this comment with my findings now that I have all the merch, just follow the instructions for washing and drying as I have and the items have held up wonderfully, they did not shrink and as such I'm very happy and would recommend this merch to anyone.

Only major flaw I found with the Corolla is that the CVT is one of the worst I have driven; not sure if the hybrid corolla has a different CVT. It never seems to know what gear ratio to be in and will either spin up at random times or lug when you want to accelerate.

Facts and them mpg numbers are bullshit. I have a 22 nightshade hatchback cvt and the best mpg I have seen is 30.3 and some people may say that’s good but that is not what it’s rated for. And I had before that a 2020 Honda civic ex-l hatchback with the 1.5L turbo motor and a cvt and I got 35.7 mpg. And the civic I had had more horsepower. It’s confusing and yes the cvt in my Corolla is clunky especially when it’s cold outside.

Toyota made a huge mistake by eliminating the manual, the cvt has ruined the reliability aspect of the brand.
Wake up Toyota, either a traditional automatic transmission or manual only belongs in your vehicles.

  • @NVRAMboi
    @NVRAMboi 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Toyota took away the manual transmission option. Even with the small/miniscule 'take rate' of buyers choosing it, I think it's unfortunate that Toyota removed the choice completely. It's as if they're turning their backs on a large part of the company's legacy/history. And what a great history it was for Toyota USA in the 1970's, '80's moving forward.
Not the end of the world, but just unfortunate. I always hoped to have a Corolla Hatchback XSE (manual) at some point. Perhaps I'll be able to find a nice pre-owned if/when the time comes.

None of these cars are “fun” a Porsche gt3 is fun and nothing in this class will ever be “fun” like that. Honda & Mazda are good and honestly better than this Toyota they just feel serious and dull. The Toyota just has a light hearted spirit about it but people aren’t car reviewers so they don’t understand these concepts right away or have the experience being in every type of car on the road.
