    When I bought my 2024 Corolla LE base a few months ago with only 14 miles on it I just accepted the fact that it was kind of slow. After driving it for a couple weeks I took a deep dive in the settings and realized it was in Eco mode! I turned eco mode off (have to do in settings no separate external button) and to my great surprise I suddenly had way more take off speed from stopped and way more zip in general. I was SO relieved and enjoy the car so much more now! ❤

      @floridaredneck 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      That's great! Wish I could say that. I've never put my Sentra in ECO mode. If I did, I'd probably have to get out and push. It goes from 0-60 in about 3 hours and 10 minutes downhill with a good downwind. It's a little faster in hurricanes and tornados. I do love it though, even if I can't pass with it without 2 miles of straight empty road. I'm taking my chance turning right on red, so I just make sure the coast is clear! Once it get's up there, it's a pretty nice ride...lol.

    I've driven a 2023 for about 13k miles so far. Lots of good things no one talks about: Hold-while-stopped feature--take your foot off brake pedal at lights; press gas pedal to go--maybe the best feature of the car. Yes--cvt is noisy and slowish accelerating. But, from O-32 mph the trans is geared and if you use press on gas pedal, you will go quickly. MPG suffers, but it's your choice. The ride is great--passengers like it. At 70-80 mph car feels good. 80-90 feels about the same. Around town it feels sort of light and easy to maneuver. Seats are fine, even on long drives. Nifty auto bright light feature-very useful.. Toyota safety sense is too complicated, but works well if you take a couple hours to figure it out.

    Thanks for the tour! I wouldn't call this "dirt cheap", because there are cars less than $20,000. But, $24,068 for a Toyota isn't bad for today it seems. My income hasn't gone up with the price of cars, so I consider 24K a lot of money. I have a truly "dirt cheap" 2017 Nissan Sentra. It was $18,640 new and I paid it off in 56 months at 325 per month ($307 was my payment and I added change). Quality is #1 for a long-term investment like my car is. I'm now saving $325 a month (or rather keeping it), since I have no payment anymore. I've had no trouble with it, although the notorious CVT was replaced under warranty at 58,000 miles, but it didn't break down and cost me nothing. it has 69,000 now, looks and drives as it did when I bought it.
    I'm saying this in favor of the Corolla, since I used to have one and I believe it to be superior to mine. I'd still have it if I had electric windows! They are the bottom of the line for Toyota, but I wouldn't say cheap, however I would say affordable over a period of time. Now, if you make $50,000+ a year (which I don't), then the cost of a car might not matter to you. This Toyota costs what I make in a year and I live alone, so it might as well have the Sprit of Ecstasy on the hood. It is other good things for sure, but dirt cheap isn't one of them. That's not your fault, just your perspective. I thought I'd give you another. Nice review and nice car!

      @floridaredneck 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Nel33147 I appreciate the thought, but at 65 my finances will not change on the positive side, nor am I expecting it to. That's why I'm keeping my Sentra, soon to be 8 years old. I know it will in time need service of some kind, not being under warranty, but I would trust a Toyota much better. You can't get a car for what I paid for mine, at least I haven't heard of $307 new car payments lately. I've been fortunate not to have had service expenses (other than brakes). I suppose my Sentra is worth about $9-12K private party, but that still makes a small dent in the price of a new Toyota like this one (I'd want the SE $26K) and my payments would be more and for what, 72 months? Not happening, because I might not be here by then and I have other things I'd rather do than get married to another payment, like get a motorcycle. I'm not as well grounded as you might think, but I am adaptive. My photo is me and I'm a old gym nut and a car freak, but I don't have to go to the nicest gym, or own the best car. I traded a Corolla for my Sentra, because the Toyota had manual windows and that is the only reason. I knew that when I bought it, but I had no idea how frequently we use that function until I didn't have it.
      To me, buying a car is much like buying a house (I know, the two are always compared). It's a huge investment (for me) and not something done frequently. Strangely, my home is newer than my car! lol. As an auto detailer from before it was a thing, I've done so many fine vehicles in my career that it is extremely difficult to impress me. One of my clients just got a 2025 Z51 Stingray ($138K); it replaces his 2023 model. It's nice, smells awesome, but it's just a car and one of many, yet I admit is on the top of the list of client priority, but because my income is on the line, it's not about the type of car I'm working on. I also charge the same for a Rolls Royce as I would a Toyota Camry; there is no difference in my business and I am the boss. I make good money for the cars I work on, but there are relatively few of them out there, so I am restrained by my location. I work on regular cars also, and I do charge less for smaller vehicles and give senior discounts (no joke; it's great publicity). People are impressed that my car looks new every day, but I'm not. It's should look that way.
      I prefer a sedan; price does not impress me. Money only impresses those who have it. Maybe that has made me immune to the attraction of the idea that cars are like clothes to be replaced at whim, or that it's a luxury I'll just never know about. If it bothered me I wouldn't talk about it. I really love my car and I love it more every month, if you get me. There are cars on the road not as nice as mine, and when I see one I feel fortunate in that respect, than to feel deprived by not driving a better one. There will always be a better one, no matter what you have. If an SE just drops out of the sky one day, I'll make sure you're the second person to know. I hope the impossible drops down in dark gray..

      @raymondcanessa7208 the issue with the tech is that is has gone downhill. I would love for someone to explain to me why the dealer was trying to charge me $80 extra a month on the 2024 LE because the touchscreen is now suceptible to failure. Apparently this has happened to many clients and according to my dealer, costs $3,500 to replace. This on top of the gaps in the dashboard that show the metal shims connecting to the glove box and that the plastic casing around the rear view mirror was detached and rattling when the car was firsr acquired. Corollas now are a joke and severely overpriced. The tech is not proven, the cars history is. The new tech in these are garbage and the previous generation of LEs were the better choice. Better ride, easier infotainment system, more comfortable and didn't accelerate like garbage on the road. Same gas mileage and reliability. We shouldn't be overpaying for sub-par quality Corollas priced at almost $28,000 CAD and $25,000 USD because the car has a "proven" history. That's why they are making a profit off of us because of this title and putting in crap quality parts. I've had multiple Corollas and this one is the worst.

    If I manage to wear out my 2013 Camry (in another 10 years) I might look at a Corolla. Nice to know they are still making them affordable and simple. A big mistake the American Manufactures never clued into! My father bought my mother a Corolla in 1968 it lasted 10 years back then and unfortunately rust got it, but the engine had a 100,000 miles on it, wich was rare for a 4 cyl engine back them! $24k seems a bit much for that tin can, Camelback Kia in Scottsdale, AZ is offering a Kia Soul for $24,7 after a $1,500 rebate. That same Toyota back in 2018
    was selling for $18k, so in 7 years the price increased $7k, that's an increase of $1000k each year. I'd much rather drive the new Kia K-4 for $1000k more
