    I am so excited!!! I am in my livingroom jumping around. I feel like I am on Antique's Roadshow. I bought my Louis from a vintage store a few years ago for next to nothing and am now realizing it is actually real! I went through all the steps you talked about in your video and my bag is real. You made my day : )

    The Speedy's made in the 80's for a few years by The French Company had a bottom seam and a strip of leather which made both sides of the Speedy had right-side up LV's. They were not fake. This happened due to a labor dispute at LV in Paris. I have the large one and not only did the Speedy's have the leather strip, the cosmetic bags had nylon zippers.

    The handles and leather trim looks soooo beautiful once it oxidizes. So pretty and rich looking.

    Hi, yes LV handles when new are light cream, as time passes they naturally turn a tan colour. Enjoy your LV!

    I take very good care of my LV purses. I have not experienced any darkening or change of color and I bought mine straight from an LV store. Just saying in case people saw this and worried their bags were not authentic. They don't fade if you keep them in the dust bags and only use them on special occasions :)

    I understand your replica vs. authentic video is meant to help us buyers
    know fake from real, but you're also helping the thieves make better
    fakes, by pointing out what's wrong and what's right. This video has
    probably helped make some excellent fakes with all the "authentic"
    looking areas. All those thieves love videos like this.

    Hi VI means it was made in France. Assuming that it is an 80s bag the format is YYMM so 8912 is: Year 89 Month: December. We have further information on our blog. You can find the link on our website. All the best.

  • @Jagersmom
    @Jagersmom 12 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Sorry, I'm not a bag person, but I have an LV speedy that my mom bought before I was born(1983) she can't remember exactly when and it doesn't have any tags in it at all. It has the oxidation, the faded leather & burgundy and the pattern, but I've seen videos that said it should have 5 stitches on the handle tags but this has 6. So I think I have a high quality very well crafted fake from the 70's or 80's lol. Thanks for your video I was just curious.

  • @VintageHeirloomUK
    @VintageHeirloomUK  12 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    @danieldisco The cost of producing an exact copy is really the issue. Replicas cut corners, use cheaper materials and production techniques which explains why they can sell at such a low cost. Anyone attempting to copy an original product would simply buy the real product and analyse it anyway. Hope that helps.

    I don't see the point of buying a fake one do you want quality over quantity the fake one is just going to break invest in something that's going to last yes it might be pricey but it's worth it

    The only leather parts of this speedy and similar products like the never full and keep all are the handles and trim. The rest of the bag covered in the monogram pattern is made of a canvas material. So in essence there is only a minimal amount of leather on these bag which reflects their relative price compared to a a full leather handbag, bag, wallet etc. Just wanting to make it known because when I found out I was less than impressed and disappointed to say the least!!
    Great video though!

    When you said "its one continuous piece of leather" for the wrap around method... you're are wrong, the only leather on the bag are the handles and pull tabs. The Brown material that has all the LVs on it is actually a chemical coated over the canvas. It is deep fried on to the canvas. I know this because i have two friends who work at Louis Vuitton.

  • @VintageHeirloomUK
    @VintageHeirloomUK  12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good question. From experience it always comes down to cost.
    People who make fakes always cut corners, use inferior materials. Profit margins are as much of a concern for forgers as they are for a company like LV, you either go for cheap and cheerful or expensive and quality... Personally I like to save for something well made and that will last...
