One time i popped the backup in front of a phlog pyro who activated his mmph, and i just stood right in front of him, using the schadenfreude taunt, while he's screaming at me. Then he said "why won't you die" and i took the chance to pull off a metal gear reference. Nanomachines, son. then his crits run out, and i killed him with the beggars bazooka.

Joined a completely full Upward pub with 4 soldiers, became the 5th, by the next round it was all soldiers. We coordinated a push where ALL 3 BANNERS were being used at the same time on like 6 people. Banner’s mini crits gave us more Concheror heals while the enemy struggled to deal damage in the first place thanks to the Battalion’s resistances. We plowed through a Kritzkreig medic and heavy at ungodly movement speeds, blew up 2 sentries, SLAUGHTERED and I mean SLAUGHTERED a good 2/3 of the enemy team, pushed the cart, won, and sang Star Spangled Banner in VC. Best 20 seconds of TF2 I’ll ever play. Soldier Gaming.

If you need to pull out your revolver, it's likely because his back is properly covered so Backstabs are risky. Going for enforcer shots are a good option from a range and a place where they can't immediately focus on you.

He stated long ago that it was essentially a pseudo-ubercharge and easily the best banner, but that it just wasn't used much because it takes so much damage to build.
The one ACTUAL problem with using this in a non-comp setting is the fact that the banner effect is barely noticeable. While the buff banner makes your weapon glow, and the conch makes you walk faster, the backup only gives that small little shield icon which is easily unnoticed during a firefight. Without proper communication, your banner might not even be used by anyone except you. This is why I opt for the buff banner instead- the mini crits are a big ass HEY GET IN THERE AND FUCKING DO SHIT thing.
sir, I must ask if you have looked at his feet? They emanate a circular team colored aura like that of the quickfix when under the effect. I know this because I use the dang thing on my defensive soldier loadout.
I think he means pubbers don't really pay attention to their teammates with such scrutiny, so they may not realize what is happening when the soldier gets the aura. A simple fix would just be pressing V and saying: "Buff banner used! Get in there!" Or something like that

spies are real courageous, disuising themselves and sneaking through the enemy team with the risk of being spotted, and knifing players from behind snipers stay far away from the fray, unless there's a spy on the enemy team

I'd argue that the only thing preventing the Backup from being the best item/weapon in Tf2 is the fact that it only works for 10 seconds after dealing too much damage while the Sticky Bomb Launcher for example works Non stop, plus 10 seconds at a time after having to not die while charging 600 damage AND depending on your team really is kinda hard to deal with sometimes
As someone who has more than 100 hours using this item, I can say that it is quite easy to fill the "rage" meter and what really frustrates is that a medic, despite seeing you activating this item, will not follow you to try to prolong the effect as long as possible.

I'm glad someone of some internet fame is singing the Backup's praises. It's my banner of choice because the 20 HP increase (combined with how it affects medkits) giving a very nice health buffer to let you tank more damage to either survive passively or play more aggressively. (I often consider the Backup a "wanabee Gunboots" of sorts.) And the buff is great in pubs where your entire team is too fucking stupid to aim. Heavy somehow can't hit with a goddamn minigun? Well at least now he has like 400 HP. I mostly started using the Backup with the Black Box (because I'm a little bitch who can't play without healing shoved up my ass, and) because it was a set and I bought the Grenadier's Softcap specifically to have the set bonus way back in the day. But overtime I started to use the Backup as my banner of choice almost always, and I almost always run a banner. I've started to see how amazing the gun is with the Cow Mangler (hitting a charged shot basically gives you your whole charge) and I even run it with Stock / Direct Hit when I have to deal with sentries.
I always run it in more objective focused games like attack/defense and payload where teams need to strategize and coordinate to either push or hold (I usually use the original too). I opt to use the panic attack in less coordinated matches like koth, ctf and even some control point maps. But I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I've made it out of a fight using the backup with less than 20 hp left, it's just so goddamn good.
Fun fact: I was always conscious about using the battalions backup since everyone runs conch. *Now I know I didn’t waste my money on a strange battalions backup*
Thank you for being smart about this item and analyzing it in a mature way. It would have been very easy for anyone to look at all the benefits of the Backup and denounce it as overpowered, but it truly is a strong and well-balanced addition to the Soldier. TF2 needs more passive utility based unlockables in order to help mitigate how utterly insane damage loadouts can be at times.
Yeah I’m currently working on a “best stock launcher loadout” video and the backup is my #1 contender for the secondary rn, with gunboats being the only possible alt. It just brings so much team support, especially in casual where your team can absord maybe hundreds or even thousands of extra damage if nearby.
I've done some calculations. A heavy with the batalions backup at long range AND with the fists of steel has an effective health of... 2142.856666 holy crap. Also with the vaccinator, the heavy basically becomes god with 8571.426664 health.
I'm still shock no one use it more often. When I got it and read it how it works, I thought it's op and people should use it more. XDD I could see it works pretty good in mvm if you have another Soldier, like your team mates just dying to fast, you could have 1 for resistance and the other Soldier have healing to keep team mates alive longer, or have them use buff banner to put in more damage while taking less damage from the bots.
My adhd pushes every anxiety button in my brain when I talk to new people but my autism is like "TELL THEM ALL OF THE RANDOM FUN FACTS YOU HAVE ACCUMULATED THROUGHOUT YOUR ENTIRE LIFE"
My favourite weapon is: winger. Has good damage, reliable, more jump and overall really good. It’s good if you’re in a pinch when you’re low hp and need to pick them out, use the winger. And if you’re REALLY low, just jump away. It’s also pretty balanced as it only has 4 rounds, but all is still good.
Don't forget, the passive +20 to your max health puts you over some crazy important damage thresholds, letting you survive 2 pipes, 2 meatshots, and giving a better chance to live through 2 rockets

I'd argue that the only thing preventing the Backup from being the best item/weapon in Tf2 is the fact that it only works for 10 seconds after dealing too much damage while the Sticky Bomb Launcher for example works Non stop, plus 10 seconds at a time after having to not die while charging 600 damage AND depending on your team really is kinda hard to deal with sometimes

As someone who has more than 100 hours using this item, I can say that it is quite easy to fill the "rage" meter and what really frustrates is that a medic, despite seeing you activating this item, will not follow you to try to prolong the effect as long as possible.
For class like solldier 600 dmg is like a spit. It's so easy to build up, I still wonder why noone is using it.

I'm glad someone of some internet fame is singing the Backup's praises. It's my banner of choice because the 20 HP increase (combined with how it affects medkits) giving a very nice health buffer to let you tank more damage to either survive passively or play more aggressively. (I often consider the Backup a "wanabee Gunboots" of sorts.) And the buff is great in pubs where your entire team is too fucking stupid to aim. Heavy somehow can't hit with a goddamn minigun? Well at least now he has like 400 HP.
I mostly started using the Backup with the Black Box (because I'm a little bitch who can't play without healing shoved up my ass, and) because it was a set and I bought the Grenadier's Softcap specifically to have the set bonus way back in the day. But overtime I started to use the Backup as my banner of choice almost always, and I almost always run a banner. I've started to see how amazing the gun is with the Cow Mangler (hitting a charged shot basically gives you your whole charge) and I even run it with Stock / Direct Hit when I have to deal with sentries.
I always run it in more objective focused games like attack/defense and payload where teams need to strategize and coordinate to either push or hold (I usually use the original too). I opt to use the panic attack in less coordinated matches like koth, ctf and even some control point maps. But I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I've made it out of a fight using the backup with less than 20 hp left, it's just so goddamn good.
Fun fact: I was always conscious about using the battalions backup since everyone runs conch.

Thank you for being smart about this item and analyzing it in a mature way. It would have been very easy for anyone to look at all the benefits of the Backup and denounce it as overpowered, but it truly is a strong and well-balanced addition to the Soldier. TF2 needs more passive utility based unlockables in order to help mitigate how utterly insane damage loadouts can be at times.

Yeah I’m currently working on a “best stock launcher loadout” video and the backup is my #1 contender for the secondary rn, with gunboats being the only possible alt.
It just brings so much team support, especially in casual where your team can absord maybe hundreds or even thousands of extra damage if nearby.

When I got it and read it how it works, I thought it's op and people should use it more. XDD
I could see it works pretty good in mvm if you have another Soldier, like your team mates just dying to fast, you could have 1 for resistance and the other Soldier have healing to keep team mates alive longer, or have them use buff banner to put in more damage while taking less damage from the bots.

My favourite weapon is: winger.
Has good damage, reliable, more jump and overall really good.
It’s good if you’re in a pinch when you’re low hp and need to pick them out, use the winger. And if you’re REALLY low, just jump away.
It’s also pretty balanced as it only has 4 rounds, but all is still good.
