Think he deserves more of a chance before being written off. He also didn’t have Kittle who missed the first 2 games of the season and CMC who was playing for the Panthers at the time.

Dak is a top of the line game manager. He can’t elevate a mediocre team, but he can win with a great team. The problem is, Dak and the cowboys coaches don’t realize he’s a game manager. He’s maybe QB 12, which is great, but he plays like he thinks he’s a top 5/top 10 guy. Jimmy G understands he’s a game manager, and more importantly, so does the coaching staff. 49ers make sure Jimmy does his job well without getting in his own way, but the Cowboys and Dak seem to throw him out there and let him do his thing. This actually holds him back, because if you aren’t elite, you can’t consistently win playing out of structure

Yeah its a great career so far. He's reached the NFC Championship game twice wining one. One throw away from winning the Superbowl. He has an over 70% career winning % and is in the top 5 all time QB ratings. Not bad and he'll b e in the playoffs again this year.

No one is pointing out the fact that the 49ers are healthy for once. the 49ers and Jimmy are better cause he's got a healthy squad and finally the O-line is showing up and giving him time to go through his progression.
Nailed it. Jimmy's healthy + the O-line is providing decent pass pro. We haven't had that combination in.... have we EVER had that combination? Plus they've added even more big weapons and so when they double-cover one player others are more open than before.
Niners defense is not healthy. They’ve had multiple injuries including the biggest of Emmanuel mosely
They’re not even healthy they’re still missing both starting interior DTs (Armstead & Kinlaw) plus their starting CB Mosley as well as their starting QB Lance.
@@Savsal12 They got back like 11 players for week 11. Mosley is done for season so he doesn't count. Injury report only had 2 players DNP and no one got hurt in week 11. That is a healthy team.

The 49ers have a dangerous offense. Their run game is stacked with talent. Jimmy G has to control the ball and not turn it over. That's what he has to do. Don't force the play, hold on to the ball, and get it to your teammates safely. I still have nightmares of Jimmy G running the ball and promptly sitting out for the season.

Great game for Jimmy G there's no denying, but a new contract year coming up tends to do that to players. He's much more mobile in the pocket that I've ever seen him and he seems to be playing with more fire than before, however he still rarely throws outside the numbers, or deep, so he's still limited. But this is his team no doubt even though I'm still uncertain when he gets his money next year that he won't revert to his bad habits from before. Well, that's next year's problem so I'm going to continue to enjoy this season as we head into December. Go Niners!!
If he's a free agent next year should go to the buccaneers if Brady retires....
You should know by now that he throws short and inside the numbers because that's the plays that Kyle calls. Kyle believes in a short pass - high YAC offense. That's Kyle's passing strategy. He sticks to it because it works. Every once in a while he lets Jimmy throw long, but generally he prefers to keep Jimmy's arm fresh and accurate for the 4th quarter. Jimmy's already implied and suggested in interviews that he'd prefer to let loose and throw long more often. But that's still mostly Kyle's call, not Jimmy's.

You know this is the only show I've ever even considered watching that covers the whole NFL (or at least, select topics regarding any team in the NFL) as opposed to just watching for content that fits my watching needs (i.e. my favorite team, my favorite players, etc)

@@princecheck11 As a starter on a per game basis Gardner Minshew is 240 Passing yards 1.6-0.5 Touchdowns to interceptions on 63% completions and a passer rating of 93 and he did that with a awful Jaguars team. That is an identical Stat line to Baker Mayfield prior to his last season with the Browns (Which really hurt his career stats) with a far inferior supporting cast and half the interceptions. That is better than half of the quarterbacks in the league

I think there’s an underrated upside to having a cheaper game manager QB as opposed to these guys on mega deals. I mean sure, everyone would rather have Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes, but there’s only so many of those guys on the planet. So I think there’s something to be said for a cheaper option and using the extra cap on building a better roster.
What’s kinda annoying about the Jimmy talk is the narrative that they were dumping him because they didn’t think they can win games with him. They were ready to move on because of the four full seasons he’d been with the team he was injured the entire year essentially for 2/4. When they drafted Lance he had been injured 2/3 years. But the partial first season they won every game he played. The two full seasons he played they went to the SB and a conference championship. They’ve consistently won games when he’s been healthy.
The real issue is do you invest another large contract, which will likely have to contain a lot of guaranteed money, for a guy who is injured half the time and just had major shoulder surgery? I don’t think they’d have been moving on from him had he been healthy for those two seasons. He’s just too much of a risk to make a large investment for your future in. What’s happening this year is what has happened whenever he’s been healthy on their team.
So it shouldn’t be this major shock. They kept him because they weren’t going to get any good trades when everyone knew he’d get cut anyways to save a $26M cap hit. He stayed because the restructured deal was a lot better than anything he’d have gotten. And he’s probably going to make almost the maximum of the $16M potential. And then he will get an off-season coming off of playing well and being a free agent. I can’t see the Niners changing their mind to commit to him but I guess we also didn’t think they’d keep him there. I could see a team like Indy, Carolina or Seattle giving him a big deal to be their starter. It would surprise me to see the Niners reverse course after committing so much into the Lance experiment. But if they won a Super Bowl this season with Jimmy G? I could see them making that call. Anything less than that and I would be amazed for it to happen.
