i just wanted to say.. that ur videos are amazing! they are specific and clear for all the people (like me) who are still a bit new to skincare and are overwhelmed with all the products! thank you so much!!
I am looking for a vid guide on using this 3 specific products which I was thinking might not exist because its too specific, but here you are! Thank you so much! You’re very helpful! Im so relieved and happy I found your vid! ❤️ I can start using these products now 😊😌
Hi..just purchased Glycolic acid 7% today although I’ve been using Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin already as my daily skin care routine. This video is very helpful and informative. Thank you so much🥰
Thank you so much for every explanation you gave! All the questions I had you answered! ❤ I’m a beginner and the words/ uses confused me until you explained everything word per word! ❤ I appreciate you! ❤
Hey :) I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video! :) Keep in mind: However, how often you can exfoliate your skin depends on your skin concerns and tolerance. Some people can exfoliate daily, whereas others prefer to exfoliate less often. See what works best for you! But start slowly and adjust it over time! :)
THANK YOU 💞💞🥂 I have been look for this exact vid. I bought the ordinary 7%glycolic toner and just wanted to know what is safe to pair it with etc. So helpful, thank you 👌💞
suuuuper in love with your videos about the ordinary products!!! u give me so much useful information as well as what to do & what to not do!! much love for u from malaysia
Can we use cera ve foaming facial cleanser and the ordinary ( glycolic acid 7% tonning solution and niacinamide 10% zinc 1% and alpha arbutin 2% + ha) together?
Your video's are always great with full of informations. I want to know, I have sensitive dry skin, if i have to choose one between glycolic acid and alpha aurbutin, which one i will choose and will be more effective?
If you have sensitive skin, you may not tolerate Glycolic Acid. In this case, you could either go with Mandelic Acid 10% and then Alpha Arbutin 2%, or choose just one of them. A simple routine could look like this: AM: Clean face with your favorite cleanser. Pat dry. Apply Alpha Arbutin. Wait 30-60 seconds. Use sunscreen when exposed to sunlight. PM: Clean face with a non-exfoliating acid cleanser. Pat dry. Apply Mandelic Acid 10%.
I just came from your other video on glycolic acid. I was doing this regime but I think I need to stop glycolic acid after watching your previous episode. Thank you for your videos.
I always use exfoliating toner on clean skin AND after that a hydrating toner. First I let exfoliating toner (low pH) sit on skin few minutes up to 10 min, to do its job. I do not immediately go in with hydrating toner, because that will disrupt the low pH of exfoliator. In that aspect, I disagree with this video :) I think the way I am doing it makes more sense. Otherwise you hydrate, by patting on layers of hydrating toner and then wipe OFF that hydration layer with a cotton pad and an exfoliator. ;)
@@lovethyself2439 The Ordinary doesn't recommend putting them into the fridge, however, if you have for a longer period of time more then 30 degrees, then yes😊
So i have been dermarolling should i do before or after product , or long l wait to do either derma rolling or glycotic acid 7%, which I am glad I watched this I thought this was a daily toner
I have gotten that question so often, but I have never used it. Most people mentioned that it irritated their skin. So, therefore I do not recommend it. However, it may be very individual, so I cannot really answer this question, maybe someone else here can help you a bit better. 🙂
Hi Melissa, thank you so much for the videos I’ve been binge watching your videos all day as I’m a skincare newbie. I get that this is a PM routine but for the morning routine can I use the toning solution, vitamin c ,alpha Arbutin, moisturizer then sunscreen ? Pls kindly respond. Thank you
Hey, thank you! :) I wouldn't use Glycolic Acid in the AM as it's an exfoliant. Also, not everyone tolerates daily use of this exfoliant. See here for more information: th-cam.com/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9awJsm9oTWWXW-pp
Hi Melissa, I love so much your sharing and thankful for that, I start to use The Ordinary but I just wondering which website I can order the Original products .
Yes, still, you need to adjust it based on your skin's response. This means you may be able to use it more often or less often. Some people are even able to use it daily.
Yeah, that's the question. Technically, they say waiting between 30-60 seconds should be enough, but practically, I find it works best without moisturizer, or at least giving it a few minutes in between.
Hi Melissa I’ve comodonal acne and hypigmentation If I use of use glycolic acid, peeling solution, alpha arbutin is it the right product? Also between salicylic acid and Niacinimade which will be good to add and what’s the correct method and time to use Please reply 🥺 Thanks,
TO Peeling Solution, Glycolic Acid, and Salicylic Acid are all exfoliating acid products. Do not overuse exfoliating acids, as it can lead to sensitivities and irritations. Use Niacinamide and Alpha Arbutin in the AM and your exfoliating acids on alternate days (or when needed) in the PM. Also, it's important to find the underlying cause of your acne, such as stress, lack of sleep, hygiene, hormonal factors, genetics, diet, food intolerance, or a reaction to fragrance, preservatives, or other toxins, etc.
Hey! Your videos are so informative❤ Could you please advice me about what should i apply in am and pm skincare routine... My skin type is dry to normal and also i have dark spots with pigmentation Hope you will reply 😭
Hi Melissa, thank you so so so much for all these videos. You don't have and idea of how much you have impacted my education on skincare. I would appreciate if you can help me to check if this routine is okay, i suffer from Acne and Hyperpigmetation. I just buy the De dennis gross alpha beta peel and I plan to use for the PM routine, but for the morning my plan is the next one: On day on Am - cleanse - glycolic acid toner - alpha arbutin - niacinamide - hyluronic acid - moisturizer PM - Cleanse - Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Bete Peel - Mosturizer Next AM Day - cleanse - Acne Toner - alpha arbutin - niacinamide - hyluronic acid - moisturizer PM (Same routine as before) And at least every 2 weeks, 1 day the: Aha 30 + BHA 2 peeling solution
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much for replying! ♥ Skin Type: Combination - Comedonal Acne Acne Toner: Refreshing Toner with Hazel Aloe & Chamomile (It's from Walgreens) I've just started yesterday (3/7/23) with the Dr. Dennis gross alpha beta universal daily peel. I haven't used the Alpha Arbutin yet, i just buy it yesterday. I've been usen for about 2 months the Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, the Aha 30 + BHA peeling solution (Twice a week), and Glycolic Acid every day that i don't do the peeling solution followed by the Hyaluronic. Sadly haven't seen huge improvements in my skin, I do see that the pores and textures have minimized, but the acne and hyperpigmentation hasn't change at all. That's why I want to try the Dennis Gross Peel and the Alpha Arbutin.
@@FoxyNoir Ok, have you ever tried Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, or Retinol/Retinoid like Differin gel for your acne? Glycolic Acid is great for those with a drier skin type, dullness, and hyperpigmentation. However, it isn't the best choice for those with acne-prone skin.
@@FoxyNoir Also, do you experience hyperpigmentation from previous acne? And where do you get acne? How much acne do you get? Have you ever gotten your comedones extracted?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Yes, hyperpigmentation has been a huge struggle all my life from acne and i have a fewww scars from previus acne. Right now, in my 30s the acne im getting is mostly on the Jawline & Chin and a few rare times in Cheeks. I'll say on a daily basis i normally will have around 2 to 3 outbreaks, but sometimes it gets aggressive like right now where I can have 7 to 10. Recently i get treated by a esthetician who removed my comedones, but after that, It get continued to get many pimples.
Technically, yes; however, the combination of Glycolic Acid and Azelaic Acid can be quite potent for some individuals. In that case, I recommend using them in separate routines. You can either use one in the AM and the other in the PM or both in the PM (my suggestion), but on alternate days.
Yes, this can work, but use HA first after Glycolic Acid. Although, I suggest taking one of the serums out of the routine; otherwise, it may become a bit too much. For instance, you could use HA and Niacinamide after Glycolic Acid and use HA and Alpha Arbutin in the AM - this way, it may layer much better! :)
Thank you! :) I have the perfect video for you: How to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution in a Skincare Routine: th-cam.com/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/w-d-xo.html The Caffeine Solution and Niacinamide can be used daily in the AM and PM :)
hey can i use minimalist glycolic acid toner 8% , minimalist 2% Alpha Arbutin serum and Vitamin C 10% face serum all together??? if yes can you please tell me the AM/PM routine for the same. Thank you xoxo
If your skin tolerates that combination, then yes. I recommend watching the video below, as you can still follow the information. :) See here: th-cam.com/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Thank you for the video. I’ve been using the Ordinary Glycolic acid toning solution for three weeks with the Cerave SA Soothing Cream and I’ve noticed a twitching in my left eye. Do these two products go well together or do they conflict? My skin issues are acne and hyperpigmentation.
Are you sure that this is coming from the products 🤔? it may be something else, such as stress. 🤔? They do not conflict, but using multiple products with acids in one routine can result in over-exfoliating your skin, which can lead to burning and stinging.
It definitely can yes, and this depends on your skin type. If it's very strong, do not use the product. Try the lactic acid, it tends to work better on stinging skin types. Also, have a look at this, it may help you: The importance of Skin Type: imgur.com/aIjADWa Hydroxy Acids: imgur.com/o28ez9X
Hello! I was looking in the internet information of what can I mixed the ordinary products and I found you! I love how reply to everyone and I really need help! Hopefully you can answer my questions. I’m 25 years with oily skin and still suffer from acne, I have acne dark spots and scars. I’m trying to get rid of them so here’s what I have. THE ORDINARY Aha 30% + BHA 2% Niacinamide Alpha Arbutin Glycolic Acid 7% Salicylic Acid 2% REVOLUTION SKINCARE LONDON 0.2% Retinol 2% Salicylic Acid CERAVE Salicylic Acid cleanser, facial moisturizer SPF and skin renewing night cream
Hm, I am not 100% sure if the products you have can help you treat your acne. However, you can try it and see if it works; if not, add an acne treatment! I try to give you the information you need to build your routine, and if you still have more questions, I am happy to help you. You have: THE ORDINARY Aha 30% + BHA 2%. (Mask) Niacinamide (Water-Based Serum) Alpha Arbutin (Water-Based Serum) Glycolic Acid 7% (Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant) Salicylic Acid 2% (Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant) REVOLUTION SKINCARE LONDON 0.2% Retinol (Anhydrous Solution) 2% Salicylic Acid (Water-Based Serum) Order of application = Cleanser Toner (you do not have one) Exfoliant (Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid) Serums (1. Water-Based, 2. Anhydrous Solutions & Oils) Moisturizer & Suspensions You should not use more than one exfoliant in the same routine, and you should use them preferred in the PM. Also, I recommend using it only once per day. When using an exfoliant for the first time, use it every other day in the beginning and see how your skin responds to it. If everything is fine and feels good, it can be applied daily. It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: th-cam.com/video/r04W7rQV1R0/w-d-xo.html) "Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. As I have a combination skin myself, depending on what routine I'm doing, I don't feel the need to apply a moisturiser at all or only on the dry areas. One that I like a lot is from La Roche Posay Toleraine Ultra Fluid Hydrating Cream. (Comes in a serum-like pump bottle)
Hello, your videos are great, I have a question? I can use this on the face that has spots, and if my face has pimples and spots, is this to treat it? And won't this cause any damage? And in what way can I use this? If it is possible, please answer me. I will be very happy. Thank you.💐🥰
Are you referring to all three of them, or are you just looking at a particular product that I showcased in this video? I highly recommend watching my beginner's guide: th-cam.com/video/diaLVk_EsI4/w-d-xo.html
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you for your answer, I mean the ordinary Glycolic Acid 7%, is this for the treatment of pimples and spots on the face, does it have any harm? to use
@@Dinalalin Well, it may help, but generally, no, it's not a treatment for pimples. Although, because it's an acid, it could be helpful. Also, for dark spots, it may show some improvements. However, if you overuse it, it can harm the skin. Therefore, starting with 2-3 times per week in your evening skincare routine is advised.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you, dear Melissa ,for your reply. ❤️ I didn't have any spots on my face, only the places where the pimples were were spotted. Is it okay to use it? I am thinking that it will not damage my face
Hi Melissa, thank you for another detailed video. I am hooked on to skin care thanks to your informative videos❤️ just wanted to check if this routine is ok ? Pm - cleanse - glycolic acid toner - hyaluronic acid - alpha arbutin - niacinamide - moisturizer (if required)
@@poojahiray6859 Ok. I recommend choosing one exfoliant. Either Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid. Or finish one of them at first and then move on to the other one! :)
Hi Melissa! Ive been using and following thse routine for years and its amazing.. recently added the TO rosehip seed oil and noticed that Iam getting tiny pimples and bumps. Should I stop?
Hey Melissa, I have one concern regarding my skin care I have dry and pigmented skin and I’m thinking of started using alpha arburtin and niacinamide with moisturizer in a daily basis is that okey using both product together in daily basis skin routine ?
Hello :) Well, it depends on your personal skin tolerance. You could also alternate both products on a daily basis to see how well you tolerate this, and then slowly increase the frequency as your skin gets used to the treatments.
I love your videos they are very helpful but I have a question I’m using Alba botanica face wash as a cleanser(it has salicylic acid) and I have oily acne prone skin with hyper pigmentation,is it safe for me to use the Glycolic acid toner with this cleanser together .
Hey :) Thank you! Well, this combination may be a bit too strong, but this also depends on what your skin can handle... I recommend using them at separate times and whenever you are using Glycolic acid, switch to a gentle cleanser to avoid dryness or other irritations :)
Hello, your channel is amazing😍My favorite 😍😍but I would like to ask you I bought the peeling Solution and Glycolic acid together could I use the peeling Solution once a week and the glycolic acid everyday? As My face is so dull and many irregularities and texture I mean I won’t use both in the same day
Hello 😀 Yes, that's how you should do it. But as I mentioned at the end of the video, start slowly with the Glycolic Acid. Use it 2-3 times for the first couple of weeks. And after that, gradually increase the frequency until you can tolerate daily use. Just to avoid any irritation. When I used the product for the first time which was about one year ago, I got terrible breakouts all over because I did not know it ;) Well I also used it in combination with other products.. but in case you want to see it here is an old review: th-cam.com/video/wj2auWEAWYw/w-d-xo.html
Melissa Van Dijk hi melissa, i use first cleanser (my own, not from ordinary) then toner (also my own not from ordinary) then niacinemide then do a layering of hyluronic acid then ordinary moisturizer. Can you please suggest where i can use/layer alpha arbutin as i have little pigment and uneven skin tone Thanks
@@meerubatta1247 Hey😊 Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid are all water-based serums, so: The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). Hi Melissa! Can I ask if the The Ordinary Glycolic Acid, The Ordinary Niaciniamide and Alpha Arbutin are good for comedonal acnes? I have a lot of comedonal acnes and overtime they turn out as red acnes.
Hi is it okay to use skin1004 centella poremizing facial cleanser and glycolic7% toning and niacinamide 10% from Ordinary? Just to confirm because i don’t want to get my skin irritated. thanks
No, please keep Differin and Glycolic Acid in separate routines, since it can lead to irritation when repeating it over and over again. However, you are fine to use Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide before your Differin Gel. So, you would basically have 2 PM routines and alternate between them. Make sure that you are finding the right frequency on how often you can exfoliate your skin. Also have a look at this video here: Can I Use Glycolic Acid Toner Everyday?: th-cam.com/video/XEi0LqfCF3E/w-d-xo.html
Guys read this it's important... Acids typically have a pH between 3.0 and 4.0, while niacinamide is around 5.0 to 7.0. When you mix them together, the niacinamide will raise the pH of the acid. This study compared the absorption of AHAs at pH 3.0 and 7.0, and found that the higher the pH, the less the skin absorbs. That means you'd be missing out on all the benefits your acid has to offer. The solution to this is to apply them at different times of the day. Or wait 30 minutes between the two.
We do not mix them; we layer the products. But I like that people always use some studies to claim something with no actual use under real-world conditions. That article was just written for sales purposes and was taken out of context; it included lots of affiliate links and was optimized for SEO, and was taken out of context. It wasn't looking at specific products or the formulations, so it's useless. Anyway, fact is that the formulation matters, and when layering the products, there is no issue. For this to happen, you need a lot of product, or it would take hours or days, or you really needed to put the ingredients together in a bottle. But even when doing that, you still can make them stable so that nothing will happen. It would only be an issue for the people formulating the products. So you can use them after another without concerns.
@@dq8330 According to Google: Mix= combine or put together to form one substance or mass. Layering= one thickness, course, or fold laid or lying over or under another. So if you mix Niacinamide with your acid the pH of the acid will go up and the pH of your Niacinamide goes down. And when doing this, it may cause issues, and the products may be less effective. However, I have seen formulations where both are mixed that are more effective. (Newer Niacinamide formulations show that they are most effective at a pH of around 3.8 when properly formulated) But I assume that mixing it without the correct ingredients may cause issues and make both products useless. (or less effective) However, when you apply one product after another, this is not a reason for concern. So you can use your BHA or AHA wait 30 seconds to a minute in between and layer the Niacinamide on top. Both are in a stable formulation that would likely need hours or even days for something to happen. Still, since your skin is also absorbing the products, it won't do anything unless you really use a lot of product to stay on your skin, but even then, it may not be an issue. (Half a dropper and a cotton pad full of BHA or AHA, so that it becomes wet and stays on top) just keep in mind I am no expert that's just me and my books, so this may still be a bit wrong, so if you really want to understand it, I recommend asking a chemist that's formulating the products. Fact is there is no reason for concern when doing it and you still get all the benefits! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet omg... thank you so much for the lengthy info. Now I get it. I thought layering had the same effect as mixing. But that's cool makes so much sense now.

Do you mean the 10% from the Ordinary? If so, yes. But I would be cautious when adding 15 or even 20% suspensions/creams that may irritate the skin! :)

Hi Melissa, first off wanted to say thank you for your videos they are so helpful and informative !! Sending love from the Dubai ❤️😊 I have recently purchased the ordinary azelaic acid suspension and salicylic acid masque and was wondering how to incorporate them into my routine for AM and PM I use cerave hydrating facial cleanser, niacinamide, cerave moisturizing cream (and sun cream of course !) and once a week I use the ordinary AHA BHA peeling solution (though I am planning to cut down to once a month) any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you ! 😁😆
Hello ❤️ Dubai, I was there... a couple of times at the airport. 🤪🙈 You can use the Azelaic Acid after the Niacinamide in the morning ( There is no need to apply it twice a day it will have the same effect) Regarding the Salicylic Acid masque, you can use it once a week in the evening. Or you can only use it for spot treatment. Since you are using the AHA+BHA solution, I recommend using it every 3-4 days, which means Monday AHA+BHA, Thursday Salycilic Acid mask. You can use the same routine as with the AHA+BHA. Edit. Why do you want to use the AHA+BHA only once a month🤔?
Hi Mellisa, I'm a new fan.I don't know if niacinamide serum can be used together with glycolic toner.I'm quite confused with what internet says it's not good to use glycolic and niacinamide as it reduce the effects of both products?
Hey! :) You can use Niacinamide after Glycolic Acid. You can layer one after the other, but do not mix them together. See here: Can I use Niacinamide with AHA or BHA (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid): th-cam.com/video/Pw1iWF_Hdnk/w-d-xo.html
Hey:) Are all of these products from The Ordinary? If so, which lactic acid and retinoid are you using? If you are combining lower-strength products, it may work. However, for higher-strength products, I suggest not using lactic acid and retinoid together.
Hi! Currently my routine is CeraVe foaming cleanser Alpha Arbutin Niacinamide Elf Happy Hydration moisturizer I want to add in the Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid, and I was wondering if I should include it before my Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide, or after? This will be my first time using a chemical exfoliant, and I have no idea where to include it in my routine.
Use Azelaic Acid after your moisturiser step or skip the moisturiser and replace it as your 'moisturiser' step :) This depends on your skin an what feels the best :)
How could I use ,tranexamic acid , salicylic acid ,niacinamide, alpha arbutin and differin all in one routine and what order . could I use - salicylic acid + alpha arbutin + niacinamide .Then tranexamic acid + differin at night .Or is this not good and too much ?
I do not recommend mixing those ingredients. It may be way too strong, and you will end up with irritation sooner or later. When using Differin, you should avoid any other products that may lead to irritation. (at least during the first weeks) So in your case, I recommend using only Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide. But best would be to stick to Differin only for a while and see how your skin performs.

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEOOOO!!!! You're the best!!!!
Your video's are always great with full of informations. I want to know,
I have sensitive dry skin, if i have to choose one between glycolic acid and alpha aurbutin, which one i will choose and will be more effective?
If you have sensitive skin, you may not tolerate Glycolic Acid. In this case, you could either go with Mandelic Acid 10% and then Alpha Arbutin 2%, or choose just one of them.
A simple routine could look like this:
AM:
Clean face with your favorite cleanser.
Pat dry.
Apply Alpha Arbutin.
Wait 30-60 seconds.
Use sunscreen when exposed to sunlight.
PM:
Clean face with a non-exfoliating acid cleanser.
Pat dry.
Apply Mandelic Acid 10%.
I just came from your other video on glycolic acid. I was doing this regime but I think I need to stop glycolic acid after watching your previous episode. Thank you for your videos.
I just replied you 😀
Hye, I really love your videos and luckily, I was looking for this topic and you popped out on my recommendation. Love from Malaysia🥰💕
Otherwise you hydrate, by patting on layers of hydrating toner and then wipe OFF that hydration layer with a cotton pad and an exfoliator. ;)
Hi Melissa, I just wanna inform that my set already arrived and I am following the routine you told me. Thank you very much 😊
Great 😀 Please let me know about your results. I am not sure if I told you so, but breakouts during the first 2 weeks are normal.. ;)

I wouldn't use Glycolic Acid in the AM as it's an exfoliant. Also, not everyone tolerates daily use of this exfoliant. See here for more information: th-cam.com/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=9awJsm9oTWWXW-pp

Hey! The video is very helpful ❤️
Can I use the ordinary glycolic acid toner daily with Hydraulic acid or 2x times a week?
Yes, still, you need to adjust it based on your skin's response. This means you may be able to use it more often or less often. Some people are even able to use it daily.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you :)
Thank you so much for this video, but may i ask how long should i wait to apply moisturizer after the ordinary glycolic acid was applied?
Yeah, that's the question. Technically, they say waiting between 30-60 seconds should be enough, but practically, I find it works best without moisturizer, or at least giving it a few minutes in between.
Hi Melissa I’ve comodonal acne and hypigmentation If I use of use glycolic acid, peeling solution, alpha arbutin is it the right product?
Also between salicylic acid and Niacinimade which will be good to add and what’s the correct method and time to use
Please reply 🥺
Thanks,
TO Peeling Solution, Glycolic Acid, and Salicylic Acid are all exfoliating acid products.

On day on Am
- cleanse
- glycolic acid toner
- alpha arbutin
- niacinamide

- moisturizer
PM
- Cleanse
- Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Bete Peel
- Mosturizer
Next AM Day

- Acne Toner
- alpha arbutin
- niacinamide
- hyluronic acid
- moisturizer

(Same routine as before)
And at least every 2 weeks, 1 day the: Aha 30 + BHA 2 peeling solution
Hey! :)
What's your skin type?
For how long have you been doing this routine?
How's it going so far?
What Acne Toner do you use?
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you so much for replying! ♥
Skin Type: Combination - Comedonal Acne
Acne Toner: Refreshing Toner with Hazel Aloe & Chamomile (It's from Walgreens)
I've just started yesterday (3/7/23) with the Dr.
Thanks for the video, May I know if I can Azelaic acid all these 3 ingredients?
Technically, yes; however, the combination of Glycolic Acid and Azelaic Acid can be quite potent for some individuals. In that case, I recommend using them in separate routines. You can either use one in the AM and the other in the PM or both in the PM (my suggestion), but on alternate days.
you are love. Beautifully put every info.👍🏼❤️
Thank you so much! :)
What was your The Ordinary Moisturiser?😻 thanks sooooo much!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Yes, I used the Ordinary Moisturiser :)
I'm planning to use :
1 glycolic acid
2 niacinamide
3 alpha rubtin
4 hyaluronic
Is it good?
BTW thank you so much for your efforts
Yes, this can work, but use HA first after Glycolic Acid. Although, I suggest taking one of the serums out of the routine; otherwise, it may become a bit too much. For instance, you could use HA and Niacinamide after Glycolic Acid and use HA and Alpha Arbutin in the AM - this way, it may layer much better! :)
Your video is very useful. Can I use caffeine with niacinamide and glycolic acid? If yes, it should be in what sequence?

Thank you for the video. I’ve been using the Ordinary Glycolic acid toning solution for three weeks with the Cerave SA Soothing Cream and I’ve noticed a twitching in my left eye. Do these two products go well together or do they conflict?
My skin issues are acne and hyperpigmentation.
Are you sure that this is coming from the products 🤔? it may be something else, such as stress. 🤔?
They do not conflict, but using multiple products with acids in one routine can result in over-exfoliating your skin, which can lead to burning and stinging.
Omg Melissa am glad u upload this video this toner suppose to have a burning thinglin sensation????
It definitely can yes, and this depends on your skin type. If it's very strong, do not use the product. Try the lactic acid, it tends to work better on stinging skin types. Also, have a look at this, it may help you:

THE ORDINARY
Aha 30% + BHA 2%
Niacinamide
Alpha Arbutin
Glycolic Acid 7%
Salicylic Acid 2%
REVOLUTION SKINCARE LONDON
0.2% Retinol
2% Salicylic Acid
CERAVE
Salicylic Acid cleanser, facial moisturizer SPF and skin renewing night cream
Hm, I am not 100% sure if the products you have can help you treat your acne. However, you can try it and see if it works; if not, add an acne treatment!
I try to give you the information you need to build your routine, and if you still have more questions, I am happy to help you.
You have:
THE ORDINARY
Aha 30% + BHA 2%. (Mask)
Niacinamide (Water-Based Serum)
Alpha Arbutin (Water-Based Serum)
Glycolic Acid 7% (Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant)
Salicylic Acid 2% (Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant)
REVOLUTION SKINCARE LONDON
0.2% Retinol (Anhydrous Solution)
2% Salicylic Acid (Water-Based Serum)
Order of application =
Cleanser
Toner (you do not have one)
Exfoliant (Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid)
Serums (1. Water-Based, 2. Anhydrous Solutions & Oils)
Moisturizer & Suspensions
You should not use more than one exfoliant in the same routine, and you should use them preferred in the PM.
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: th-cam.com/video/r04W7rQV1R0/w-d-xo.html)
"Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: th-cam.com/video/l_C7HtO826A/w-d-xo.html)

Hey Melissa, I have one concern regarding my skin care I have dry and pigmented skin and I’m thinking of started using alpha arburtin and niacinamide with moisturizer in a daily basis is that okey using both product together in daily basis skin routine ?

@@meerubatta1247 Hey😊
Alpha Arbutin, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid are all water-based serums, so:
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
However, you may find it a bit too much so, you could also use two of the water-based serums in the AM and two in the PM.
Like so:
AM:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Niacinamide
- (Optional) Oil and/or Moisturiser
- SPF
PM:
- Cleanser
- Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Alpha Arbutin
- (Optional) Oil and/or Moisturiser
Hope, this helps!🥰

No, please keep Differin and Glycolic Acid in separate routines, since it can lead to irritation when repeating it over and over again. However, you are fine to use Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide before your Differin Gel. So, you would basically have 2 PM routines and alternate between them.
Make sure that you are finding the right frequency on how often you can exfoliate your skin.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet what's the difference between layering and mixing?
I genuinely want to know.
@@dq8330 According to Google:
Mix= combine or put together to form one substance or mass.
(Half a dropper and a cotton pad full of BHA or AHA, so that it becomes wet and stays on top)
just keep in mind I am no expert that's just me and my books, so this may still be a bit wrong, so if you really want to understand it, I recommend asking a chemist that's formulating the products.
Fact is there is no reason for concern when doing it and you still get all the benefits! :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet omg... thank you so much for the lengthy info. Now I get it.
I thought layering had the same effect as mixing. But that's cool makes so much sense now.

- Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F
- Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%

hello❤ i finally bought alpha arbutin and niacimide :) i have a question, what do u think about my evening routine now😊? i use in the evening 1) step hyaluronic acid or snail serum 3) alpha arbutin 4) niacimide and 5) retinol or vitamin c. do u think its too much?
morning: cleanser, toner, hyaluronic acid, alpha arbutin, moisturizer, suncreme
I think that's a bit too much. Use HA or Snail Essence, Niacinamide, and Alpha Arbutin in the AM, and HA or Snail Essence and Retinol or Vitamin C in the PM. By the way, do you use The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid Toner? And what Vitamin C and Retinol products do you use? I'm sorry if you have already told me this, but I can't see past conversations anymore. 😞
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Hallo Melissa! Thank you for answer ❤️. Yes i use also glycolic toner ordinary in the morning after cleanser.

@@alexandrap9019 Okay, are you aware that The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner is an exfoliant? How often do you use that one? Do you apply your HA or Snail Essence to damp or dry skin? I wouldn't layer too many treatments in one routine, as this can often lead to sensitivities and irritations sooner or later.
she is a gem,,,,,
🥰
im planning to integrate this into my routine. But im not sure how to add it in my AM/PM routine. here are my products:
1. Squalande cleanser
2. Niacinamide
3. Plant Derived Squalande
4. Natural Moisturising Factors + HA
Can I add the Glycolic acid after the cleanser for both AM and PM routine? or just PM is fine? what can you suggest? Thank you :)
Hmm, using it daily might be too much. I would start with using it every other day first to see how that goes. So, use it Monday evening, take a pause on Tuesday, then use it again Wednesday evening, etc.
Squalane Cleanser
Glycolic Acid (wait a couple of minutes for pH balance)
Niacinamide
Plant-Derived Squalane
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Hi Melissa,
Can you suggest if below routine is ok? I have dry, harmonal acne and pores..
AM:-
1. Citaphyl cleanser
2. Ordinary Hycrolonic acid+B5
3. Ordinary Buffet
4. Ordinary moisturizer
5. SPF
PM:-
1. Cetaphyl cleanser
2. Ordinary Glycolic acid toner
3. Ordinary Nicinamide + zinc
4. Ordinary Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%
5. CeraVe hydrating moisturizer
The Ordinary recommends not using Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) with Niacinamide. And you should also not use Buffet with Ascorbic Acid. Therefore you need to keep them separate and create another am or pm routine :)

Hi, i've been watching all your vids. Its fun yo watch and lots of info about the ordinary.
I would like to know if you can suggest how to get rid mini bumps on the face,, it's the problem i want to address will niacinamide and aha + bha from ordinary can resolve it?
Hope for your response. Super thanks
What is your skin type and do you have sensitive skin?😊
You can use the peeling solution for it, however, I'm thinking of Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, etc...which you may be able to use more than just once a week😊

You can use them in the same routine. How often you can use Glycolic Acid depends on your personal skin tolerance. I recommend starting with 2-3 times a week in your evening skincare routine. For more information, watch the following video:

Hi! I just found your wonderful channel. I’m new to The Ordinary products and wondering if I can structure and combine these products:
✨
~ Cleanser
~ Face scrub
~ Glycolic acid 7% Toning solution
~ Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
~ 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Borage Seed Oil
~ Moisturizing

Hey :)
I don't think that you need to use a face scrub when using Glycolic Acid since Glycolic Acid does exfoliate the skin as well! :)
The rest of your routine looks great! :)
Hello! Thank you so much for your videos! I just purchased the glycolic acid toner but I wanted to know if I use this along with the AHA peel? Or how do I switch in between?? 🤔

Hello! Good day! I just wanted to ask a question. Is it okay to add in this regimen an azelaic acid suspension for the last step? Thanks! If you answered it would be so much great help! 🥺💕
Do you mean the 10% from the Ordinary? If so, yes. But I would be cautious when adding 15 or even 20% suspensions/creams that may irritate the skin! :)
Hi - I’ve just ordered the Toner and some more of the niacinimide. Could I use the toner, the niacinimide and then hylauronic acid instead of the Alpha? I’ve also bought the squalane oil. Is there a way to incorporate that into this regime too?? Thanks 😊 I absolutely love your videos xxx
Hello 😀 Yes, you can add the Squalane oil as the last step. (Depending on your skin type) Just try it and see what works best. If it feels too oily just stay with the other 3 products.

You can use the Azelaic Acid after the Niacinamide in the morning ( There is no need to apply it twice a day it will have the same effect)
Regarding the Salicylic Acid masque, you can use it once a week in the evening.
Hahahaha 😆 Thank you so much ❤️😊
To start with I love ur videos so helpful...Can I add hyaluronic acid 2%+B5 to this routine??
Thank you! Yes, you can😊
Hi Mellisa, I'm a new fan.I don't know if niacinamide serum can be used together with glycolic toner.I'm quite confused with what internet says it's not good to use glycolic and niacinamide as it reduce the effects of both products?
Hey! :)
You can use Niacinamide after Glycolic Acid. You can layer one after the other, but do not mix them together.
See here:

Hi melissa can i use together alpha arbutin hylaronic acid lactic acid and retinoid same routine
Hey:)
Are all of these products from The Ordinary? If so, which lactic acid and retinoid are you using? If you are combining lower-strength products, it may work. However, for higher-strength products, I suggest not using lactic acid and retinoid together.
Okey thanks can i use same routine alpha arbutin niaciname retinoid and hylaronic acid
@@Simaarts-7 yes, you can do that :)
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet than you so much
Hi! Currently my routine is
CeraVe foaming cleanser
Alpha Arbutin
Niacinamide
Elf Happy Hydration moisturizer
I want to add in the Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid, and I was wondering if I should include it before my Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide, or after? This will be my first time using a chemical exfoliant, and I have no idea where to include it in my routine.
Use Azelaic Acid after your moisturiser step or skip the moisturiser and replace it as your 'moisturiser' step :) This depends on your skin an what feels the best :)
Melissa Van Dijk Thank you!
