These are great! Set up a double hook rig on the fly and pull a full smelt. Great laker setup behind a big paddle deep!

Cool. I like the concept of being able to tweak it and set the teasers where I want. If I had watch this before today, I wouldn't have had to ask on Facebook last night. Lol

I've had success with teaser rigs on 8" spin doctors on deep coppers and low divers.

How about putting a small dot of clear silicone on the bead after it's pinned with a toothpick? I'm definitely going to tie up a couple with the flies I just bought from you. And I got some addya no bite off hooks too.

There are a few ways to do it I like the toothpicks myself

Don’t need to the toothpicks are wood and swell in the water even holding tighter in place

Hello Russell, I've been studying tying what's commonly called a "tournament" fly leader. In every case I've seen the two hooks are arranged such that the treble hook is trailing the single hook. I'm new to salmon trolling so I don't have any experience to back up my thought but tying the treble hook trailing the single hook seems counterintuitive to me. My gut says the single hook (with its wider gap) would be more effective if it's behind the treble hook, thereby getting deeper in the fish's mouth. Can you enlighten me as to why it's better to have the treble hook trailing? Love your videos and your products.

I can’t speak as intelligently as some on this subject as I have only used them for a year and wasn’t a fan. The reason being is in most circumstances one of the two hooks gets the fish on the outside of the mouth in the side of the face. This makes this very difficult to reel in the fish as they come in spinning in a circular motion and if they are large put tremendous pressure on your gear

@@RussellsFishingTech Thanks Russell! On a charter trip I attempted to retrieve a big king so hooked. Darn near spooled the downrigger rod to the point where I had to thumb the spool 'till either line could be retrieved or the hooks pulled . After a long battle the hooks pulled. It was bad for me and the magnificent fish.

I want to try this rig but I have a feeling that my 8” flashers aren’t going to cut it. Seems like too long a leader for the smaller flashers to be able to give much action to that many flies. Am I wrong?

Some people put the red tie of the fly in front and others say flip the fly upside down and put the tied end inside. Do you have any input or preference how you string the flies?
Enjoy the videos and information. Learned a lot this season. I wish TH-cam was around years ago.
One last thing. How come no one uses dodger squid anymore? They used to be the hot setup and I can’t see the rig not working anymore? I stopped using them because they caught more coho and wanted to target big kings with the limited lines I could put out.
    Thank you

The black shrink should be down
Squids still work but flies tend to out prodcue theM

@@RussellsFishingTech so the teasers have the tied end forward but the end fly faces down? Thank you

Been tying my own, (with more teaser spacing) for 15 yrs

instead of toothpicks I'm using the rubber line stops like we use for Carolina/Texas rigs to stop the weights

    • @muskymike12

@rosvenor2170 I would recommend using a sliding nail knot with heavy Dacron (e.g. 60-80 pound) or fly line backing (30 lb). Will not damage leader and way more efficient. I use that system with mine specifically. Leaders will have tremendous life history compared to toothpicks. Teaser flies have never collapsed into each other with this system.

At 54 inches I can't imagine there's much action on the flies. Is that what you're going for?

Hey Russ! Does it matter/make a difference what type of presentation you would run this with? Wire Dipsy vs deep rigger vs boards. Thanks! Look forward to meeting you in Superior!
