@@pkeane8098 can personally verify on both the original cart as well as pretty much every emulator and re-release. There are multiple places you can do this, but specifically in SMB3 world 1-3 if you crouched on a white block just before the blackout ending for 3-5 seconds, Mario would go behind all the blocks and bushes and even behind the black-out curtain into a hidden Toad House area where he'd get one of 3 warp whistles in the game.
Well yeah, that’s another way to make it so more people can beat it. Most people go the hint route though, as often reducing the difficulty further in an uno mas puzzle isn’t feasible due to the nature of the genre - they are already too minimalistic!
The Link in shallow water Uno Mas level solution may have been to turn around at the spike, drop a bomb, and use the shield to block the explosion to bounce slightly away from the bomb and over the spike? I don't remember if Link's own bombs knock him back with the shield..
@@LordRaziel1977 Been commenting on a few others suggesting this: I tried it myself. If this is the solution, I'm doing it wrong. I can block the bomb blast, but the spikes hurt me still
@@IRanOutOfPhrases Yeah, me too. The first main problem is that even dropping the bomb, it drifts too far away to even affect you. So I hold onto the bomb as long as possible and then drop it so it doesn't drift away, but then the spikes still kill me. Even walking half-way across the spike (up until right before the hitbox of the spike would kill you) doesn't help. I did notice that if you throw the bomb against the wall on the left and then immediately shield, the bomb bouncing off the shield actually knocks you back way further than if you shield a bomb that's blowing up... but you're way too far from the spike for that to be effective. Edit: According to another comment I just found, it says to press down and jump at the exact same time while walking to the right to clear the spike. Which does work.
10:23 Fun fact, Dave: the reason why Mario does a little hop is a reference to Mario being able to go behind everything after ducking for a few seconds on the white platforms in SMB3. Mario can't do it in this game, hence the little hop. It's a really cool little easter egg.
10:28 I’m pretty sure people explain this to you in the comments every time you see it in a level. It’s acknowledging the secret in Super Mario Bros. 3 where you would duck on a platform like that to find the magic whistle.
Y'know, whenever Dave says something like "I think this was faster than last time" or something like that, it would be nice if our handy editor (thank you for all your hard work!) could add a confirmation or denial of the statement to save us time rewinding and timing things. Just a thought.

22:54 Im pretty sure the reason for Bowser's eye flashing with the white pupil during his "running" animation is because thats actually his falling animation for when the player hits an axe on a castle level. Its a reference to Bowser's similar animation from Super Mario Bros 1 All Stars where he does that upon the player destroying the bridge he was standing on.
5:27 I believe the cape actually makes you like a pixel or so taller, and the one way gate pushes you downward unless you crouch, which only takes damage once from the lava because of it being the same underneath the character adding more to the hitbox, then after you take damage it won’t anymore
About Bowser's flashing white eye: it's been part of his death animation forever, I'd explain it as "when you smack that axe, he realizes that the bridge has been cut and his entire life *flashes* in front of his eyes"
5:32 I think what is happening is something similar to the stand on lava trick with mushroom platforms. When Mario exits the door as Cape Mario, the one way clips Mario’s hit box through the floor and into the lava just enough for him to hit the kill plane. When crouching, Mario’s size is halved and he doesn’t clip through the floor.
@16:00 try walking up to ground spike. Turn back and drop bomb to your left. Then either charge attack bomb to bounce over ground spike or shield so that the bomb blows you over the ground spike.
The link part called changed foot wear I think you have to throw the bomb next to the spike and dash into the bomb with your sword which gives you a little bit of height and since it’s water you have enough time to float to the other side with that little bit of height. I think that’s how you do it. Also I love your videos keep up the amazing content!

Not sure if anyone did say it, but for the bullet bill water level, when you are floating in the water, you're not on ground, so when you're not facing a wall, just boost. You don't have to jump in order to boost, you just need to be in the air.
the white platform are an easter egg, in smb3 crouching on white platforms made you phase through the background objects like platforms, bushes and the square at the end allowing you to get warp whistles

The white platform hop was intentional because in the actual Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES, Mario falls through the white platform which allows you to go behind background elements and behind enemies and would lead to a warp whistle.
