Man thus guy smells like a memory of 2014. Just seeing this guy again makes me feel like a beginner photographer, watching TH-cam about photography day and night. I have then since become a master of this craft and I really have to thank guys like him for helping with that
he jsut reads what is on paper, zero talent to shoot or produce anything. C80 footage looked like samsung s6 video from 2013. I wonder what did you learn from him
Always a real pleasure to find a new video from Kai. A bonus when he is with Lok too, of course, and even better when the content is as interesting as this. Thanks Kai.
That camera alone probably weighs more than my whole camera kit😆 but that is a Camera. Nice Coffee, Canoes and Canons in Weybridge .😉 Kai if you want that for a video title please feel free to use it, I'm retired from media work so..🤣
The fun thing about cameras for photography is that really a 17 year old camera still works fine. The 5000 was my first DSLR. Upgraded it to a second hand 7100 and that's still my DSLR. It's a very different story with video though... My A7ii (also old...) puts those Nikons's to shame 😅
HI Kai - Love your channel - Would it be possible to do an episode on shooting on tape - Hi 8 and the process of editing the footage on 3 machine systems
Just buy an older c70 for half the price and add a speed booster. You still get the amazing dgo sensor with all other main features of the c80 and you can buy lights and an amazing lens with the rest of the money. Even though, the tripple iso is a nice new feauture… just thinking is it worth the price?!
Seeing that it has triple base ISO, sometimes I wonder if in the future we'll have cameras where every ISO is base, and we'll look back on cameras that had a singular or dual base ISO as primitive
IT HAS A LEVEL! YESSSSS! If only all Canons had this absolutely basic function that even cheap cameras of other brands have had for the past 10 year or more...
Why don't you just get a tiny level and stick it to your camera? Do you really need a load of sensors to replicate the functionality of something you might find on a keyring, while obscuring your screen?
If only it had 6K 60p then it would have been an ideal camera. Sadly Canon didn’t add this one in and it’s a shame. Despite this it’s still a nice camera to own, but I’ll wait for something better. R5C is still a better option in terms of fps and recording options. Sure AF is lacking compared to R5II and C80, but the recording options are much better. P.S: great vid Kai
@@treelinevisuals well, camera manufacturers don’t listen to what the recording options people actually want. It’s like a game of broken telephone. A lot say 8k is overkill to an extent. Camera manufacturer listens and gives 6k but does not include the 60p option. I understand from a company stand point of view it’s so to speak milking it but for once they could just listen a bit more thorough if you know what I mean. Yeah NDs for run and gun doc shoots sure, but with variable NDs + magnetic rings - you don’t miss that much tbh, but 24p can never be made into 60p. Especially in a run and gun scenario where that extra slow motion could play a crucial part in a scene/story telling
yep the first batches of c70s was crazy bad with the screens... i got two.. the first one i got was just when it came out.. the screen fell off :P the other one I got later and that had no problem at all
Looks like a good new addition to follow the C70. One question, how easy is it to work with the files in post? I've heard that Canon files tend to play back slowly when you're editing video. What is your experience?
@@JesseDriftwood I had a look at the Canon website and it appears they have tidied up the line. I think I was just bewildered by all the cameras they have put out, then iterated, then abandoned and replaced. Now it seems more cohesive.
😅😂 no is the C silly 😜 for Sicilian mafia. Well, is a bit too late for that? And how hard is going to be, work with the codes? 😂 and after the c90 are you going vack to the c100 ? C200 ? 300? Etc.... 😅😂 because we've already got these one? 😅
Haha!....Just buy a second hand canon xc15 for a fraction of the price, great zoom lens, great image stabilisation....and canon log. It will weigh a lot less than the C80 lol. Hate me now, thank me later.
Looks the same to me with minor tweaks...overall it is a bad design due to the lack of options. They were forced to make it like that. In my humble opinion it is totally user unfriendly. In any maner you use it, it is on risk for you to losen it, except on gimbal. I had my c70 hinge on repair 2 times now, now the 3rd time I have to change my complete back cover with display because of the hinge because it is showing a white vertical stripe over the display while I shoot. It doesnt reflect on the video but it is there😢. Its just bad design in my user experience...hope you have a better one :) @@scruzb
Kai is the old guard of "reviews" of cameras. Mostly fluff, you can tell these guys are in the manufacturer's pocket. Gotta wait for guys like Gerald Undone for the REAL reviews.
If you want to watch a scientific scripted review watch Gerald. If you want to watch a couple of mates having a laugh and giving their thoughts in real time watch this. That's the good thing about YT, there are hundreds of different styles, just pick the one that suits you. Chris and Jordon, now PetaPixel are a good compromise between the two.

It's a bugger getting old, young Kai would have dropped that down a flight of stairs.
C80 durability test incoming
Now comes with a Kai proof handle.
They Kai-proofed it with a handle ring!

Simp.
Kai is the best dressed and most cool reviewer
Alamby reunion somewhere in the world would be nice, as well. 😊
For those who miss the Kodak DCS sized and weight camera we present the C80 lbs.
Thanks Boys!!
The ducks bottom feature is the best 😂
LOK & KAI back together again!!!! YAAAY!
When you opening that hinge here at 1:01 I took out my credit card out in front of me. 😂😂😂

Love the C70, with only a couple complaints. This looks like a good update. Not sure if I NEED it but of course I WANT it.
Amin :)
With the help of Kai, i bought my first digital SLR, Nikon D5100, after watching him on DRtv, still got it, many years later, 🤣👍

@3:42 is that a Lumix S5iix?
Wow Kai, as mentioned 2014. Following your advice jumped on plane to Japan then HK for my 60d back sooooo long ago.
HI Kai - Love your channel - Would it be possible to do an episode on shooting on tape - Hi 8 and the process of editing the footage on 3 machine systems
It amuses me that with all that connectivity and bulk it's still shaped like a comically large camera.
These guys are great!!!
But at LEAST it picks up on the ducks bottom! That's what a camera should focus on. LOL

It would be the camera I should buy!
Of course it didn't do body detection with Kai walking away because all it saw was CAKE!

instagram photographer vibes that in a way, is a good way. Yee 😂

Internal ND though... otherwise R5C would be perfect.

Looks like that location from Peepshow where they eat a dog.
Does it have a freezer and a combi oven?
Have they added a feature to the camera to save all user settings?
yes the head is usually attached to the body XD. an anatomy lesson with kai.
Where is the drop test?
Hi Kai, I have EF Lenses and I’m wondering what adapter I will have to purchase to work with the C80?
Best,
Patrick
If it gas a rolling shutter then it's not much use at capturing motion.
"nope, nothing to C80 here"...😅
Did they fix the screen hinge?
yep its a new hinge.
C70 say hello to your little big brother.
How much extra is the optional trailer to haul it around?
i know i`m sounding stupid, but can it take pictures?
I heard it takes JPEGs but if you really wanted to, you could get a 6K screen grab from the RAW video file haha
No 6k 60p? No CF express card slots?! Canon… why?!!!
Any ibis?
And can you record straight to ssd like you can on Panasonics S5iix?
Does it have open gate?
Does it have bluetooth.?
how about AF in 4k & 6k?
Does the LCD screen have electronic leveler?
Nevermind got the answer. Thank GOD!
Does 'EF-EOS R 0.71x adapter' work with this camera?
Tabarnak!
If that camera has no cf express, I will not consider that.

"cawwa"
Why are you doing this review?
Here's a knee-jerk reaction, but, am I the only person confused by Canon's lineup of video cameras? How many do they have, five? Why?
Sony has about 47 cinema cameras in the lineup currently.
@@JesseDriftwood I had a look at the Canon website and it appears they have tidied up the line. I think I was just bewildered by all the cameras they have put out, then iterated, then abandoned and replaced. Now it seems more cohesive.
I am getting too old to speak all of digital filmmaking lingo and figure all out.
1080 is still okay for me.😮
Top Infos !!!!
C70 has still better DR, almost 1 stop. And better shadow lift-off.
such big camera cant shoot 4k 120fps in fullframe, FX6 still much better camera if you ignore 6k[only30fps]
