Hey! 😊 Yes, your routine looks good! 😊 If any sensitivities occur, consider alternating between Salicylic Acid and Retinol in your evening skincare routine - as mentioned in the video! :)
Hi! After I wash my face, I use The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution once in the evening, then top it with moisturizer every day. However, I still suffer from huge pores. My parents recommended adding The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum to reduce my pores. Does it really reduce pores? And if so, how often do I pair the two? Is niacinamide every day in the evening also or twice a day?
It only reduces their size when they are enlarged due to excessive oil production or when they're clogged by debris like dead skin cells, primarily affecting the top layers. Niacinamide and salicylic acid (SA) can help balance oil production, and SA also removes dead skin cells. This can make the pores appear smaller, yes, if that was the initial cause. Of course, if their size is due to genetics, there isn't much that can be done to change that.
Hi Melissa! I have an oily acne prone and dull skin, Can you review my skincare routine and suggest changes if necessary? Morning : Lotus Herbal Tea Tree Face Wash Plum Vitamin C Serum Lakme Peach Milk Spf 24 Moisturizer Sunscreen Night: Minimalist 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum Moisturizer
Hey! 😊 Your routine looks good. However, I also recommend checking your diet, stress levels, and sleep, as these factors can also influence your skin and acne.
Hi! I am from a hot climate where the temperature is always above 30 degree Celsius so the room temperature is never 25 unless it is winter. So can you suggest if i should keep my ordinary serums such as salysilic acid 2%,niacinamide, alpha arbutin, multipeptide hair serum etc in my normal fridge or would that seperate my serums and make it less effective? Or should i just put it in a drawer away from sunlight? And also new to skincare ,so haven't been able to buy a skincare fridge yet. And what about my sunscreen should also keep it there or 32+ degree temperature would cause any harm to it either? Hope you will answer❤🎉
With such temperatures, I would personally store all skincare products in the fridge. You can use a skincare fridge, which has slightly higher temperatures, but that’s another investment you might not want to make. Your normal fridge works too. If you don’t like your products too cold, simply take them out a little before use and put them back after.

Hey! :) What's your skin type? Overall, your skincare routine looks good. However, I'm not sure about CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser as that one is meant for dry skin. @@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet My skin type I would say it’s more on the dryer side especially in the winter, but it can get oily in the summer. Thank you for reminding💗
Have you ever tried the CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser? It's a really good foaming cleanser that isn't too stripping. If you're using niacinamide and the CeraVe moisturizing cream (I use this cream as well) your face is getting plenty of moisturization. I agree, and would maybe try a different cleanser if your acne is persisting.
Hi 😊 I loooove your videos and how you explain everything ❤ I just received this salicylic acid and I use hyaluronic acid serum from Loreal that I use on damp skin after cleansing. So I am confused which product goes first because I want them both in my morning routine. Hyaluronic acid on damp skin or salicylic acid? Greetings from Sweden 😘
I ordered The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution, I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail. I'm really nervous to try it as there are many reviews on The Ordinary website that outline allergic reactions or irritation due to alleged reformulation issues. My skin is acne prone (and stubborn), I was hoping to incorporate this solution but now I'm a bit unsure if I should try it. Do you have any experience with the newest formula?
I haven't experienced any issues with the Salicylic Acid exfoliant. You can also do a patch test (th-cam.com/video/zhCee7lbIzE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Qg0QJY73Q4y9AmY1) before using it. However, I also recommend considering factors like lack of sleep, stress, and your diet, as these can contribute to acne. See here: th-cam.com/users/postUgkxdw_LYE11A_BXgv1hUa_8inPqL6mt5ZE8

Hi @melissa what if I'm using a hydrating toner at night. what should be the correct order. Hydrating toner before or after the ordinary salicylic acid 2%solution?
Hello .. I have large pores and pigmentation near pores which are caused by acne.. Because of your videos I started using Glycolic with ninacinamide in the PM and it worked too good but Is there a better combination to get pores and pigmentation, dark spots can be treated. I can use any ordinary product combination you suggest as per AM and PM .. right now I use glycolic and ninacinamide .. any more additions to PM and any thing for AM I can use • Thanks in advance I see retinol, salysilicnand alpha arbutin also as good products with your explanation.. how can I use them in my routine?
Hm... it depends on your skin tolerance and how often you are going to do this throughout the week. It may work; however, it could also lead to sensitivities over time. I recommend just using one of them-the one that targets your skin concerns the most-or use them on alternate days, adjusting the frequency to your tolerance.
Hmm, if these issues continue, it may indicate that you do not tolerate salicylic acid (SA) well, especially since you've experienced similar problems with the peeling solution. You can give it a bit more time, but if it doesn't improve, I would recommend discontinuing SA products and trying a different acid, such as Mandelic Acid 10% by The Ordinary. Before doing so, give your skin a rest for a week or so to allow it to recover.
hi melissa, can i use salicylic acid 2% in my morning routine and then in the evening (or night) switch it out with glycolic acid 7% by the ordinary as well? i don’t know my skin type because on my forehead and nose it’s oily but the rest of my face isn’t
i just watched your other video on how to use glycolic acid 7% so should i use both products in the evening but only use one per evening and alternate between the two? thank you :)
Well, you could theoretically use one in the morning and the other in the evening, but it's best to use both in the evening and alternate between them. However, even that may become too much at some point, so it might be better to use them every other day. For example, use salicylic acid (SA) on Monday, then take a break on Tuesday (just wash normally), use glycolic acid on Wednesday, take a break on Thursday, and so on.
