  • Are you handcuffed by beat 1 when you play drum fills or a drum solo? This lesson will teach you how to break free from always having to mark beat 1, with the same old predictable drum solos. This is a little more advanced drum lesson, but if you are ready ...it's a good one.

Great lesson. I practice this stuff all the time and still learned something new. Yet it was explained in a way that a
first timer could understand it. Very well organized lesson. Thank you.

Excuse me, 4:10....sounds good and I would use that. The best “ metric modulation “ I ever heard was the song “ Spoonful “ recorded live at Winterland in San Francisco in 1968. It’s on the double album “ Wheels of Fire” . There are four live songs in a row. The last one i “ Toad” s a drum solo by Ginger Baker . It’s still the best and most exciting I’ve ever heard. Anyway, I was playing in Key West when that album came out. On my day off I drove to Miami and bought a second bass drum. I had a Ludwig champagne sparkle set that I bought in “66”. I also bought another Speed King pedal. Ok, so my point is the modulation by the whole band, Cream, on that one song is the best I ever heard. We didn’t know what to call it back then but we loved it. I was playing those double bass drums like a demon. Lol. Even today, I practice all my rudiments on my pad every morning and I still listen to “ Spoonful “ and Toad” to jack me up and inspire me. It’s truly a magical moment in time. Please listen yourself. I’m Greg and I’m 71 and I moved to Panama when I retired and I still love my drums !

I will most certainly check that out, Greg! Thanks for the suggestion. I love when bands bring Metric Modulation into their music... especially when it's tasteful.
