The Best Entry Level Trail Bike? A Long Term Review of the YT Jeffsy 29 Comp.

- My 2018 YT Jeffsy is my first full suspension mountain bike and I think it's the best entry level trail bike that can easily be a forever bike.
The folks over at YT designed a beautiful machine. Not quite full trail, and not quite full enduro. This bike can easily be spec'd for all types of riders. With that being said, if you're new to the MTB world and looking to up your game and buy you're first full suspension, the YT Jeffsy provides a compelling price to performance ratio. Oh, and after 2 years of hard riding, everything is still stock and the only things that have required replacing are the pads and the dropper post (more on that later).
Not only do you get quality stock components, but you get a frame design that can easily be fit for either big epic trail bike rides, and fast enduro style descents. Given the versatility of this bike, I'll go so far as to say this is the best trail bike you can buy.
So why am I considering moving on? Simply I was between frame sizes and I might have sized a little too small. If YT sold just frames in the US, I would easily be buying another Jeffsy hands down.
Definitely love my Jeffsy! Very capable bike and a great value.
It’s still a really compelling buy even now that I’m exploring new bikes. I really wish YT would sell just frames here in the US.
I just ordered this a few weeks ago after I got an email notification of the core2 jeffsy in stock. It says ships latest May 16. I was a little late ordering but at least I have one coming to me because a few minutes after I purchased, it was sold out in my size. I’m super excited about this and thank you for the video. I can’t afford two bikes but I just wanted to make sure I bought one that can do it all. Like a Swiss Army knife.
Congrats on the new bike day!!
I think you definitely made the right call especially with the newer Jeffsy geometry. It’s great you were able to get an order in, supply issues don’t seem to be going away…
@@LifeFromtheLoam thank you for the reply! looking forward to more videos! keep up the great work.
I loved my old yt
solid review, love seeing your channel grow! Also have you ever ridden in the swallow cliff stairs area?
Thanks! Trying something new to see how people enjoy it so thanks for the comment!
I have only ridden the multitrack around swallow cliff, my understanding is that all of the single track on that side of palos is restricted to bikes. I have hiked a lot of those trails and it would be awesome to have them open to MTB!
Nice recap. Did I see an Andres drop in there??!!
Yup! There’s more to come on that in another video!
i am commenting a month late, but i too ride a 29er jeffsy. it can do anything from the a 30 mile gravel trail to biking down a downhill trail in Oregon. i go to Andres and Palos and if ya haven't caught on yet I'm just river but on my actual email account. but yea. for the amount the bike costs its amazing
It really is one of the best all around bikes! Ton of upgrade paths and types of riding you can do with them!
Amazing b-roll. Do you have any breaksets or rear shocks that you are looking at in particular?
Thanks! Looking at some coil rears and maybe moving over to shimano breaks.
Nice Review!
What bike park is the footage from?
Mar Stan Some is from Andres Bike Park in Carpentersville and the last bit is from Little Switzerland up in Wisconsin!
Hi would this bike b good for someone who wants tado a few miles on in the week and then go to bike parks?
That's what I use it for!
Only place this bike felt underbiked was at a really big mountain bike park. Other than that I've felt super comfortable tackling anything I've come across.
Best bike it the one you have!
@@LifeFromtheLoam I only ride the blue and red trails at bike parks, so this bike seems enough bike for me. Thanx for the reply and great info 👍
