    Your HD is like a Camaro. Attitude and grunt. Your Wing is like a Lexus. Refined and way more comfortable! The Glide for shorter rides, the Wing for any serious long distance. 👍🏾I've owned both!

      Right on! I am learning. Joe I have been a hardcore HD owner and stepping out the box this time. The Goldwing is a new relationship for me. Every time I ride it and it feels better I feel like I’m cheating on my HD bikes. 😂. It’s my first 200 miles and I’m here to see if this bike will make me love it or list it.

      I currently own both and that’s close to how I describe ownership of both when asked about it. However I compare my old nearly classic Electra Glide as a 60’s/70’s muscle car and my Wing as a sleek and fast Jaguar.

      I love harley, but they are very expensive for what you get. The Goldwing is just in a different league - my mate who now owns a Road Glide would agree as he sold his Goldwing. He has regretted his decision since he did it.

    I'm 46 and I love my Wing. Rode Harleys for years and you're right, they have a feel to them like no other bike does. But the Wing is so smooth and powerful that I enjoy it way more than I thought I would. Good video.

      Thank you. I appreciate it. Its growing on my in its own special way. I finally rode it like I stole it and goooood Lord. The GW is mind blowing. However, once you own a Harley-Davidson you can never undo that. Nothing has a H-D feel. Nothing is more addictive. The GW is a bike that I wish visually had H-D emblems and symbols on it just the way it is. I wish HD had an automatic DCT Grand Touring edition.

    The finger wave is not only a Harley thing, but some Harley riders think they are better than people on other brands. It is 2 fingers pointed down to say be safe and keep two wheels down compared to your wheels facing up.

    • @ChrisGlides
      @ChrisGlides  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is absolutely correct and after all these years and being born into motorcycle culture I didn’t know something that small until after reading the comments of this video. I have just always primarily been around Harley’s and only associated it with H-D Culture. Now that I know it and the correct correlation, everyone gets the keep the two wheels down wave. I appreciate it and thank you. Please keep in contact.

    Thanks for the review. I love the look of the 2018+ Wing, more athletic and capable. I have zero tolerance for fellow bikers who get all religious on brand, mostly Harley owners, not all as I ride with Harley owners and they aren't like that. Ride what you like and keep safe!

    • @ChrisGlides
      @ChrisGlides  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s excellent facts. I see and felt HD dominant and fall into the trance from time to time. As more situations occur with me putting bikes in the shop or I have friends that come over and bikes break down on rides I appreciate having a reliable go to machine. I love them all for a variety or reasons and moods. The main thing that I like is that every bike has a following and the networking in the various groups is priceless. I am an outsider still in the GW community but learning to join the playground.

    Sweet review, boss. After 35 years of riding almost any bike out there, I will say whole heartily, the Gold Wing DCT Tour is the best bike I have ever owned.....PERIOD. Yes, no bike is perfect, but it checks many boxes for me. Once you add Utopia backrest and GS foot pegs, you will ride like a king. The Sport Mode is like heavy sugar in a sweet coffee mug. The ride is so smooth that I forget, at times, I am on 2 wheels. Enjoy this beast. HD can give me a bike for free, I might take it......MIGHT! For what I paid for GW compare to HD and what I would get for HD, no way, boss. Ride on....!!!!!

      Thank you I appreciate it. Each day or time I ride the GW I am learning something new. I’m enjoying it and looking forward to having a new relationship with it. I’m a GW rookie that was all HD and sports bike. At 52 I’m learning new things in all motorcycles thats maturing me more by the day. In the past year or two I have stepped outside the box and owned an adventure bike - HD Pan America, The Livewire electric HD, Sportser S, and really fought owning a Lowrider S because I didn’t know anything about it and it turned out to be my all time favorite. Most friends really thought I lost it when I said I was buying a trike. Between getting a trike and Goldwing I am trying to break the Age demographic and bring a younger crowd to both. The Goldwing will certainly be up there on the list of my favorites. It’s so comfortable and powerful that I am fighting the urge to rave over it and like it. I would love to change the age demographics to a younger interest and that’s my goal. I couldn’t fight or convince my younger friends to even test ride the Goldwing, but they would all jump on the Harley’s. I’ve been getting people to transition from Sports bike to cruiser but I’m learning that mostly all bikes are fun and people will only ride what they find interesting to them.

      @@ChrisGlides Good writing ! These days, it will
      Be hard for Honda to attract the young juice to own a GW. It’s just too costly. Unless, Honda comes up with very good buying program and incentives. I just don’t see it. I am 58 and it took me 2 years aggressively saving to own a new one, no loans. Worth every penny, to me. On top of that, all the goodies I bought for it, not cheap in the end. Enjoy life and ride safe.

    You really have to make an honest comparison of bikes, on the basis of machine VS machine and removing the emotion and nostalgia out of the equation. But hands down, the Goldwing Tour is by far the superior bike when compared to anything Harley Davidson has to offer. I believe that the only V-Twin bike on the market that gives the Goldwing competition, is the Indian Pursuit.

    Nice review Chris! I’m a new first time Goldwing owner myself. What sold me on the wing was the weight and balance of it. A dealership happened to have a used Ultra so me and the wife set on both of them. The wing was easier for me to stand up with her on the back and I’m not getting any younger. Lol. The DCT and walking features was a plus as well. I will recommend the backrest. I rode mine for a bit without it and I do prefer having the backrest on. It feels better on the lower back. I love your Roadglide btw. I always wanted one but I don’t guess I’ll be getting it anytime soon. God bless and Ride safe!

I owned a 2019 DCT Tour and found that after riding for about 1.5 to 2 hours, my butt would get sore and I found myself shifting on seat to get some comfort. Once I added highway pegs, I found that I can ride for hours and hours without any discomfort at all. I used to live in Accokeek and still visit the DC area on occasion.

    The Wing today is $32k plus tax out the door locally. Everything comes with it. Even a reverse for those steep parking lots. I have an Ultra. Lots of upgrades. Basically the Goldwing is a much cheaper CVO with a Porsche type motor.

    Nice G-W. I grew up on Honda. I think about Gold Wings like you think about H-D. I look at H-Ds as status symbols. I look at Gold Wings as high Performance luxury machines right out of the box. There is no need for upgrades. If you flash tune the engine you’ll really have a beast on your hands.

      Excellent point about the BMW K1600 GTL or the B version. 160 HP, shift assist, telescopic windshields, heated seats, grips, ABS brakes, etc. Harley can't touch. I have personally out run every single Harley that wanted to go with both the BMW and the GW DCT. They did it to themselves. I was just chillin at the light. I own the 2019 K1600B and a 2020 Goldwing DCT. Both rockets but even with shift assist on the BMW that GW DCT in sport mode, from my experience is somewhat superior from 0-100. The BMW has a little more top end especially with the mods I have made to it. In either case the Harley will not ever catch up and will run out of gas trying. Nice review BTW.

    Automatic is a misnomer. It is more of a manual transmission with two automatic clutches. No torque converter to rob power and slow shifts like an automatic transmission. There is a kit so the trunk can be removed. A company also makes a quick change kit that makes it a 15 minute job instead of 4 hours.

    Before I watch this video I want to guess at the answer. Which is better? I'm going with the Honda Goldwing. (I own a beautiful Harley Davidson Electra Glide and beautiful Harley Davidson Fatboy.)
    What if? Every top tour motorcycle made, top of the line brand new. What if each of these were ridden from Miami to Anchorage Alaska. Together, at the same time same route. What bike would require maintenance? Except for a flat tire, which bike will need adjusting, nuts tightened? If a wrench touches the bike , write it down. I bet the Honda Goldwing will win that contest.

    • @ChrisGlides
      @ChrisGlides  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you. Yes of course. It was more about getting a Harley-Davidson guy to say it. The background was that I got into my feelings one time because a guy said that he would beat me on his Goldwing and I had never rode one and called B.S. I knew nothing about them, price or anything. So I visited a dealership and was blown away with price. I purchased right then and there without even riding. Ride it and was blown away. I will get another one but next generation when there is a touch screen. It was hard to say that it’s a better bike but I did. However, I love my HD more still.

    For the tech and features plus comfort for the price of a gold wing standard or tour you can only get on a cvo that’s 51k not including fees and msrp is 42k but Harley adds a 10k fee for its “rarity” FOH it’s not worth it at all. When you get every tech and feature out on a goldwing standard 22k and it’s more comfortable.. if it wasn’t for the Harley name and brand plus culture people wud not buy those expensive ass Harleys. Both bike hold there resale value even at high mileage. So ask yourself why u ride a 30k road glide st out the door price 38-40k and only tech u get is a touch screen and terrible suspension 🤷🏽‍♂️ make it make sense but I get it.. you want to fit in cuz everybody has a Harley
    Also I like Harley had one but I’m just being honest there way over priced for what you get standard tech and suspension wise on a 10k sport bikes you gotta spend 10-20k plus to make it your own and upgrading the engine to perform like a Honda, bmw, tour bike

      Thank you for taking the time to express and explain your thoughts. I did feel the same way and purchased the best that Goldwing had to offer. In the end I traded it for another Harley after 900 miles. A 2023 CVO Road Glide with touch screen. I did agree that the Goldwing is the best motorcycle but that wasn’t enough for me. I like technology and touch screens. I feel that I can get a Goldwing any time as there is no big demand or wait to get another one. For several years straight there have been no changes or improvements even to the 2024 so that means the Goldwing is the same for past 5 years which means once used it’s same as previous models except different colors. I didn’t like the clothes Honda had or the merchandise. I can ride a Harley in every state and there are dealerships everywhere to stop in and get souvenirs and shirts and a cup of hot coffee. You can’t do that with Honda. You can’t enjoy the same brotherhood and bond. They don’t have things like Hog memberships. Etc. at the end of the day. Gucci will cost way more than Michael Kores and the Michael Kores may have more features and last longer but people will still want Gucci, Louis, Vuitton, Prada, etc. over MK. Nike Jordans cost more than Payless band Jordans. Payless shoes may last longer and even have lights and Velcro coming from China as well. But are you wearing Nike Jordans (or any name brand) or you wearing Payless. Put it like this. Harley-Davidson is an American Icon; we all want a peace of the American Dream because we are American First. If I’m riding my HD with an American Flag on the back of my HD on the 4th of July or Veterans Day it hits differently on an American Icon historic machine customized by me vs. a Honda. Just my philosophy. You said to make it make sense.

A must have deal breaker in 100% perfection for this bike is a touch screen. This bike is 95% out of 100%. I absolutely miss my Goldwing but it was easy to get over it in 15 minutes. But 100% getting another one. The GW is a must have in the Garage. You need the smooth luxury of the GW on certain days and for all the other 28 days per month you need your rough love/hate relationship of your Harley’s.

      When I had my HD Ultra I would still low waive a moped as the two fingers down means keep your two wheels on the road (basically it means keep safe). That is how it started (I learned that in a MSF class). So O would not give a Can-Am a low 2 fingers point down (meaning stay safe and keep your wheels down), but perhaps a 3 fingers down waive 🤷🏼‍♂️

      I certainly understand. I would always have GW owners taunting and from the HD side always downing the GW. I didn’t understand the rivalry so a very popular thread has been to buy both and see for myself and share the thoughts. Just as many owners customize their GW as HD people and GW also has a following. I liked the GW and didn’t feel the need to add accessories at all and loved it plain. I sold my GW because I like electronics and modern technology and the non touch screen was the deal breaker for me. I will get another one when they come out with a touch screen and more rider assist features.

    Any Goldwing is BETTER than a Harley......

    • @ChrisGlides
      @ChrisGlides  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a little true but mostly. If Harley actually took the same GW and made a Harley edition everyone would get the Harley edition. Not many is passing up the H-D culture and shop availability and the amount of store locations, merchandise, and events for a Honda even if it is determined to be better. I’m my video I did admit it was better but no one cares who owns a Harley. H-D could fall apart every 4 months and there are Harley owners who would never go Goldwing but most GW owners would go Harley. It’s like this. Gucci products cost more but it doesn’t mean that it’s better quality than Michael Kors it’s just going to cost more for the name and popularity. Honda GW is nice but it’s an affordable, can get anywhere anytime Michael Kors. People are always now going to pick Nike over Reebok or Puma. GW is Reebok or Puma and Harley is Nike. Same purpose of an athletic shoe but people are still going to go with Nike no matter if Reebok has a shoe that Pumps up. Goldwing is like Sketchers 😂 Great shoe but only for a select group. When Goldwing gets a touchscreen I will get another one.

    Your comparation and comments are senceless...First, there is too big difference between this bikes to even thing of comparing them... Apples and potatoes... Obviously, you are not familiar enough with the Goldwing, yet, to make this review. You are saying that the Goldwing is not attractive for the people around... That is the biggest BS I've ever heard off...I can not remeber to stop anywhere and people not asking and starring in the bike... That is the same with all my 3 Goldwings since 2001'. If you beleive that you will be able to make comments on the Goldwing features...please, make few trips first... Now, with 200 miles on it ??? It does not make a sence at all...Stop this review...Goldwing riders are laughing at this review...

      I appreciate your response and this is the exact reaction I should be getting at review 1 and only 200 miles.
      There are newer videos and a new outlook on things. The objective was to buy something I didn’t know anything about and step outside the box to love something that many closed minded Harley owners would never do.
      This all started with a Goldwing owner calling me out and challenging me. I was clearly initially all pro Harley in the beginning and taking the challenge and buying a Goldwing has really opened my option and changed my view. If you look at the other videos to follow you will see how I change.
      Along this journey I have become open to more bikes outside of HD. I have even had one viewer also purchase a Goldwing and others considered going to test one.
      I appreciate your remarks and please don’t give up on me. My disclaimer was that yes as a Harley rider and owner of may Harleys I didn’t know anything about Goldwing or Indian or BMW, etc.
