Just purchased the blue on a bracelet from Shopworn for $325 after code. Insane deal. 👍

I've noticed many of these reviews for this watch make a point about the lack of a second hand. On the intramatic it lacks the minute indices as well. But as another commentator here mentions, it's a Dress Watch. The most desirable of the Cartier Dress watch range , The Must de Tank does not have a second hand. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say " lovely watch, must have it, oh wait, there's no second hand". Myself ,I see where people are coming from when they say " without the second hand, the Watch doesn't seem to be alive". Ignoring the obvious, I do get what they mean, but this watch is meant , for an example, to be glanced at after the serving staff at a function have taken away the empty plates from the first course and your take an impatient glance at your watch as you wonder how long to wait till the Main Course comes along. Obviously it has other uses which each owner will discover for themselves.

The weird part isn't that it lacks a second hand (common for dress watches), but that it lacks one while including a higher complication than that (a date) and while having hacking seconds. It's a matter of the movement involved but they could have chosen e.g., a ghost date for a pure dress watch. Still a lovely watch regardless, just interesting decisions from the designers in my opinion :-D

You can take me as the First Person who says: what a nice watch, but without a second Hand i am not gonna buy it

But importantly you know it's an automatic with an excellent movement that gives me comfort in buying it. Especially as a watch enthusiast. It's also excellently priced with a lot to offer and not a whole pile more than a quartz. So even with a lack of a second hand it's still a winner for me. Obviously if I had a preference I would prefer seconds hand but certainly not a deal paper when weighing up everything it has to offer.

Thanks for the review. I've just purchased one of these thinline Jazzmasters with bronze dial and brown strap and it's very classy. I also have the Khaki King with stainless bracelet. Love Hamilton watches.

I just purchased the burgundy one. A gorgeous dial. Simplicity and elegance exemplified. While I would have preferred a seconds hand, I don't consider its absence a flaw. It would have been better to omit the lume altogether or go all the way. Hamilton's half-measures here are a little puzzling, though by no means irritating. You could still tell the time roughly in the dark. (I'm wondering whether the lack of lume on the indices is Hamilton's way of being playful and eccentric, teasing our imagination.) Assuming I receive a functional, accurate watch, it's nearly perfect in my book.

By the way, since you're not altogether satisfied with the strap, you may consider purchasing one from Hirsch. I'll probably do so. The company offers elegant ones, with buckles featuring an "H". Quite convenient.

@@yacovmitchenko1490 Good point. I was considering picking one up that had the same width and taper and re-using the factory hardware so that it still looked factory but had better leather :)

Anyone can tell the time in the dark. Indices are not necessary. On the timegraph, my watch is within COSC in terms of positional varience. I adjusted it so crown to the side is +2 seconds fast per day. The slow position is -1. The fast is +4. Not bad for a non COSC movement. My strap, btw, is wearing nicely and is very supple. A thicker strap would look weird compared to the very thin case.

It's not unusual for a dress watch to exclude the seconds hand.
If it didn't have the date and lume, which also should have been left out, and was a proper 38mm, I'd buy it.

Great review, Nick! Quick question, what is the lug width at the buckle? I Was thinking of getting this watch and adding a deployant clasp.

Incredibly beautiful dress watch, but I think it's a real shame that Hamilton decided to remove the smooth 4hz sweeping second hand just to shave off a couple millimeters. It would actually have been perfect if they kept it.

No seconds hand? Might as well have a quartz!

My strap is perfectly fine. Mine runs +5 seconds fast per day. People don't wear their watches while sleeping.

Affordable is relative in this case, relative to other similarly styled or spec'd watches. There certainly are cheaper watches :)
