No they have not I have had two replaced in a year. I love Ryobi I am so disappointed in the quality, the noise level is unacceptable and failure rate two in one year is bad. I just received the 2nd replacement I have left it in the box I am going to call Home Depot and see if they will let me return it.
I got one of the new ones last night, plastic snapped at the connector in first use. Hardly any pressure and due to the weight there is always going to be pressure. It is just flimsy plastic at the coupler. First Ryobi tool that I can say I am not at all impressed with. Returning today to home depot.
OK. I feel like you should do the best and worst at the same time. Also I feel you really pushed this one. 1. You didn't state the weight and didn't even compare it to vacuums like it. 2. With vacuums like this the rollers are almost always on. I've personally never seen them turn off. 3. Most people just want to use the high speed. Low would be for cleaning up a more dusty material on a smother surface like hard wood. 4. The filter clogs to keep the engine breathing. This particular system has a double air passing system to keep it alive. 5. Should have been part of 4 as itself still on the filter, but may be the 2nd point I can actually give you. But if there were a locking mechanism that's one more thing that may break later. I have had that happen with many other systems. Again, probably best to do worst and best in one segment or else you may turn potential buyers away. I didn't like this video but I didn't give it a thumbs down. If I would have to give my griefs on this vacuum it would be as follows. 1. Charge time. Slower than normal chargers but easily solved by battery switch. 2. Filters. Had to order directly from Ryobi so not available in stirs, but they aren't very wash reuse friendly. 3. Brush cleaning, it happens but would be better if it were a tool free job. 4. Accessories. Tools are good but the duster head could have been made longer so it doesn't bump against system when using. 5. Hanging pad. Short after this hit the market there is an ever ready pool vacation that chargers wirelessly. If ever the hanging part breaks we would likely have to replace the whole charger or vacuum unit or just pull batteries from a regular charger.
I have the 2020 version of this vacuum. This version comes with a separate switch so I can keep the brush on or off as needed. Also the filter does not clog on mine and the collection chamber has the debris. So Ryobi must have made design changes/improvements over the last 2 years. Maybe they saw your review. Oh, but one thing that hasn't changed is that when first turned on, it's still and hi speed then low speed before you can turn it off. But I don't care. Still a great product.
I've had the stickvac for almost a year now. It is our go to vacuum around the house. We really don't mind the weight, it's actually a plus for us. It keeps the vacuum steadily upright when standing it up. We've also learned to take the canister off so that the filter doesn't fall out. I'm definitely going to look in to the new filter design though. Thanks for the video, I understand you're trying to produce content but a pros/cons all in one video is the way to go imo. 👍
Uhh. I tried standing the thing and it's like trying to stand an alien with a small body and fat head. Feels like 1 poke and the whole thing collapses to the ground.
I just bought the newest version of this vacuum at Home Depot (6/15/20). Like many others, I experienced dirt that was picked up going right past the prefilter and clogging the inner filter assembly. Not just a little dirt, but all dirt. I took the filters out twice to clean them. The problem is that the filters weren't installed properly either when manufactured or by myself after cleaning them. I noticed that there are flat spots on the prefilter and filter assembly that need to be in alignment. Those flat spots must be inserted into the dust bowl, lining up with its own flat side. I pushed the filters in tightly, and now the prefilter is preventing the dirt to bypass it. If you see dirt accumulating on the inner filter assembly, stop vacuuming and make sure all is aligned properly. I also found that if the rotating brush stops because of an obstruction, I would not rotate again until I removed the battery and then reinserted it. This all sounds like a real pain(and it is), but I'll learn to live with it.
Thanks for this video. I didn’t realize I didn’t like mine until I was told not like it. Now what do I do? I have no mind of my own. (Spoken like a true sheep). I like mine. It’s. Perfect supplement to the Dyson. It’s not a whole house vacuum in my opinion, but more for quick clean ups in the garage, powdered soap in the laundry room, crumbs, etc.
This is only 3lbs heavier than my current cordless stick vacuum. My upright is double the weight at about 18 lbs, which is fairly standard. Older vacuums were even heavier so I have to wonder who you think was doing most of the vacuuming in the mid to late twentieth century 🤔
I read the comment about the new filter, but I'm still not sold. I have a old, light-weight vacuum that I use only for the tiny rug at the entryway. The canister design is just like the Ryobi's and It has the same problem in that the filter gets clogged fast - like really fast! The reason is because there is no cyclone action and all of the dirt goes straight toward the suction part of the vacuum, meaning the filter. What I do is to put a "pre-filter" in the form of a paper towel over the vacuum's filter, but that doesn't really resolve the problem because the dirt is still getting sucked onto the filter/pre-filter. The only real solution is to redesign the vacuum for cyclonic action, that's why the Dysons work so good. Are you listening Ryobi? I really want this vacuum!
The new mesh filter in front of the paper filter stops the paper filter from clogging. Only problem now is mesh filter clogs. Solution - bought a pack of scourer pads and i cut one to size to fit in front of mesh filter [ 2 second job] and now i can fill the canister with the finest dust and the suction isn't compromised. For a test i vacuumed one room with a good quality upright plug in vacuum and then went over it with the ryobi. The ryobi picked up quite a bit of fine dust that the other vacuum left behind. The ryobi is the best vacuum i have ever owned. The sub filter that i made, made it so so much better.
The 7181 version I have does have a roller off button right below the two speed, and there is an LED light, and tool-less roller removal. Also there is a pre-filter screen, and it is hard to pull the filter setup out. No falling out. You are missing a part there. The canister has a spring door up front for emptying. It is heave, so only 1 of your is currently valid. But thee weight does not bother me. It has a 70,000 rpm 45 min. run time motor compared to the newer slim model 60,000 rpm, and 30 min run time.
Many electric devices with multiple speeds start with the highest power setting because it’s better for the motor in the long term. Spooling up a motor with low power and slow speed actually wears the motor faster. That’s probably why it goes Off-High-Low.
I have had this vac since it was released. My only issue is that with long hair cats in the house hold, the hair gets wrapped around the brushes. There is no easy way to clean the head. After a while, the hair gets into the bearings and jams the brushes. I have to disassemble the head to clean out the bearing housing.
If you read the manual you'd know that the roller can slip out the side for easy cleaning. Three phillip head screws and the thing slides out No one reads manuals anymore.
Thank you for this video. The first worst part told me right off, I'll keep looking. We love our Ryobi One + tools, but this will not be one of them. However, I'm now a subscriber.
Thanks for the sub! You may want to look at the new version the P7181K. We haven't tried it yet but we plan to try it soon because it appears they have fixed many (most 🤞) of the issue we list here.
This may be a crazy question but I am looking for a working vacuum to add backpack straps & turn into a poltergust 5000 from Nintendo Luigi's mansion. Our son loves this video game & we saw videos on how to turn toy vacuum, however we thought let's modify a working one. What do you think? Could we take the stick part & replace with hose? My husband already had many Ryobi tools & batteries.
I had 3 stick vacs and all 3 went bad. The plastic gear on the roller brush wears down and the brush locks up. The belt seems to be stronger than the plastic gear. I loved the the idea of the stick vac that uses the ONE+ system but that plastic gear is a no-go for me.
Wow, yeah that is no good. We worried about that but haven't used it enough to wear it out like that. What were you using it for? Just around the house? Thanks for the comment Joe!
@@SolelyRyobi Just regular house vacuuming. 75% wooden floor and 25% rug.... I see they just released a newer version but alas, I recently bought a Tineco A11 series.
Got the vacuum for only around 1 year, the roller bar failed three times with pretty much similar symptom. I have got replacements from ryobi twice, but really do not want to waste my time on it anymore.
I purchased three of these vacuums with 4 6ah batteries an the six battery charger... I run a small office cleaning company ... my problem is the roller breaks after 6weeks I’m going to see if i can order just the roller an time how how many hours it last ... I’m sad with this because it save a ton of time with out having a cord attached when vacuuming
This was grabbing at straws not putting out a warning from the surgeon general. I have everything but the 3 gal vacuum and this model replaced my regular carpet vacuum. The filter is no worst than dealing with other filters, just hold it correctly. Even when it fell out in the video most of the mess stayed on the filter.
I know 2 woman that use this vac everyday and they both love it. One even used it a few times in her cleaning business. The roller does have to be cleaned but that is normal. It’s the best stick vac for the money. Im getting one this week to keep in the truck to clean up after we do some remodeling jobs since it has a HEPA a filter.
Do they have carpet? If so that makes sense. It doesn't rotate well on flat surface due to top being heavier than the bottom part (needs that friction to help rotate it) That and it spits dust back at you.
I have the latest model and it doesn't have a cyclonic action with baffles. The result is that larger stuff clogs the pre filter and the fine dust clogs the final filter. This happens FAST. I have to empty the thing and use a shop vac to clean everything. Not a usable too.
I bought one about 6 months ago and mine has a rocker on/off button that when you press the top of the button where the ridges are, the power head turns on and off. Still a 2 speed switch at the bottom end of the switch.
Dude, you're missing a component inside your filter chamber. Mine shipped with a fine screen component that keeps everything but the finest dust from reaching the paper filter you're so loudly complaining about. It makes emptying the collection chamber via the trap door much easier and obviates the need to remove the entire collection chamber except for when you need to replace the paper filter. Either they shipped you an incomplete unit, or you're not paying attention.
The weight would be a bit less of a problem if the handle was further back. I find that part of the discomfort while vacuuming, is you feel like you have to tilt your hand forward to push the cleaning head onto the floor. So yeah - a weight and also balance issue. But thats not the biggest problem. The rotating brush in the head wraps up with hair, and is very difficult to clean. They could make it removable for easy cleaning. The mechanism that drives the rotating brush in the head is weak, and ours got noisy after a couple of months, then kept jamming, an is now unusable. They should use a better quality roller mechanism. I was keen on this product because it works with my Ryobi batteries, but will now be buying a different incompatible brand because of the issues with this product. I only had this vacuum for a year, and was hoping for something better.
I just ordered one - I’ll be curious to see if it comes with the pre filter! I’ve got batteries and I think it will be fine for my purposes. Thank you for the review!
Our dust container lid broke its clip so we can no longer close the dust collection container. we will need to replace the spring loaded lid to fix as it appears that the latch that the rubbery large whitish clip holds on to is integrated to the lid.
This is a huge one. The brush roller head is held together with security Torx head screws. To change the belt, or clean the brush roller, a #10 torx driver is needed. It must be the type that is a thin screw driver. A kit with changeable bits will not work. Hair got in the area at the end of the roller on ours. It caused friction and melted the plastic brush roller to the plastic end plate, welding the 2 pieces together. I had a small vacuum store many years ago, and no other manufacturer did anything like this. Ryobi also does not sell the parts I need to fix it. A complete floor brush assembly costs $107 with shipping. Their web site has a distorted code that the customer must type in a box, and I can't read it most of the time. Frustration!
The suction is WEAK as Heck. I really would have thought it would be better for the brand and price however I find I often grab my handme down shark that I had to fix and even new was half the price. Very disappointed ☹️
ITS SO LOUD! It’s probably 10x louder than my Dyson or my LG stick vacuum. I purchase this to help manage our dogs hair while on vacation but it’s so loud I was asked to wait until everyone left before I turn it back on for use.
One thing I dont like about the Ryobi evercharge stick vac is the paper filter. It would be nice if Ryobi Made a washable foam filter. I was looking at the filter & I was wondering If a foam filter could be cut out of some 2 inch foam?
spot on man! it comes with 2 filters that fill up rather quickly and is quite painful to clean! 1 thing i completely hate is how the turbo head is literly screwed on by 3 screws its a shame you cant open it with a coin like the dyson head. i brought this vac to replace my old dyson. looking into the other vacs in this range.
PDTALLMAN you are right! They have done some major updates since the model we have. We talk about some of the updates in this video th-cam.com/video/_X8ZfU0RwCA/w-d-xo.html.
Thanks for the review. I guess it is necessary as no item pleases everyone completely. I have owned my P724 for a couple of months and have not noticed any of the things you mentioned. Perhaps it is because all my kids are grown and out of the house so the "kid factor" doesn't apply. I agree with another poster that combining 5 best and 5 worst in the same video would be productive. I'm 75 and although in pretty good shape, don't find it very heavy at all, so viewing your review without an immediate comparison would give me pause when considering it and I would miss out on what I consider a really good product. Regarding the filter falling out, I can see where that may be irritating since you would have to go get a vacuum and clean it up... oh wait... I have one in my hand! Anyway, I appear to be reviewing your review. Didn't mean to get picky. It is a good presentation and as I stated, combining best/worse in one video would be on my wish list.
Nope - I have this vac - Its bad. These are not the 5 worst things. The worst thing is the bad build quality on the cleaning head. Product has lots of potential - but fails to deliver.
I'm a woman and I agree with this list.. but the fact that it uses all the same batteries as the other tools is a big draw. If Ryobi made a narrower 18v battery with release buttons for those of us with shorter hand-spans that would be great. That's my number1 complaint with the Ryobi products. In my own home (with 20 Ryobi tools) I choose which battery size for the job. For leaf blowers and weed wackers, I grab the smaller batteries due to arm fatigue. Chop saw, big battery. Greenhouse fan, big battery.
That different model, in Australia has better upgraded new model, stick vacuum have added secondary filter flat inside it protest white primary filter keep good clean than that old model.
I think the North American version is now using the same filter as the Australian version, but the Aussie version has the ability to turn off the brush motor. I *_really_* wish that Ryobi would sell the extension tube for the hand-held vacuum in the US! That is an *_awesome_* idea!
@@peterpatina63 The problem with not being able to shut off the roller is that when vacuuming things like kitty litter the brush throws the litter around the room before it gets picked up.
I looked at this vac and realised that it's a cousin of the vax blade 2 max, which I bought. But the vax uses a 3 stage cyclonic filtration system, the bin can be full and it will still suck a golf ball through a garden hose. You press a button and the bin comes off the power head and you can take it outside to the garbage bin, press another button and all the dirt just falls out. 1000x better design. I haven't had to clean the filter in months. It's a shame ryobi fucked this up so badly, as I am invested in the Ryobi 18v line...
Sounds like you've never used any other vacuum before. Every single stick vacuum I've used has all of these features. Except the fact that 2 settings is perfect. Who cares if you have to go thru high before getting to low its like my hair dryer!
I've just bought mine in December 2019 and now notice that it shuts off automatically around 2 minutes of using it. Like it have to cool down or something. Then would start up after an hour of rest, then shuts down again after 2 min. Do I have a defective one or what?
What size battery are you using? I've noticed that if I use anything less than a 4 amp hour battery it gets hot and the vacuum shuts off to cool the battery down. My 4 or 6 amp hour battery does not have that issue.
Ya I'm definitely not getting this vacuum. Ryobi needs to fix a lot of things with it.The speed settings on the button I can live with. But the filter falling out, not being able to turn off the brushes, the comfortableness of it being so top heavy. All things they should've taken into consideration. Also your previous video showed the rollers kept stopping on certain carpet meaning it doesn't have much power either.
U want more than tech can give at the moment. Decrease weight and people would bitch about run time. If u want x amp hrs it's gonna weigh y amount until science makes a better bat. As for suction. I just ran it at the store fresh filter. Strongest I've tried and I own p714 have tried 2 other mfgs with in last 3 months. The filter part is unforgivable. They need a pre-filter like the p714. They could have put the hole further forward and every done the cyclone trick. If I had a 3d printer and time I'd make a better canister and buy this vac. I really like the p714 and the stick seemed better suction off bat I demoed it next to 300buck Dyson. Dyson marketing says it's the Era of cordless but that's just it man... Its a fucking advertisement. Thesr vacs are amazing for what they are.. But they aren't quite there yet with battery tech
I own many Rybi tools but find the stick vac to be the most poorly designed tool in my inventory. \ First it is heavy, my wife has difficulty vacuuming just three rooms. Second, it clogs easily and you are constantly having to clean the the holding tank. Third, cleaning the brush (we have dogs) it is ridiculous. You can not remove the brush and have to cut through hair with scissors and pull out with your finders. The brush does not come out of the head as on most vacs. You say in your video that some of these problems are ot deal breakers but after owning it for a period of tie and the inconvenience of all combined are deal breakers. I'm going out tomorrow and get a new stick vac of some other make. This one is just a $200 loss.
I agree about the brush clogging with hair far too easily, but if you read the instruction manual, you are able to remove the brush from the head for cleaning. You must remove three screws so it's a PITB, but you can remove it.
The screen on the Ryobi vacuum constantly gets plugged and the vacuum stops sucking. It also SUPER loud. I hate it. I love my other Ryobi tools and have 8 ONE+ batteries, but this vacuum is a failure.
Your presentation is convincing. I have 6 different Ryobi battery tools, but I ain't buying this thing. You got my upvote and I put you on my list of shortcuts, because I want to see you again. My only criticism of this video is you are too long-winded. Just get to the point and help us out. Also: what about the accessories Ryobo is offering to go with this vacuum? One is a slide-out white-colored thing that their ad makes look flexible. Is it really flexible? Also, how good is the flexible-looking hose on one of the accessories. Thanks buddy, and keep up the good work.
I think that means the roller brush isn’t spinning. Mine does that when it’s bound up with long hair. If it is wrapped in hair, it is best to cut the hair with scissors and pull it off the roller. Taking the roller out can be a pain in the rear.
How the hell do I return this!? Amazon won't let me because it's been 30 days. It's shooting glass and metal back at my feet! I'm going to complain to the BBC if they don't respond to me.
It's not the actual weight so much as the weight difference: the top is "heavy" but the bottom is very light plastic. It makes it hard to rotate (you have to push downward), like an alien with a huge head and small body.
@@TheDarkFalcon that's still not good. I should have opted for the Makita one, but I saw the battery size on this one was much higher. Suction is inadequate, and it spits dust back at you due to some realignment issues.
@@WarPigstheHun I just ended up going for a Dyson V8, which I'm quite happy with (only real negative; dust bin could be larger). I was considering one of these from the video since I already own the batteries but no one really posted a full detail video about them so I didn't buy it.
I love it so far! The only problem I see is they included the shittiest power supply ever. It absolutely needs a regular Ryobi battery charger. The included wall charger is so incredibly slow it's not very feasible unless you mount it on the wall and there's long stretches of non use so it can charge slowly.
The wall charger is not suppose to be quick. It's there so when you've finished vacuuming it trickle charges it so by the next time you use it, its ready to go. I do my whole house on one 5amp battery.
@@peterpatina63 yes you're right. Eh I mounted mine today and cut the cords off (well I left a couple inches just in case I ever want to use that again) and instead mounted a regular battery charger on the wall next to them to easily recharge as needed. Wow, I can only get around 10 minutes on my 4ah battery. Someday I should get the 6ah if it's ever on sale.
You’re just being super nit-picky about things that aren’t real issues. The things that really “suck” about it is the hose connecting the head to the stick will tear and break easily with head unit being about $75 to replace, you cannot replace only the hose. Also the battery clips are prone to breaking easily. I’m on the edge about buying a new one but it’s nice having interchangeable batteries. I might just have to look at a different brand.
My opinion, but dude - YOU'RE the tool. You DO realize this thing is designed to hang in the shop alongside the other Ryobi tools with which it interchanges batteries. This may be a shock, but check out the wall behind you. It's meant to clean up the shop when you're done; ya know, think sawdust. If "kids" are using it, OR you vacuumed your house as you stated, then you shouldn't be allowed out shopping on your own. Much less opening the box - you're missing parts of the filter. Might wanna pull that box out of the trash there, my friend.
My top 5 dislikes: 1. Filter - needs a slippery metal mesh pre-filter like the handvac so you can tap the cannister and the dirt will fall out of the bottom door. 2. Low speed is useless. Should have one speed with maybe a 'turbo' button. 3. The roller brush is hard to clean. Should come apart so can keep clean.4. The charging mount is flimsy. Seems like it could break easily under weight of vac, stick, roller. 5. Slow charging. It takes a day to charge a 4ah. Needs to be more than trickle charge.
@@vaughanpower4538 Hair gets stuck around all rollers, well, on every vacuum that i've ever owned. The dyson seems to be less affected but they're way too expensive for what they do.
After having owned the Ryobi stick vac for 7 months now, I can't recommend it in any way. It's useless. I love the One+ range of tools generally, but this one is terrible. The fatal issue it has is the brush head. The bearing on the belt driven side of the head overheats and eventually ceases up completely. I thought it was just a manufacturing fault with my particular one, so took it back and replaced it, but now the replacement has started doing the same thing. On top of this my wife finds it too heavy to use comfortably, so I end up doing all the vacuuming. It does choke up with dust quite quickly even with the mesh filter, but most stick vacs do in my experience, and it's pretty easy to empty and clean out with some compressed air. The brush reel in the head cannot be removed easily for cleaning, requiring a screwdriver and 3 screws to do so. The rest of the unit is fine, suction is pretty decent and it is sold - but it's fatally flawed unfortunately. I will be taking mine back for a full refund this week and purchasing something else to replace it.
First off, great video as I'm comparing this model to the new 2022 model before I purchase. High and Low speed is mostly preference. I have watched countless videos where majority of people prefer high speed first like all portable fans are designed. I own a few other cordless vacuums and they are useless on Low speed, so I can truly understand the high speed. LOL. The complaint on the weight makes me chose the newer 2022 model for a little more money. (Oh snap we have a biden inflation, i guess its a lot more money)
This is the worst vacuum cleaner I owned. It is loud. It has to be cleaned very often and it looses its suction very fast. I so regret the $200 I spent on it.
POORLY THOUGHT OUT MACHINE. MINE CAME WITH A PREFILTER BUT IT ACTUALLY MAKES THE DIRT CONTAINER EVEN SMALLER. TOP HEAVY AND CHEAP ROLLERS SQUEAK AND POWER BUTTON IS A DISASTER. RYOBI HAS THE WORST BATTERIES. IT TAKE 17 HOURS TO CHARGE THIS THING WITH THE CHARGER IT COMES WITH....
Make sure to check out the new model (P7181K). It looks like they have fixed many of the issues we had with this older model!
I’m a girl and I have no problem using this as well as my 15 other ryobi tools.
A perfect picture of a girl / woman who is not afraid to get her hands dirty;)
There was a little tool shed, where he made us suffer.
Ok
That's cuz ur not a normal girl! Cheater! D:
Hey is it loud for the house
This is the only video that speak about the worst things so we should appreciate that, there are 100s of videos about the good things.
OK. I feel like you should do the best and worst at the same time. Also I feel you really pushed this one.
1. You didn't state the weight and didn't even compare it to vacuums like it.
2. With vacuums like this the rollers are almost always on. I've personally never seen them turn off.

I am only bying this because they use the same batteries as my other tools. I love that !!
Same ryobi smart once u get the batteries next thing u know u have very tool lol
Heavy heavy heavy. Get to the Gym or vacuum more often.
Yea, funny, coming from a guy who is reviewing a tool not a hair dryer, I have stopped watching after this first worst thing......
I use mine with the biggest thickest OnePlus 18v battery they make. It's still easier than my cannister vac.
Thanks for the feedback
Is it loud?
Uhh. I tried standing the thing and it's like trying to stand an alien with a small body and fat head. Feels like 1 poke and the whole thing collapses to the ground.
Had mine for over a year.. love everything about. Especially since they added the new pre-filter screen...
Hi! What's the model number of a new version? Thanks
Thanks for this video. I didn’t realize I didn’t like mine until I was told not like it. Now what do I do? I have no mind of my own. (Spoken like a true sheep).
I like mine. It’s. Perfect supplement to the Dyson. It’s not a whole house vacuum in my opinion, but more for quick clean ups in the garage, powdered soap in the laundry room, crumbs, etc.
hahahaha
Peter Patina Bro why don’t u make a video on that !!! That would be awesome!!
That’s probably why it goes Off-High-Low.
exactly the same reason almost all electric fans go off-high-medium-low. the high setting ensures it spins up under load.
absolutely, the reviewer doesn't know what's up... had to find 5 things to complain about somehow right?
I have had this vac since it was released. My only issue is that with long hair cats in the house hold, the hair gets wrapped around the brushes. There is no easy way to clean the head. After a while, the hair gets into the bearings and jams the brushes. I have to disassemble the head to clean out the bearing housing.
If you read the manual you'd know that the roller can slip out the side for easy cleaning. Three phillip head screws and the thing slides out No one reads manuals anymore.
@@peterpatina63 There is "no easy way" to clean the head. Breaking out the tools every couple of weeks to clean the brush head is a PITA.
@@SolelyRyobi You're welcome. I looked them both up on HoDe and the new version is only point 2 pounds less in weight. 🙁
Does Ryobi make a version just for hard floors? Our entire house is tile and would love one that is soft on the floor.
The wall mount bracket doesn't hold or work at all?
My Ryobi stick sweeper is not picking up the dirt. It must be clogged how do I fix it?
👍 Thank you, FILTER issues are a total deal breaker.
You might want to read the other comment on how to get it replaced if you didn't notice it.
He's missing a filter part. There is a screen he is supposed to have.
Every shop vac I've ever used does the same thing with the filter. That's where the air flow heads so I'm not sure how you could prevent that.
I have the latest model and it doesn't have a cyclonic action with baffles. The result is that larger stuff clogs the pre filter and the fine dust clogs the final filter. This happens FAST. I have to empty the thing and use a shop vac to clean everything. Not a usable too.
I have 3 dogs... would you recommend this for daily dog hair vacuuming up off the floor?
Yea u have the new one , yours has led light on the roller correct ? The one he’s reviewing is the older model
Have you seen the new version of this Ryobi just released?
Good video. Subscribed!
Anyone can help ID the brush roller? I need a replacement for it.
Where do I buy a replacement roller brush???
The suction is WEAK as Heck. I really would have thought it would be better for the brand and price however I find I often grab my handme down shark that I had to fix and even new was half the price. Very disappointed ☹️
ITS SO LOUD! It’s probably 10x louder than my Dyson or my LG stick vacuum. I purchase this to help manage our dogs hair while on vacation but it’s so loud I was asked to wait until everyone left before I turn it back on for use.
One thing I dont like about the Ryobi evercharge stick vac is the paper filter. It would be nice if Ryobi
Made a washable foam filter.
I was looking at the filter & I was wondering
If a foam filter could be cut out of some 2 inch foam?
spot on man! it comes with 2 filters that fill up rather quickly and is quite painful to clean! 1 thing i completely hate is how the turbo head is literly screwed on by 3 screws its a shame you cant open it with a coin like the dyson head. i brought this vac to replace my old dyson. looking into the other vacs in this range.
I checked the latest version at the Home Depot website and it indicates the brush roller can be turned on or off.
PDTALLMAN you are right! They have done some major updates since the model we have. We talk about some of the updates in this video th-cam.com/video/_X8ZfU0RwCA/w-d-xo.html.
Yes. That is the version I just purchased today.
But is it heavy?
thank you for providing a counterbalance to the marketing BS
Actually if you have the Ryobi p7181 there are two buttons on your unit the top one is for high and low. The bottom button is for the brush
Thank you sir , it helping me know much more better about refer vacuum cleaner.
My ceiling fan and flashlight both start on high and then go to low and then off.
I've had my stick sucker for a couple years now. It's been good but the head now loses connection and stops spinning most of the time
If those are the five worst things about that vacuum, it must be a pretty good machine.
😉😉 Although... the new model looks like it is even better! Can't wait to get our hands on it.
@@Pro1er Pre filter yes, ability to turn off brush no. When its on low speed, the brush turns off, on high brush turns on. Australia here
@@peterpatina63 That's what I was saying, with the North American version the brush can not be turned off regardless of speed.
@@Pro1er Ha funny, i wish the roller would work on low speed. You want mine and i want yours.
@@peterpatina63 The problem with not being able to shut off the roller is that when vacuuming things like kitty litter the brush throws the litter around the room before it gets picked up.
Each one of those is exactly why my stick vac sits on a shelf in my basement and I have a lot of Ryobi tools that I use frequently...
Thank you for an excellent video.
I can't count how many times I've wished I could shut my vacuum off faster.
Love the videos, I’m glad to here you also tell us about the negatives on the tools
great video
Hi Robert! Yes, that sounds like a defective unit. We recommend contacting Ryobi Support to confirm.
What size battery are you using? I've noticed that if I use anything less than a 4 amp hour battery it gets hot and the vacuum shuts off to cool the battery down. My 4 or 6 amp hour battery does not have that issue.
The battery takes a long, long time to recharge so that may be your problem. Ryobi does sell a "fast" charger (~1-1/2 hours) if you feel you need one.
2 button press. stops the rollers
What's number one again....I missed it,
I own many Rybi tools but find the stick vac to be the most poorly designed tool in my inventory. \
First it is heavy, my wife has difficulty vacuuming just three rooms.
You can take the brush head out
Was dumb to put on a slow charger. You need battery and soon, not overnight after you use it one time.
I will buy it.
what about smaller men ? might be difficult for them as well
Best 12v car vacuum
The flexible pipe in the power head cracks and is impossible to replace easily.
The screen on the Ryobi vacuum constantly gets plugged and the vacuum stops sucking. It also SUPER loud. I hate it. I love my other Ryobi tools and have 8 ONE+ batteries, but this vacuum is a failure.
The roller toggle button is literally below the power button???
You are correct, the new version fixed many of the issues we had with this older model. Including adding a roller toggle button.
What about run time.
What does it mean when my light turns red
I think that means the roller brush isn’t spinning. Mine does that when it’s bound up with long hair. If it is wrapped in hair, it is best to cut the hair with scissors and pull it off the roller. Taking the roller out can be a pain in the rear.
Removing the roller brush is difficult. The videos posted makes it look simple. Nope it is an easy task
How the hell do I return this!? Amazon won't let me because it's been 30 days. It's shooting glass and metal back at my feet! I'm going to complain to the BBC if they don't respond to me.
"this unit is heavy"
And yet don't give a weight of the unit 🙄🙄🙄
proof: trust me bro
It's not the actual weight so much as the weight difference: the top is "heavy" but the bottom is very light plastic. It makes it hard to rotate (you have to push downward), like an alien with a huge head and small body.
@@WarPigstheHun that describes all stick vacs though?
@@teddybonkers3580 I already had a 5amp for my drop saw and i use that. I do my whole house with that.
Teddy Bonkers 10 mins ??? R u serious???
You’re just being super nit-picky about things that aren’t real issues. The things that really “suck” about it is the hose connecting the head to the stick will tear and break easily with head unit being about $75 to replace, you cannot replace only the hose. Also the battery clips are prone to breaking easily. I’m on the edge about buying a new one but it’s nice having interchangeable batteries. I might just have to look at a different brand.
I stop buying this product now . Thanks for good information
review a sabre saw perhaps? or review all of the Ryobi sabre saws compared to each other?
My opinion, but dude - YOU'RE the tool. You DO realize this thing is designed to hang in the shop alongside the other Ryobi tools with which it interchanges batteries. This may be a shock, but check out the wall behind you. It's meant to clean up the shop when you're done; ya know, think sawdust. If "kids" are using it, OR you vacuumed your house as you stated, then you shouldn't be allowed out shopping on your own. Much less opening the box - you're missing parts of the filter. Might wanna pull that box out of the trash there, my friend.
Catched the hot points of weakness
My top 5 dislikes: 1. Filter - needs a slippery metal mesh pre-filter like the handvac so you can tap the cannister and the dirt will fall out of the bottom door. 2. Low speed is useless. Should have one speed with maybe a 'turbo' button. 3. The roller brush is hard to clean. Should come apart so can keep clean.4. The charging mount is flimsy. Seems like it could break easily under weight of vac, stick, roller. 5. Slow charging. It takes a day to charge a 4ah. Needs to be more than trickle charge.
You can always get a standalone charger. They cost like $20 on the secondary market. Those will charge that battery in about 30 minutes or less.
They now come with a pre filter. Contact ryobi and you can buy it from them. Makes all the difference.
beauty tool.....!, i like Ryobi (from Don Torcuato, Buenos Aires, Argentina)
My arm was tired 😂😂😂
We dont have a problem with clogging....you missed the roller gets hair stuck around it.
The roller slides out the side for quick cleaning. Don't you read the manual
@@peterpatina63 didn't you read my comment.i said hair gets stuck around the roller.i didnt say you cant get rid of it.
@@vaughanpower4538 Hair gets stuck around all rollers, well, on every vacuum that i've ever owned. The dyson seems to be less affected but they're way too expensive for what they do.

"Women and Children" -- I'm sure my 12 year old could handle this tool. My wife could probably pick up the video host with one arm :D
Let me guess u don't like the color
I love the color. Have a blessed day
After having owned the Ryobi stick vac for 7 months now, I can't recommend it in any way.
Nothing is perfect... 5 worst.... I can careless. I will get this vacuum within a week.
Wow, disappointing, everyone else uses some sort of cyclonic chamber, too bad ryobi don't. Almost a great tool...
2 speed switch is being a bit nit picky...
If its heavy because its got a big motor, then I don't give a rat's arse about how heavy it is.
Paint your drywall please. It takes away from the quality of an otherwise excellent video. IMO
This is the worst vacuum cleaner I owned. It is loud. It has to be cleaned very often and it looses its suction very fast. I so regret the $200 I spent on it.
So the vacuum, sucks...
Ahh... we see what you did there... 😉
Who's we?
5stardave good question. There are several people who contribute to this channel. We try and get input from multiple, before creating content.
My rollers _screech_ too.
