Well. Had a bull guard on my Nissan Armada couple years ago. I slid while doing a left turn, tried to do a small drift but TC messed me up so i end up hitting the guard rail on the right, the bull guard saved my front end. :D all I had to do was loosen the bolts to re-align it back to normal.

Really they should just be called bump guard.
In terms of strength from weakest to strongest:
      1) brush guard (mostly decoration)
      2) bull (bump) guard. (In video)
      3) push guard (in video)
      4) ram guard.
A steel bull guard can protect against hitting animals, or “bumping” other cars/objects. Not gonna save you in a 40+mph wreck, or allow you to ram/push cars lol.

Well, here in Mexico we have them to use them as RamBars. It is a safety issue for us dealing with drug cartels daily. Generally, the best I've seel is to have custom made brackets on the bottom, middle and top of the push bar to make it really sturdy not just to take most of the hit, but to actually take it all like a champion. Yes, It will get sort of damaged, but it will allow you to hit a car, move it out of the way and keep going without significant damage to your vehicle, your radiator or any parts that could prevent you from keep going on. It also helps when you actually install an offroad steel bumper with that bull guard on top ankered to the chasis in a higher place like the radiator top bracing.

@@---tx9xx I've only seen Iron Bullbumpers tested that way and they seem like the real deal. Now, they are expensive for my pocket and I would have to take my van to them so that they can make me one cuz they don make any for the chevy express van. But they might have one for your truck.
The other way is the way I'm doing it... build one out of 1/4" square tubing and 3/16" steel plate. I'm making a frame out of the tubing and the "body out of the plate. Im gonna bolt it directly to the frame of the van with 1/2" diameter bolts and making sure the frame is stabilized by the bumper itself so it doesn't move in case of collision.
I learned that modern frames use accelerometers and other sensors to decide if the airbags have to go off, but if the frame doesn't shift, It is less likely to set them off and seize the vehicle.

That bull bar looks weak and wobbily.. the one i got slides into the frame and mounts in 2 places, below the bumper to frame rails and in the middle of the bumper that goes to the frame rails with 2 tubes that run beside the radiator.. i can lift my truck with the bull bar i got.. also slid down a hill into a tree at like 20 and didnt do much of anything besides chip the paint on the 4" x1/4" wall tubes.. looks home made but dunno.. welds are good looking but instead of having some bracket like i said they go from the round tube to a rectangle that slides inside the frame rails about a foot then through bolts with 2 beefy bolts on bottom and top part sits where the cross member or frame rails connect to eachother by the shock towers.. so they rest against that middle rail .. best design ive seen for something like a bull bar..

Here in the U.S., it wouldn’t make a difference to a pedestrian whether a truck had a bull gaurd or not, the truck would do the same damage either way (metal bumpers). Because of this fact, many people here mostly seem to use bull gaurds to minimize damage to their trucks when hitting deer (deer have decome a pest in many parts of this country due to our overly strict hunting laws). I have a truck and I want a push bumper so when I'm running from the Police I can push substantial obstacles and other cars and road debris out of the way, all while looking cool for the TH-cam video, man! I feel a Brush Guard just wouldn't have the strength to demolish roadblocks and would lead to my untimely and unrighteous capture. Then stupid channels would criticize my front bumper choice and related life decisions and contribute to my demise, and a movie inspired on my story would not be made. But being the bad boy, I would still have women writing in to me in prison - women w/ more tattoos than you ever will.
    - I changed my mind on the whole bumper thing. Shipping costs are high, which reminds me. I'm gonna spend the money on some (medical) marijuana, and drive my truck responsibly, not running over anyone I can go around, (yes, even if they are law enforcement.)

These cause injury's, read on to questions people have asked
I don't have time to respond to everybody
And this will probably get taken down or ghosted anyway
But at least I made a effort
Airbags are controlled by accelerometers that are placed in different parts of the front end of the vehicle, depends on make and model, all different
Mercedes is in the motor I believe? one of them is
My point being, Bull-bars have no impact on airbags at all
But they do interfere with crumple zones
This question came up a lot at work, our shop installed a ton of them, not me personally, I'm the service manager
But our boss is East Indian and we quit installing them for safety reasons
He said it would be a matter of time before they are banned here, and feels sick because of all the injury's these could have caused
They are banned in India and different parts of the world, you can easily look this up to fact check what I am typing is true, I did a long time ago, and how airbags work, and sensor location?
I don't have time to, I got to get to work
Hyperlinks can't be added here anyway, or this reply gets automatically deleted
The reasons for the ban are: Bull-bars make crumple zones ineffective by transmitting crash energy directly to the body structure, thus causing injuries and death to the occupants.
