In Fortune Valley, they didn't even put the right engine in, they just put the stock motor in. In Palm City, they put the closest resembling engine into the car, though I don't think it sounds exact
The story goes like this. The player started out as a street racer in Palmont City. Darius recognised the player's skills and took him into his crew where he also met Nikki. Since the player was so good at evading cops, winning races and Nikki becoming more interested in the player, Darius felt threatened by the player's ambition to own all of Palmont. In the final race for Palmont's territory control, Darius gave the player a spare Supra while setting the player up for being hunted by the cops. The cop sting went without a hitch with Darius bribing a cop to help the player escape while switching the money bag so that everyone comes to regard the player as a thief and traitor who tipped off the cops. On his way out of Palmont City, he meets an old friend who had been customising a rare BMW M3 GTR. Impressed with the work, the player asks his friend to give him the car and that he will pay for it later, leaving Darius' Supra with him as collateral. Armed with the new and more impressive car, the player ventures into nearby Rockport to earn cash to pay his friend and settle down at Rockport as a professional street racer. So the player was angry when Razor cheated and stole the BMW since it was a one of a kind ride that was not available at shops anywhere in Rockport or Palmont. Meanwhile, the player's friend sold off Darius' Supra when he became strapped for cash, since the player has not returned for a long time from Rockport and believed him to be in jail. However, the police heat at Rockport was too high for the player after defeating Razor and he left the town and headed back to his friend who accepts the remainder of the payment needed to cover the cost of the BMW after selling the Supra. The player's friend also relates about how his final race opponents Kenji, Angie and Wolf have now become owners of areas in Palmont. Since the player was confident in his skills, he heads over back to Palmont to restart his career as a street racer. Cross who was angry at the player due to losing his job at Rockport Police Department, takes a different route towards Palmont and encounters the player at Carbon Canyon and attempts to take him down, resulting in the totalling of the BMW due to damage accumulated over time... Or so I would like to believe!

To all the confused people, yes, the M3 GTR dies, but it's not the player who kills it. There's a cut clip of Carbon where before leaving, Cross deliberately rams back into the M3 totalling the car and then laughing about it says "Ooh! Damnn my bad hehehe!"
The player was originally intended to be in darius’ supra as shown in that clip (and also why the wing mirror is a different shape in the cutscenes compared to most wanted) but they decided to use the M3 anyway for continuity sake but didn’t have time to re shoot the cutscenes with the actors and the IRL car model due to the game’s release window
It survived a Fucking jumbo screen impact, being rammed by Rhinos from the RPD, A shit ton of heavy roadblocks, why did they let it just die like that.

In the original story script and betas for carbon, the player was supposed to get the GTR back within the story. You would use the various crew members you recruited to help rebuild it before your duel with Darius.
Fun fact: The Toyota supra which the protagonist used during the race against Kenji, Wolf and Angie was going to win anyway, not because of the protagonist abilities but because his car was level 3 XD. This game along with the previous one were my favourite NFS games.
I wish people would realize that NFS Underground 1 and 2 have nothing to do with NFS Most Wanted and Carbon, the protagonist in MW and Carbon is the same character but in Underground 1 and 2 it's a completely different character
The player is mentioned in Prostreet and Ryan Cooper is mentioned in Undercover and Payback, unless if the "little blue car" was an Easter Egg of the blue traffic cars in NFS Carbon.

I hate that the BMW was destroyed. IMHO, would be better, if it survived and Darius would say something like: "You owe me money and a car (meaning the Supra that hero used to escape Palmont City), so I'm taking your BMW and now you're working for me". In the end we would get two cars: Darius's Audi and our BMW. But most likely Audi was one of the game sponsors, of course they didn't want BMW to stay in storyline for a long time.
This is Carbon plot hole. BMW wasn't destroyed at all (at least didn't look destroyed) but simply disappeared. That sad and I hate this in NFS Carbon (of course its still very good game). They could make it like You said - Darius took it and we get it at the end. What is worse, we won't get Darius Audi in the carrer - it's only unlocked in Quick Race. In Most Wanted we got BMW in the carrer and could drive it in Free Roam or repeat races. That's why I prefer Most Wanted. We could really enjoy our prize.
In NFS Heat the player get the M3 GTR after completing the main story, in which the head of the cities high speed police chase unit gets busted for running an underground business where he smuggled expensive cars, when he gets caught he uses the M3 to attempt to escape, the player must chase him down and in turn take down the M3 after Lt. Mercer disappears the player gets the M3 and can use it

Yeah. The player was framed after that race in Palmont, escaped to Rockport, then Most Wanted happened. Then he escaped Rockport and went back to Palmont. And Cross chased him for revenge after losing his job because he let the "Most Wanted racer" get away.

It's so strange and sad that this series of events got ended so abruptly. There's still a lot of potential. Like here, this is my idea: Imagine city Fairstead, a bit away from Palmont and Rockport. Main Hero of MW and Carbon moved there and now lives a quiet life as a mechanic in his own car shop. But his son, Jack, recently discovered about dad's past, about the races in Rockport and Palmont, how father became #1 in the Black List and the top dog among the gangs of Palmont. He wants to show that he's as good as his dad was, he steals dad's car and drives to the fork that goes to Palmont and Rockport. While standing there and pondering where to go next, he hears sirens and sees a girl in a very tuned and customized car, being chased by the police. Without a second thought, he starts driving and control of the car switches to us. We shutdown cops one by one until girl stops her car and new cutscene starts. Girl asks where he's from and where he learned to drive like that. Then she says that her name is Clara and that she goes to Palmont, and if he wants to help her get there. Jack agrees, they arrive, and then we see that her dad showed up in his Mercedes EQXX. Car stops, door opens, a man goes out and slams the door. Camera pans from his legs upwards. We see that her dad is... Darius. Also, some more features: 1) Razor is out of the jail, he wants to restore the Black List and make his son, Davon, who is the main antagonist and a highly dangerous guy, a permanent #1. 2) Jack and Clara are a classic Romeo and Juliette duet; both escaped from their parents and seek independence. They have found an abandoned garage somewhere between the cities and we can switch between them (between Jack and Clara. Yes, 2 protagonists, plus Hero is a side character.) 3) Main Hero goes to Palmont to find his son, but he discovers that Razor came here, asking Darius to help him restore the Black List and offers him permanent #2 in it, but Darius wants more than that, he wants to restore Gangs and offers Razor his own piece of the city, the new district that has been built for 15 years. Darius is now going into politics, he wants to be a mayor in the next elections, and he wants to end with races in his city... by controlling them. 4) Main Hero stumbles upon the old Cross, who wants to put both Darius and Razor in the jail, but he's a chief officer in Fairstead now, so there has to be a deal made between the two. 5) Ultimately, Jack and Clara are racing against the New Black List, while in parallel we are trying to help Hero with his own fight against Darius and Razor, who are partners now. Cross is helping us.

Late af reply but, Nikki was the player's girlfriend in the past. Nikki had the prize money but the bag got switched by Darius, unbeknownst to Nikki. Everyone including Nikki thought that the player ambushed the race that night, and escaped Palmont with the money, at least that's what Darius is telling everyone.
Since everyone sat down and talked, it became clear to them that the cops knew about the race and made an ambush, and since you're the only one who escaped (they saw that there's a cop who helped you) they connected that you cheated and was the reason they got caught, Nikki hated you because she gave you the bag and tried to get in your car but you moved before she could and she got caught
This is why I love BMW M3 GTR E46 . It is so LEGEND ! Because of Most Wanted and Carbon , The BMW started being my favourite car again . I hope EA Games will bring some nostalgic games again . But not like Payback of Heat . Especially , Heat . They destroyed the Legend in the hand of a cop , who was making some dirty money and doing illegal jobs .

Yeah. The player was framed after that race in Palmont, escaped to Rockport, then Most Wanted happened. Then he escaped Rockport and went back to Palmont. And Cross chased him for revenge after losing his job because he let the "Most Wanted racer" get away.
not at all. its nfsc intro, then nfs prostreet (its not ryan cooper but if you listen closely you can hear an easter egg of the announcer saying there is a blue supra with a license plate that says CARBON. the driver in this story line is different from ryan cooper. the driver stops by at prostreet then leaves for underground.), nfsu, nfsu2, then nfsmw, then nfsc, and then finally nfs undercover (there is an easter egg where you hear a cop saying they arrested a guy with a helmet that goes by ryan cooper during free roam)
I always wanted to drive Darius Supra tho, too bad that we didn't get a chance to drive it and it's not easy to create it

It's so strange and sad that this series of events got ended so abruptly. There's still a lot of potential. Like here, this is my idea:
Imagine city Fairstead, a bit away from Palmont and Rockport.
Main Hero of MW and Carbon moved there and now lives a quiet life as a mechanic in his own car shop. But his son, Jack, recently discovered about dad's past, about the races in Rockport and Palmont, how father became #1 in the Black List and the top dog among the gangs of Palmont. He wants to show that he's as good as his dad was, he steals dad's car and drives to the fork that goes to Palmont and Rockport.
While standing there and pondering where to go next, he hears sirens and sees a girl in a very tuned and customized car, being chased by the police. Without a second thought, he starts driving and control of the car switches to us. We shutdown cops one by one until girl stops her car and new cutscene starts.
Girl asks where he's from and where he learned to drive like that. Then she says that her name is Clara and that she goes to Palmont, and if he wants to help her get there. Jack agrees, they arrive, and then we see that her dad showed up in his Mercedes EQXX.
Car stops, door opens, a man goes out and slams the door. Camera pans from his legs upwards. We see that her dad is... Darius.
Also, some more features:
1) Razor is out of the jail, he wants to restore the Black List and make his son, Davon, who is the main antagonist and a highly dangerous guy, a permanent #1.
2) Jack and Clara are a classic Romeo and Juliette duet; both escaped from their parents and seek independence. They have found an abandoned garage somewhere between the cities and we can switch between them (between Jack and Clara. Yes, 2 protagonists, plus Hero is a side character.)
3) Main Hero goes to Palmont to find his son, but he discovers that Razor came here, asking Darius to help him restore the Black List and offers him permanent #2 in it, but Darius wants more than that, he wants to restore Gangs and offers Razor his own piece of the city, the new district that has been built for 15 years. Darius is now going into politics, he wants to be a mayor in the next elections, and he wants to end with races in his city... by controlling them.
4) Main Hero stumbles upon the old Cross, who wants to put both Darius and Razor in the jail, but he's a chief officer in Fairstead now, so there has to be a deal made between the two.
5) Ultimately, Jack and Clara are racing against the New Black List, while in parallel we are trying to help Hero with his own fight against Darius and Razor, who are partners now. Cross is helping us.
This has to be one of the best pitch I ever saw for a NFS Story. And I mean it.🤝

me who grinded 100 million even i finished the whole game who tried to get to 1 billion bounty just for my data to lose and a massive emotional damage.
I just dont know how people didnt noticed the detail at 0:10 where you could saw player's face for only time. Still an amazing and underrated masterpiece.

Cross went after the player since the bridge from Rockport most likely only led to Palmont, so he just toke the route from there and caught up with the player.

Late af reply but, Nikki was the player's girlfriend in the past. Nikki had the prize money but the bag got switched by Darius, unbeknownst to Nikki. Everyone including Nikki thought that the player ambushed the race that night, and escaped Palmont with the money, at least that's what Darius is telling everyone.
Since everyone sat down and talked, it became clear to them that the cops knew about the race and made an ambush, and since you're the only one who escaped (they saw that there's a cop who helped you) they connected that you cheated and was the reason they got caught, Nikki hated you because she gave you the bag and tried to get in your car but you moved before she could and she got caught

This is why I love BMW M3 GTR E46 . It is so LEGEND ! Because of Most Wanted and Carbon , The BMW started being my favourite car again . I hope EA Games will bring some nostalgic games again .
