Thank you for posting this. I recently purchased a LV item from a reseller. The canvas feels a little rubbery and I was starting to doubt the bag's authenticity. I then remembered you posted this and with your help, I found the chip on the bag. It makes me feel so much better. Now if only I can figure out why my canvas feels different from other bags I have, like it has a coating or something. :). Thanks.
@emy0514 if you will compare new LV canvas to vintage ones. Yes, the new canvas feels a little rubbery. I noticed with mine 😞 In addition, vintage seems to have better quality when it comes to hardware and glazing.
Thank you for this extremely useful video Steph! I believe Chanel also now microchip their bags which had made me very nervous about buying anything pre-loved. Now, thanks to you, I know what to do. 😊
It worked! I tested it on my Alma BB that I bought in store first. Then I did it with my Vavin PM that I bought on Rebag and it came up! Thank you for sharing this 😊
THANK YOU! I just downloaded and tested it and it works! It worked on my Boétie pm and my Clemence wallet. It didn’t work on the largest of my Pochette Kirigami, I will try it again though.
I always Use the NFC tools for buying preloved bags and some of LV bags have microchipped & date code on the year 2019 up and also when you scan it again the serial code will change.
Correct chips can be faked also so they aren’t a good way to authenticate a piece. LV won’t authenticate a bag but yes they may agree to scan the chip - they will definitely scan if you take it in for some work to be done on the piece
I bought a Louis Vuitton bag from them. So I will try the app on my bag. I’m just curious. My husband also bought me a used ratty looking suitcase. That is a Louis Vuitton. It needs work done to get it fixed. So I’m going to check it also. To make sure I can get it fixed. Thank you for this information.
4:37 You revealed the serial number. I found an LV at a recycling plant that was close to perfect. Put the code in your code checker and it was made in the 10th week 2088...lol
Not sure if it is a work around to get the bag in for repair to know if it is authentic. You see, i am afraid they would do like Hermes would, which is to not be able to give you the bag back again should they deem the bag not authentic.
I don't know what took LV so long to embed rfid chips. The thin film rfid chips have been around for over 15 years. I can't remember which companies I suggested this to. I would have imagined the information embedded would have been some form of ownership history kept in the LV database. Not sure how this would be updated though. If not this will only slow down counterfeiters.
Hi, I’ve just purchased Vavin PM Damier from a legit reseller website, and the bag has no date code, so I follow your advice on downloading the NFC tools, and it works! It shows the date code from the back of the bag just like yours, I save the code, but when I tried to retake again it gave me different code number, do you have any idea why? I’m a bit confuse and concern. Thank you
Steph your profile picture looks so so pretty and my sister also loves your profile picture so so much you are my inspiration and I wish you have a wonderful day always 🤗💫💗🌸
I took my Alma bb that had a microchip to the boutique and they scanned for me and gave me the date code. My sales associate had order the bag for me online so it was send to my house that’s why I never had the day code before if you order online you can always bring the item back and o the store and they will scanned and give you all the information you need.

Just as an FYI, you can’t have a bag repaired in LV if it was not bought in their boutiques and under your account. This is what the SA told me recently, a couple of weeks ago, when I bought a bag from there.
@@personalme2717 I’m just relaying what I’ve been told and this was just a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps it’s country-specific (although I don’t know why this would be the case) since my SA in the US didn’t tell me about their repair policy. And my most recent bag was bought in Asia.
Hi, I live in the US and recently had a bag repaired by LV that I bought from Rebag. I did the whole thing via the app. So maybe it's best just to avoid SA's and initiate the request with the repair service directly. Hope this helps.
anybody can put an rfid tag inside the bag. . the tag is useless without it being tied to a database. does LV have a database you can cross check? also beware rfid tags can be cloned. so they can just clone a legit one in the database and put it in all the copy bags.
Yes I mention that this is not a way to authenticate a bag, it's just how to scan them. If you take the bag into LV I think they can see it on the database, they use this info for repairs.

My guess is the fake one remains the same. Maybe 🤔
