Why is it always with race? How about two very handsome kind men not black men you make it sound like there are no good black men who love there wife’s and that is not true. We have to stop with defying someone based on the color of there skin. We are all souls in the end and we could have lived other lives before I could have beeen a black man so we are not our color and to be technical based on our ancestors we all are mixed in this world he is not just a black man etc we all are mixed some have better tans then others.

To the people that are put out when individuals make reference to race.
It's not that it's about race, we just wonna love up on our black men and give them the huge props they deserve for digging deep and sharing their love walk. Please don't hate when we make reference to our black men. Some women just want to celebrate them.......and we are liberated to do so🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

I think based on the culture she was raised in, everyone in the partnership being financially stable is a must. This incident is what caused her to see you in a different light, based on what I saw in the show. Financial stability is important to her. She kept saying it in each interview she sat down for.

The experts got it wrong which is ok because he has so many lessons to make him an even more stellar than he already was. It's obvious that he is a "real good dude " one of the real ones. He needed to spotlighted to remind the world good men really do exsist.

So good to hear a man passionate about getting healing so he can present his best self to his wife.... I'm not sure if this theory is right, but I believe we meet a person that will break us so we can get healing we need in order to get God's blessings. The healing process is the bridge that takes us to the "one".
"You are worth all of this work." ... that's a great reminder. Sometimes the healing process seems endless and dreadful, but we gotta believe there's a great person on the other end of the bridge!

@Joyful n Blessed you're right. The healing process is painful and a lot of men tend to shy away from pain. Personally I think they might be afraid of the pain and maybe dealing with their short comings. I hope that men who need healing will understand that it's not shameful to seek help, it's actually a sign of strength.
You're right! A lot of women do themselves a disservice entertaining men who need healing, hoping that their love will heal the men. But these ladies end up being torn down at the end. It's really terrible.
I hope both men and women will seek healing so we can treat each other better.
I think a lot of relationships can bring healing, but I think that happens during the friendship stage.

Very similar. November 12 was a pivot in my life. On that day I chose to leave my home church, my daddy pastored, my family was there, I was involved in ministry but had to leave it all behind because I found out a man that I loved who decided to marry someone else wife was pregnant. There's a back story to that too. I was going through a traumatic heartbreak, backstory too. It began July 2013 until November 12. November 12th is a my birthday. The only time I though I could have some joy was caboshed. Since then I made efforts to reframe that date. I can relate, brother.

Him and his mother having such a great relationship makes him love a woman and treat her good because the way a black man treat his mother as a Queen he will do the same to any woman who he invites into his life. I wish Gil all the best be strong and let go and Let God. One brother talking to a next brother shows how transparent and authentic you guys are. Patience is a virtue and I respect Gil for all the patience he had during the whole process. Good he’s taking the time to heal first before he move forward again. Great Job guys well done.

Amazing prayers in Spanish and English. I watched very few episodes of mafs. Gil definitely stood out and I could see the disconnect between Gil and his ex wife. I'm sorry you went thru that. You seem grounded, humble and the right one will see you for who you truly are. I pray you heal. You will make your next counterpart happy and i hope she makes you just as happy 🙏 🙌🏽💫 Refreshing discussion. Gives me hope that there are men out there wanting to intentionally invest in a commitment.

I could tell this young man was genuine when I watched the episodes of MAF. And to recognize and accept and intentionally take the time to work on personal healing is so good to both hear and see when it comes today men.

I absolutely love this conversation. As a Latina I see it so often in the Latino community where counseling is a taboo and most will not think twice to say no to therapy because they "don't need it". I myself have gone through therapy for childhood and relationship trauma to help me heal. I raised my children mainly without their dad (single mom). Their dad was there every now and then however not consistent with being there emotionally or physically when needed. He is trying to heal those relationships with my son and daughter now. I see my son not having that father figure there to guide him like you said and it pains me. I as a mom can do and show but so much. I am grateful that my son and daughter have become good adults with guidance from myself and my family to help give them advice. I have more podcast/youtube videos to listen to however I want to say thanks Laterras for bringing the content! #healfirst

First, I love you even more each episode Sir because MAFS is my favorite 🤗 Gil and Myrla were my favorite couple that season and I thought for sure they would make it. The more they discussed money, the more I got worried. So many gems in this episode but my takeaway was "preference is based on lust." And that's on period. Now I have to go find that episode 😂

It's Never Too Late as you say Gil, especially for someone who experienced a traumatic event such as death of a parent. Never too late to love, learn, get an education or a good job, save money, and start a family. This explains why so many men (and women too) don't have it all together by age 30.

Yes it HAS to be different this time. A big part of my healing is being transparent with men about my stance on abstaining until I'm married. Although being rejected may become the norm of revealing this, I'm at peace with the spiritual growth I'm making. DFW and brave and transparent guest such as this are aiding in the process and I have to keep trusting that God will direct me to my God- ordained husband(King) and he'll identify me as the Jewel in His Crown 👑 It's not easy but I'm sure it'll be worth it 🙌🏾 #healing #theirloss

I like how you didn’t hold GIL accountability about the financial issues the ex wife kept bringing up. You didn’t ask him why he lied about savings. You didn’t ask about her constantly having to BEG for his share of the rent money while she paid double rent. I actually saw the receipts and text messages on another show. They were not financially compatible. That’s what YOU fail to acknowledge. YOU allowed a grown man to look like a victim. Accountability.
