  • Debby wants her shot at running the homemade sawmill and makes a couple of 2x4's for a sawbuck project. As we start slabbing logs into cants, the live side slabs are piling up. We can use the slabs for various things and even the worse shaped wood will work for the wood pile for firewood. But, chasing this stuff around on the ground with a chainsaw is no fun, risks dull chains and is just plain dangerous. A sawbuck makes sawing lengths of slabs, limbs and logs a much easier task. An easy project and fun to make!
The chainsaw length marking tool was made in this video: • #35 Chainsaw File and ...
The bottom angle on the sawbuck legs is 30 degrees. Legs and crossbars are all 48" long. Pivot holes are 18" from top of legs and centered on width. Crossbars are about 19-1/8" from the top of the leg to top of crossbar. Used 1/2" bolts 1" longer than the thickness of two legs (5'" for our full 2" lumber".
