Well done Sir, i like the simple fact that you keep it as close to OE as you possibly can. Very nice and super detailed. For some DIYers you certainly remove the fear or hesitation of hacking into a newer platform car, very very helpful!
Awesome video. Videos like this are a great tool for those wanting some OEM + add ons. Imagine having to read through all this in a forum with limited pictures! You can really tell how much time and effort was put into this based on the camera angles and lighting. Hopefully will make wiring less scary to those afraid of electrical work.

@10:50 you suggested to place the cap back in place at the end after everything has been tested. I'll share my experience here: I was working on a door latch module and got it replaced, wiring harness hooked back up, internal body panel and window regulator were reinstalled -- i got to the cap only to find out that the screw and "rotating" clip that holds it place were dislodged and were in the door cavity. I took it all apart again and repositioned the two parts... fixed. Reassembled again. I'll forever reinstall the cap first, after the handle cable is back in place :)
This was great. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to wiring and nothing throws me off better than sloppy wiring and connections. This was a pleaaure to watch. Very satisfying.

Great video Charles., can you please confirm the pins on the controller module ? The one you showed is - Pins 4, 13, 25 (Ant, Sensor, Ant)., and this is for Rear Right door I guess., what are the pins for the Left Rear Door ? I am looking to do this on my MK7 Golf., which has a older KESSY module - 5Q0 959 435 B, not 3Q0 like yours. Any chance I can get a wiring diagram on this ? Like you said, none of the Golf Variants using this controller has a rear connection., However the VCDS Long coding for the controller has the rear doors listed., enabling it will give a Sensor Error on the VCDS Error Logs. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thank you for another awesome video Charles! Our Mk I Touareg was doing the dreaded battery drain with KESSY antenna faults. Would love for some Toureg TDI videos , if you still have it. Thought there would be more. The Toureg TDI are getting popular lately on TH-cam since they are the last TDIs VW is selling back.
Golf 2018 Variant (Estaste) , where is the Kessy module located, in the right side there is a fan motor, no Kessy module. What are the part number of the plug to the handle? What are the type number / name of the wire connectors; male and female? In OBDeleven unit B7 you have the same options as in VCDS, so you should be able to install Kessy on the rear doors in this Estate.
Wouldn't it have been a good idea to place the pin in the connectors the same way as they are in models that have the feature from factory, so that later on, when you have to come back to this connector you won't have to remember your custom pin arrangement?
If you’re talking about the B pillar, that would be ideal. But the connector on the Atlas is a bigger connector. There are no golds in the world that come with rear door kessy so there isn’t a pin location specified. The pins the atlas used are not empty or there on the Golf

Would you happen too know where the drivers door keyless entry antenna is, I'm getting a keyless entry fault. And when i scan it its saying drivers door antenna short to ground. Thanks pal.
What are your thoughts on using the front door bowden cable/harness assy. when doing this mod? Looks like the cable has the four wires from the handle to the front plug junction & given the cost of materials to build the harness, the $60 list price (left side) gets pretty close to breaking even. Just a matter of swapping out the bowden itself and adding your rear door unit.
More or less. Just ordered the bowden cable (5G4837085C) in for a customer & it’s got a harness tied in along the drive portion that has the correct plug for the handle on one end and terminates in a square four-pin plug at the other. Looks like that one takes the earlier-style terminals but if the correct ones for the door plug could be sourced... Just a matter of separating the harness from the bowden cable & grafting it onto your existing one.
Can you please say "oh wow that's cool" anytime you have to remove the floor trim and find the custom heat shrink? It will definitely add to the content!
Hi, I bought a vw golf 8, 2020 year, without keyless system, it’s is possible to install it now? I asked a local dealer, tell me that will cost half of the car to install that option :)
Hey, The video is amazing great job ! But i have 1 question , where do you find wiring diagrams ? by googling it i only find diagrams for old vw's like under 2010s
Very good Job dear..... Problem is this work is possible from model 2019 only. I checked for my GTD 2016, kessy unit is different and I didn't find pinout for rear doors :-(
I think solved..... 1. Install 3Q0 unit 2. I'm making plug&play adapter from T32 plug kessy unit (5Q0 mine) to T40 plug kessy unit (3Q0 upgrade) 3. plug rear handles wires to 3Q0 unit 4. Adaptation immobilizer and keys by ODIS online; 5. Coding unit by VCDS 6. It will works fine :-)

I have a question for you since I am seeing that you know a lot and also knows about Kessy. I have a VW Jetta mk6 and I am planning to do a retrofit of the Kessy system. I bought both front handles, kessy module, antennas and wiring from AliExpress (which is pretty close oem quality) but I am not sure if I am missing something apart from the vcds config what else do I need? Probably new steering wheel module? Any help will really appreciate it. Thanks sir again you are super clear when you explain and also you are amazing. Best regards
That looked like fun. ;) You made it look easier than it surely is. I removed my front passenger seat and later reinstalled, but the airbag warning light won't go off. How do I go about fixing that?
Great content dude I need help and or tutorial on 04 Jetta driver seat not working electrically no fore or aft movement , tilt or up down seat heat work and passenger works perfectly, was able check and make sure had power to the connection points in the trough under seat read connection even tried to power directly to seat motors still no worky pulled one motor completely and used a drill on the spiral shaft to move seat back to a permanent position, but of course that offset tracks somewhat. Also would like to add seat heaters to my 93 corrado Slc can you recommend parts and wiring keep up great work and content
Soldering and heatshrinking is defenitely the best way to join wires. I live in Finland and corrosion is bit of problem here. With crimp connectors these is a change that the bare copper wire will corrode (green death) and the connection will start failing. Soldering eliminates this. I'm sure VW uses those buttconnecrors because they're so fast and relatively sturdy.
That squiggly stuff stuck to the inside of the door skin @ 10:44. I paused the video at this point and stared at this stuff for a while. And I imagined the robotic cake decorating machine as it went through its programmed maneuvers in the factory...I'm guessing strategically engineered applications of sound attenuating gel. Otherwise known as swirly goopy stuff.
Hey have a 2019 rabbit. I wanna send my seat belts out to get some with red strips on them. But I need them to drive. (well legally and with no beep) My question is? Are the Rear the same as the front? I I could send them out 1 set at a time? Hopefully you know the answer. I assume yes.
How do you remove the grab handles on mk7, no one has a video or pics ho to do it, had to remove my headliner , couldn’t remove grab handles, they were cheat on eBay used so I roped them out
Anyone know if this process would work on a 2018 Audi S3? Being a very similar platform I have to wonder. I'd love to add this to the back doors on my car.
Wow what a crazy and sensible mod, the question I have is....could they be a kit in the works for the future? I guess that would depend on the demand right....but well done man...great video on the install. 👏👏👌👌

+1 for soapy wooder!
that moment i dont care enough about my backseat passengers to do all this, but watching this is therapeutic
Not all golf Rs has the 40 pin kessy module, mine has 32pin , so we have to figure out where the 6 pin should go (3 from each handle ) ?????!!!!
I know vw says to repair via butt connector but soldering is way more appropriate
In the right application it’s good. But butt connections are a perfect way to do it.
Crimping is the way to go in mobile applications.
Hi, imazing job.
u already installed on the rear of a tiguan r-line mk2?
is similar ?
It should have it!
Seems like a great deal of work , I don't mind just using the font door, but very good video for the DIY.
Hey where in Finland do you live? I’ll be there in a few weeks!!!
@@HumbleMechanic Oh wow! I live kn the capital region (Helsinki). Why are you coming here and where will you be?
It could be another great tutorial if you make a video of tpms sensor retrofit wire harness and coding.
Swirly goopy hahah I did the exact same thing. I’d love to see it applied
2018 Europe facelift mk7.5, the kessy module is in different location and needs to be swapped with other one :)
Hey, where did you source the connectors and yellow wires?
SHOPDAP.com
I learned a lot. This will help me work on my 2008 A4.
Hey have a 2019 rabbit. I wanna send my seat belts out to get some with red strips on them. But I need them to drive. (well legally and with no beep)
My question is? Are the Rear the same as the front? I I could send them out 1 set at a time? Hopefully you know the answer. I assume yes.
Rear and front more often than not are different due to different distance between mounting points.
@@Swordie100 bummer
interesting to see that VW is not using classical cable color coding .. all wires are white with some dots
Can this be done on a MQB Tiguan? Also why was there wires from drivers side run to the passenger side?
Watch the other video
As long as the kessy module is the same it should work.
Wires from driver side are for the drivers rear door.
Thanks
How do you remove the grab handles on mk7, no one has a video or pics ho to do it, had to remove my headliner , couldn’t remove grab handles, they were cheat on eBay used so I roped them out
Try this Trick To Remove VW Headliner Clips th-cam.com/video/KKB4pY4e450/w-d-xo.html
Anyone know if this process would work on a 2018 Audi S3? Being a very similar platform I have to wonder. I'd love to add this to the back doors on my car.
In theory it should. I havent tested it
Whats that sensor connector called?
great video! will it work on the E-Golf?
I don’t see why not. As long as the kessy module is the right part number and software. I’ll dig that up and post it in the comments when I can
Got parts number for the connectors?
I like what you do. Good job man.and thanks for all informations.
Very cool add on
Charles, will this work on the 2017 R?
I think I've gotta go back a few seasons... didn't you have a mk3 cabrio project? o_0
I need some videos on that for my cabrio project... =p
Yes, very important, unlock to the rear door.
Wow what a crazy and sensible mod, the question I have is....could they be a kit in the works for the future? I guess that would depend on the demand right....but well done man...great video on the install. 👏👏👌👌
SHOPDAP and I are working on it. There is a fair amount that goes into getting this done as a diy kit
