This man is so dedicated to his craft he even dressed to match the car.
All they needed to do was to add AWD and a 2.0L turbo engine with *at least* 210hp
thats why theyre making the GR Corolla. which will cost upwards of 38k..... this isnt meant to be a sports vehicle, The GR will be ! like the yaris
I just bought a 2022 Toyota Corolla SE sedan 6 speed manual/ moonroof / 2.0 motor - . Stock 169 horsepower 😂 and I’m gonna try to get mine to 200 hp without anything crazy 😀
I have the flame blue w/midnight black roof in 6mt and absolutely LOVE it! Fun car to drive and that flame blue color just pops.
What did you need to do to find your car? I'm looking for that same spec (in SE) but I haven't seen one in inventory yet
I don‘t really know why, but I like this review style. It‘s calming. Do more of those. Also, when driving the car, please let us hear more of the engine and sounds, there is no music needed 😊
Nice format on this, Eric! Very big time feel video. The car overall looks great. Can't say I love the stuck on screen, but I do appreciate the physical buttons. I hope we get some of the sportier versions!
I have had this car for 3 months or so and I love it. A blast to drive and you didn't mention how comfy the seats were too!
A Corolla hatch 2.0 with 6-speed manual can be a fun car
A GR Corolla would be so cool!
The ZUPR4 is even less sportier than the Z4 because Toyota doesn't offer a stick shift lol. The Z4 is an ultimate hairdresser's car but it has a stick shift option.
What’s funny is that the design of the new corolla and Corolla hatch really stuck out to me at the Chicago auto show back in February, and I really dig the XSE, adds a bit of sport to the aggressive new look
Great review my dream car I was a little scared when you was showing us the car stopping at the last minute 😂
Wish they would just bring the 4 wheel drive Yaris with the 4cylinder rally engine to North America
It looks like a fun car! + the 6-spd manual. Imagine the dealership markup though 😒
I have a '04 T Sport. It' s an amazingly fun vehicle. Modern cars don't have the same character as older ones do. The GR Yaris looks super fun though.
I bought a ‘24 Corolla SE sedan which is extremely similar to this hatch and I love it, great little car. It isn’t a sports car but it really is a joy to drive. If you can get one for MSRP without dealer add-ons it’s a great value at the price.
nice looking hatchback, I'd buy it because of the blue color.. this is fire 🔥
Eric, really good, professional review. I like your style and I am a subscriber. I actually bought a 2021 a Corolla Hatchback with a 6 speed manual in silver Metallic with a black metallic roof and I love it. Your review is spot on. I particularly enjoyed the coverage of the radar distance following feature and how you actually tested it in the real world. I traded a very cool 2012 VW Jetta Sportwagen with 80K miles, a TDI (turbo diesel) and a DSG (dual clutch transmission), but as German cars do, they cost you, eventually. I know. I have owned many. I love them for what they are. I, however, have no regrets. This Corolla is sporty, especially with the manual transmission. It should be very dependable and low on maintenance costs. It is a Toyota after all.
Glad you're enjoying the Corolla. They're great little cars. Here's my IS 350 F Sport review if you're interested th-cam.com/video/i0Jzips-4ZU/w-d-xo.html
Waiting for a GR 4WD version of this.
Imagine if the reviewer had even mentioned the existence of the "sport" button and its effects on the transmission especially in manual mode the shifts in sports mode are crisp and quick. Steering is also more responsive and so is the engine mapping curve. If you can only afford ONE vehicle and want the "best" of both fun vehicle and practicality, it will be hard to beat this car.
There's actually no shifting. This has a CVT aka continuously variable transmission. Pressing sport will raise the engine revs and change the gear 'ratio' and throttle mapping. Thanks for the comment all these years later.
I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla I had it for 10yrs traded in my ford thunderbird because the engine started smoking it was not good for my 2yr old to be in that because of that and every time I got a ford it broke down a year later but years later I still have my Corolla still runs like a charm I never had major problems only just needed a alternator but this car is in good shape and I alway kept it nice and clean my son is 12 now he likes are Corolla but it’s not only personal car I have a 2002 Kia Rio got in December 4th 2013 I have a 2000 Toyota Avalon had it since January 4th 2016 back on March 17 2018 I got tboned on it lucky for me I had full coverage for it to get fixed it got fixed it just looks the same look before the accident I really like my cars and I will take well good Care of it and Will keep them as long till they start braking witch may not happen
A fun Corolla is making a comeback
Can’t wait for GR Corolla!
A GR Corolla would be cool, but no confirmation of it coming to North America.
Moisesezequiel Gutierrez that would be nice I was hoping for a turbo with AWD that would be a Subie killer!
@@basithph8958 A budget Subie killer is nice. Really nice for what you like for the new Corolla.
RWD is all I want for all. Nothing more nothing less. I just want them atleast back from RWD once just like the past, since RWD Corollas is what made me love the Corolla line up. The new "KE70" or "AE86" of the modern era.
I have the 2019 version, same flame blue color with the CVT. I like it overall, however i do wish I had more room in the back. I can get my bike in there with the back seats flipped but not much else. As you mentioned, if you're thinking of this as a weekend camping trip type hatchback it will disappoint. Otherwise I'm very happy with it so far, especially with the mileage.
Ill maybe buy 1 in 10 years
I like the Corolla hatchback. Needs a version with a little more power and for some reason, the "infotainment" screen looks like an afterthought, like it was added after they started making the dash. 🤷♂️
How a vehicle that size can lack the room of my 2010 Honda Fit is beyond me.
Now would you pick this or a new Mazda 3 hatch?
Also did you ever drive a 2005 corolla xrs? It my car and having a 2zzge in it with a 6 speed is amazing
I must say I REALLY like the Mazda3. I'd have to drive them back to back to say. Very tough call! I have not driven that particular Corolla but the 2ZZ-GE is such a great engine and an icon for good reason.
Wish older years had hatch i have a 17 was looking at focus until the dual clutch bs... Here same issues mine now people have control arm bushings make hella noise hope i can get it under warranty still
I like the Corolla and Avalon lot more than the Yaris and Prius
The new Corolla looks hot, not gonna lie. I can't wait for its "GR" version (if it's ever gonna happen). I bet it'll have a RWD in that one.
Thought the CVT that it has on it is good _but_ it's still a CVT.
We would all love a GR version but if you want RWD that’s simply not going to happen.
Moisesezequiel Gutierrez im pretty sure their going to put the GR badge for the Yaris. Toyota wants to keep the corolla there icon reliable car so i don’t think they will put a turbo in it sadly.
I would have bought one if I had money.
I’ve been looking at these heavy might need the first car I get off a lot
I got nervous af at (8:23) lol
Nice
Would be perfect for me if it had sunroof and heated rear seats! Love this car
if it had 2 doors i'd love it, but as of now, i only like it.
edit: also the screen and HVAC controls need to swap places and turn the screen up and towards the driver.
edit 2: i feel like it's a little weird to test the safety stopping feature(s) on the road like that for a review. not saying you should put one of your own cars at risk, but i dont think ive seen another reviewer do that, so it may be your only option - and i know you were "ready" to stop the car, but still... i think it's okay to test some of the other safety features like lane keep, but the ones that put yourself and others at risk is a little sketch.
My foot was literally on the brake pedal the whole time. The car started to stop with room to spare.
@@revmatchtv i hear ya, maybe it's just me not trusting the tech. i own a 94 and a 97, and this car is much safer clearly, but i like many others dont want people relying on features like that to keep them safe. "defensive" driving seems to be quite difficult when cars keep taking away "full" control over everything.
You can turn off all those safety features. I have them in my car as well but I prefer to rely on myself. Most drivers are not a aware though.
Eh just fold the seats down in the back and lock the back doors. There you go 2 door 🤪🤪🤪
Is this new cvt more sporty feeling then an actual automatic?
It feels very similar to an automatic. I don't think the average driver will notice much difference. The physical first gear makes it feel much more responsive. Yes, I'd prefer a manual - but nearly all of these will be sold with the CVT.
Deff wish I got this instead camry my friends base corolla made in Japan low end model got mirror defrost better ac better interior quality then camry. Interior roomy simple good material no extra bs.
Needs more panda stripes and dark alloy rims.
I like the lines quite a bit. It will be interesting to see what the aftermarket does.
So your screen size facts are off.. at least in America. They all have the same 8 inch infotainment screen. SE and XSE.
What is the tow capacity? Front wheel or all wheel drive?
This is front wheel drive. Towing capacity is zero. This is not a powerful engine. This is from the manual:
"Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with
your vehicle. Toyota also
does not recommend the
installation of a tow hitch or
the use of a tow hitch carrier
for a wheelchair, scooter,
bicycle, etc. Your vehicle is
not designed for trailer towing or for the use of tow
hitch mounted carriers."
Wish this Corolla would come to Malaysia.. Hmm, too bad hatchback market for Malaysia kinda meh.. 😔
I want a Subaru Forester with a Toyota Engine & Toyota 6 speed manual Transmission , no sunroof &
less safety electronics . Yes more Aluminum.
"I'm Sailing !" , " I'm Sailing ! " Oh , yes I want one of those fold up small Bicycles ( Aluminum ) with a
banana seat , yes definitely a Banana seal.
Where is this road??
Will a adult bike fit with the seats down? If yes, how many bikes?
Maybe you fit 2 bikes in there with the front wheels off. It's best to check out the specs first and measure your bikes. I'd say it will be tight.
So quick question do all of the models have apple car play and wireless charging?
All models currently have apple car play but not all have wireless charging
I thought that FOR blue was RESERVED for SUBARU............? Nice though:) FINALLY TOYOTA listened to me and DID not put in that SUNROOF--------FINALLY, and thank you TOYOTA:)
"Normally" aspirated...? Lol
They had to step up because the civic was on point but ugly, Toyota looks nice, they just need turbo
@3:54 did he say normally aspirated not Naturally aspirated
I'll excuse myself. Andreas Preuninger just did it too a SavageGeese video. He's the head of Porsche GT.
Corollas of ten years ago were handsome, simple, reliable cars. WHAT HAPPENED?
10 years happened. I’ll take this over the 2010 personally. I think it looks great.
@@revmatchtv Well, it looks better than the 2021 Toyota GR Supra. Overall, you know as well as I do that many folks have commented on the weird design of Toyota vehicles in the past five years, especially the BIG FISH MOUTH front grilles that are grossly overdone.
There are classic principles of design that Toyota routinely violates nowadays, such as "form follows function." Just compare a 2014 Camry with the current model. In any case, we don't agree, but I thank you for your comment.
It’s not just Toyota, look at all the German cars too. It’s an industry trend. Some do it better than others. The new BMW M4 is a bad example of this. I think Audi does it best right now.
@@revmatchtv, Yes, though VW's current models have a simple, clean design. (I am not referring to reliability.) Also, some Honda models now have broken up lines and unnecessary exterior complexity. The current Civic is the ugliest in the history of that venerable nameplate.
If it was just RWD...
@@revmatchtv AWD... it's game one, forget the civic Si. And why even buy the FR-S?
Hi this car color nomber give me.
My dream garage includes Toyota Corolla Hatchback XSE, Toyota GR86, Chevrolet Camaro, Toyota Tundra, Toyota GR Supra
Lost interest when you said CVT.
@@revmatchtv Honda has done a good job with the CVT unlike Nissan. We bought our daughter an Accord with a CVT when she went to med school a few years ago. I bought a Toyota Camry last year. It has a normal 8 speed transmission.
Joe D The Honda CVT is not bad at all, but it has a bit more of a rubber band feel than the Corolla. I think most people will be absolutely fine with it and won’t notice.
It's seriously low on power, sadly.
Very underwhelming for a 6 speed manual. Glad I leased
Super hard to keep interior clean too!
this guy said “normally aspirated”
@@revmatchtv Just sounds weird, usually used to hearing naturally aspirated.
Of course it drives good. It's a new car.
Kong Lee Prob still drive well. It’s a Toyota. It’s a Toyota that’s made in Japan. Enough said.
Hey toy yo ta you're competing with the HONDA CIVIC pick your horsepower game UP!!!! You're Supra's little brother!!! Act like it!
Way too much " Toyota" I need more Supra blood line in that thing
2021 Toyota Corolla MANUAL hatchback review is up. It's FUN! Check it out th-cam.com/video/Y-KWuUosn-0/w-d-xo.html
Blegh! Too many safety features!
Ok. Eric. Show us something fun.
And go shopping with someone with fashion.
Put some effort into it.
Why is it that people's car always have bad taste for their appearance?...btw 6:06 you do not know what you're talking about...
Eww CVT 🤮🤮🤮
A re-masked Prius, no thanks
Definitely more upscale than the Prius. For anyone looking at a Hybrid, I'd choose the Corolla Hybrid over the Prius all day long.
2021 Toyota Corolla XSE review is up. It's SPICY! Check it out! th-cam.com/video/m8NMAkB0n4g/w-d-xo.html
