When I bought my 2024 Corolla LE base a few months ago with only 14 miles on it I just accepted the fact that it was kind of slow. After driving it for a couple weeks I took a deep dive in the settings and realized it was in Eco mode! I turned eco mode off (have to do in settings no separate external button) and to my great surprise I suddenly had way more take off speed from stopped and way more zip in general. I was SO relieved and enjoy the car so much more now! ❤
That's great! Wish I could say that. I've never put my Sentra in ECO mode. If I did, I'd probably have to get out and push. It goes from 0-60 in about 3 hours and 10 minutes downhill with a good downwind. It's a little faster in hurricanes and tornados. I do love it though, even if I can't pass with it without 2 miles of straight empty road. I'm taking my chance turning right on red, so I just make sure the coast is clear! Once it get's up there, it's a pretty nice ride...lol.

I hope things will improve for you financially. At the very least you seem well grounded and happy. The worm will turn. Hang in there , I was in the same situation, and you’ll see how things will change for the better. Good luck friend. 😊 🙏.
@@Nel33147 I appreciate the thought, but at 65 my finances will not change on the positive side, nor am I expecting it to. That's why I'm keeping my Sentra, soon to be 8 years old. I know it will in time need service of some kind, not being under warranty, but I would trust a Toyota much better. You can't get a car for what I paid for mine, at least I haven't heard of $307 new car payments lately. I've been fortunate not to have had service expenses (other than brakes). I suppose my Sentra is worth about $9-12K private party, but that still makes a small dent in the price of a new Toyota like this one (I'd want the SE $26K) and my payments would be more and for what, 72 months? Not happening, because I might not be here by then and I have other things I'd rather do than get married to another payment, like get a motorcycle. I'm not as well grounded as you might think, but I am adaptive. My photo is me and I'm a old gym nut and a car freak, but I don't have to go to the nicest gym, or own the best car. I traded a Corolla for my Sentra, because the Toyota had manual windows and that is the only reason. I knew that when I bought it, but I had no idea how frequently we use that function until I didn't have it. To me, buying a car is much like buying a house (I know, the two are always compared). It's a huge investment (for me) and not something done frequently. Strangely, my home is newer than my car! lol. As an auto detailer from before it was a thing, I've done so many fine vehicles in my career that it is extremely difficult to impress me. One of my clients just got a 2025 Z51 Stingray ($138K); it replaces his 2023 model. It's nice, smells awesome, but it's just a car and one of many, yet I admit is on the top of the list of client priority, but because my income is on the line, it's not about the type of car I'm working on. I also charge the same for a Rolls Royce as I would a Toyota Camry; there is no difference in my business and I am the boss. I make good money for the cars I work on, but there are relatively few of them out there, so I am restrained by my location. I work on regular cars also, and I do charge less for smaller vehicles and give senior discounts (no joke; it's great publicity). People are impressed that my car looks new every day, but I'm not. It's should look that way. I prefer a sedan; price does not impress me. Money only impresses those who have it. Maybe that has made me immune to the attraction of the idea that cars are like clothes to be replaced at whim, or that it's a luxury I'll just never know about. If it bothered me I wouldn't talk about it. I really love my car and I love it more every month, if you get me. There are cars on the road not as nice as mine, and when I see one I feel fortunate in that respect, than to feel deprived by not driving a better one. There will always be a better one, no matter what you have. If an SE just drops out of the sky one day, I'll make sure you're the second person to know. I hope the impossible drops down in dark gray..

If I manage to wear out my 2013 Camry (in another 10 years) I might look at a Corolla. Nice to know they are still making them affordable and simple. A big mistake the American Manufactures never clued into! My father bought my mother a Corolla in 1968 it lasted 10 years back then and unfortunately rust got it, but the engine had a 100,000 miles on it, wich was rare for a 4 cyl engine back them! (it had 1 valve job done at 70,000 miles) Toyota always makes good card, no matter what you get!

Great video Ben! I agree, it's affordable and reliable, as long as you can find one without pre-installed accessories and markup! Here in Texas, it seems like all new Corollas have a few grand in distributor installed accessories. Also, I really wish Toyota had made blind spot monitoring standard in the 2025 Corolla. Almost all the rivals come standard with it, so why not the Corolla?

But what if you don't want the CVT? Those are problematic.
Cvt in the new Corolla have a physical launch gear for first gear, it takes all the stress off the transmission, will make it super reliable....
A 24 K Corolla
Worth about 13k
Something wrong with the modern world.
pricing is to make EV sh!t an option... rather by and old truck/classic truck
@@johnanderson60
Absolutely right 👍
A new base model 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES is 20k so why would this brand new 2025 Corolla be less than a Mirage?
@@johnkonde1975
I never compared prices
I'm simply stating that both cars are ridiculously overpriced.
@@ralphabreu5022 I agree but that's the current reality. All the carmakers are greedy too and would rather make huge expensive SUVs and trucks than small affordable cars
How does the Corolla compare to Vw Jetta in the same price point
Well, it’s a combination, automatic and CVT it has a launch gear as a first gear. Then goes into CVT mode
in the non-hybrid versions too?
How does this CVT compare to the ones in the Nissans?
Is the first gear an actual gear and then 2nd and higher are CVT, or is it all CVT?
Had one brand new from Hertz for a 3 week roadtrip. The car was fine, 40 mpg. BUT pairing with Android auto was a pain. Constantly waiting a long time for it to pair, even with a cable.
Corolla looks good in silver
If I manage to wear out my 2013 Camry (in another 10 years) I might look at a Corolla. Nice to know they are still making them affordable and simple. A big mistake the American Manufactures never clued into! My father bought my mother a Corolla in 1968 it lasted 10 years back then and unfortunately rust got it, but the engine had a 100,000 miles on it, wich was rare for a 4 cyl engine back them! (it had 1 valve job done at 70,000 miles) Toyota always makes good card, no matter what you get!
Tell me why i just bought the same car 2024 version for 23,500 i don't see any upgrades in the 2025 except the 500 Dollars added to the price.
Does anyone know if the Premium Trim option in the base LE Corolla will give you the soft touch material on the front interior of door on the upper part?
You had me up to CVT transmission. No thanks. $24K is way above what I will ever be able to afford. Thanks for sharing.
A friend of mine just bought a Corolla SE. He had good credit but a not-so-good trade in vehicle. He now has it, but his payments at $600 a month for 72 months. Unbelievable.
good luck finding one on a dealer lot. Toyota seriously needs to increase supply.
I've complained to Toyota Corporate about the low Corolla supply. If you go to the Toyota USA website and scroll all the way down, you can file an online complaint too. I suggest you do so!
Ben Some channels want to review these base cars but the problem is they are not that easily available the suvs and more expensive ones come more and half the time these already have a deposit it says sale pending
Not “dirt cheap” 😒
Does any of the model Corolla's have "Remote Start?" Thanks. Thinking about trading my 3rd gen Tacoma in for a SE Corolla. (Dealer is wanting it awful bad. Lol)
Don’t do it. VERY small.. I think you’ll be disappointed.
do they still make standard 5 speed?
Does the CVT in this particular model have an actual launch gear for off the line acceleration?
Great video Ben! I agree, it's affordable and reliable, as long as you can find one without pre-installed accessories and markup! Here in Texas, it seems like all new Corollas have a few grand in distributor installed accessories. Also, I really wish Toyota had made blind spot monitoring standard in the 2025 Corolla. Almost all the rivals come standard with it, so why not the Corolla?
I agree
Don't you think even heated seats should be standard in states where it snows?.
7:51 dictates that most people should drive this kind of car and then fully admits that it wouldn't be a great experience for a great many families.
That’s when you decide for yourself what’s best for you and your family.
I bought this car but a 2024 last month for 24000 otd, and had them throw in floormats. in florida. Wish they still offered it with a manual trans.
nice deal! did you have to negotiate a lot to get them down to 24k otd?
No, since it was a 2024.
@@ginolatino6046 do you think i can get a 2025 gasoline Corolla LE for 24k otd at the end of this month? also is it easy to drive?
If you have the money in hand, I would think so. It is very easy to drive.
Some channels want to review these base cars but the problem is they are not that easily available the suvs and more expensive ones come more and half the time these already have a deposit it says sale pending
It’s, a car. Perfect for non-auto enthusiasts.
I'll wait another year until the refreshed redesign
Thanks for the review. Have a 15 corolla le with 167k. Next car will be like the one you tested
If that came with a sunroof and a manual transmission, I'll would head down to the Toyota dealership today. Well, not today. It's Thanksgiving 2024, but tomorrow. 😊
Price isn't bad, I think Corolla prices basically only changed with inflation through the years.
My daughter got a 2024 Toyota Corolla hybrid 55 mpg. I feel it is a nice car.
Price could be better, but overall it’s a great little commuter.
I know the 1.8 that was discontinued a few years back was probably the most bulletproof engine on earth, now it's the 2.0 that's standard. I wonder if this engine can go 300,000 miles with just basic maintenance like the 1.8?
It probably could. The CVT is what I'm concerned about
@kalani1987 Yes true. I know the 2020s had some problems.
@@MimicMan0324what problems?
My 2020 has the old school 1.8 litre and it is indeed bulletproof and I plan to keep it as I’m almost done paying it off.
@@alvinsimba734 Some Corolla owners have reported problems with their CVT. Overheating and sudden loss of power.
It's cheap, but not the cheapest. You can get a base Nissan Versa for about $18, 000.
It's not even cheap compared to the Versa. At $18,000 that's over $5000 cheaper than the Corolla. The Corolla is not a dirt cheap vehicle.
The best selling car of all time for a reason.
I know Ben has done the Maverick sxt tremor and the Maverick Lariat, I would however like to see the Lariat tremor
Does it have remote start?
Nope, aftermarket better all day
I'm thinking about a new Corolla i have a 2007 325 thousand miles own it still driving it but would love to have a new Corolla my 2007 has been a great car thank you for the review
perfectly simple, only thing left would be a manual e-brake
Dirty cheap my ass! I think even my 2008 Camry is expensive. 160,000 miles running great.
I just checked this car out on my local dealership 25k Plus that car is not cheap
You gotta know how to haggle. Got my base model for 24k out the door in California
Love Toyota but I had the chance to get one of these at enterprise and man oh man are the seats are uncomfortable!
My favorite trim level!
For about $1k more you can get the hybrid version in the LE. It's a smashing good deal.
But you lose 31hp
@@fightnight14if you’re buying a Corolla though, shouldn’t be the main interest
@@angelquizhpe2473 Right but it's a 23k car. Other cars in this range are slower so this is a good value. Hybrid is also nice if you want to maximize mpg but it's noticeably slower and I'm sure you'll feel the 31hp difference.
@@fightnight14 I've driven both back to back and the hybrid feels more sprightly because of the electric motor. You get instant torque. The horsepower numbers are deceiving.
@@patwickgriff this all depends on how someone drives, and how much highway driving they do. Besides, the hybrid is going to be far more expensive to maintain long term. If gas savings is your #1 priority you'd better be doing 20,000+ miles of driving per year.
Bring back new Carollas sunder 20 grand please 😮
never gonna happen, a new Mirage is going for 20 grand nowadays lol
@$ k is not dirt cheap. You can get a HYbrid Camry for 28k.
15k thats cheap nice nice thank you Toyota your the best
The Corolla is an amazing rental car!!!😊
I bought a Hyundai Elantra loaded for 25,700.00 best buy and ten year warranty.theToyota looks cheap and poorly equipedt, So ten years from now how much money have I saved.A TON
after taxes, title, destination, and miscellaneous fees that will bring up close to 29k!
We have a 24 Corolla Cross XLE and its wonderful.
What’s hilarious about it. Less chance of that get stolen. I prefer the key over push to start for a few reasons.
I wish Toyota made a manual roll down windows. Not too much tech Corolla for 15k
Even the 09' corolla had a push to start key 💀🙏
My Corolla sometimes gets 46 mpg it’s a 24.
Apple Car play?
Yes it does have
That car has more horsepower than my 2016 Hyundai
But it costs way more than your Hyundai.
Before pandemic I bought the brand new corolla le in canada for 17k but now it is 27k it does not worth it
Not convinced CVT transmission’s are economically friendly.
What is dirt cheap by today’s standard? About $25K? Inflation… wish it had a regular torque converter transmission.
Lol, $24k. Nissan Versa S (the base) is $17k now. That's only .076 Bitcoin difference 😂
Ben, do you know what "literally" means? It would mean that the car is the same price as a bag of dirt. Just sayin'.
gonna go to my local toyota dealer and i’m gonna get one
never ever again will i buy from a dealer.
Corolla 2025 ?
People waste so much money on vehicles. Drive to/from work. Drive to mall on weekends. Car payment $700/month for 72 months. And they wonder why they cannnever get free from being debt and wage slaves.
In most of the USA if you don't have a car you're gonna be spending a LOT of money. Living downtown is usually crazy expensive, far more expensive than a car payment. Riding mass transit? Literally non existent in most of the nation and even if it's available have fun getting mugged on the bus or walking through the piss stench subway in NYC. It's not like Europe at all.
Just the car I would get
the center screen is too high
Just not meant with snow
You have no idea what you talking about. This vehicle can take a better beating in the snow than all compacts in its class. I’m from Canada where it snows 6 months plus in a year and winter tires are the answer to winter over here. I have a 2020 LE with FWD and snow tires are the best answer along with undercoating which is done once a year. My previous vehicle was FWD as well and it worked wonders and never got stuck in the snow for the last 11 years I have owned the vehicle it I sold it last year.
@alvinsimba734 no awd is needed not winter tires.
@@alvinsimba734 well try that in more than one feet of snow then come.
@@AlexAlex-gs1xh i already live in a snow country my friend. im in eastern canada where it snows half the year and winter tires are the best answer and work everytime
@alvinsimba734 no they do not try that in a lake effect snow where you get around 20inches in less than 24hrs amd continues for a week. AWD is needed
Paid just under 16k for mine new in 2016. Had it almost 9 years and never missed a beat. Have a new 2024 Corolla cross now and Love it
My condolences. The interior will fall apart around you within two weeks. Then you'll be stuck with a POS shell of a car with a reliable engine/drivetrain. What a "win." LOL.
