Nice work explaining it in a simplistic way...It helps with like you mentioned (confidence) ...that's usually the primary factor in people who pull their own...and people who pay$$ to have it pulled...👍
thanks for this video man! even 4 years later. im pulling my engine for the first time and everything is done besides the mounts. i had to hammer one of my LCAs for about an hour to get the ball joint out, then i was hammering the shift pin in the linkage (the stock hollow one) for damn near 3 hours but its finally ready to come out lmao pro tip: use a 1/4 socket extension if you don't have the right punch. after 3 hours the only thing that would punch it out was a socket extension lmao
got any auto to manuals swaps planned out? I ove the way you convey how simple working on a Honda really is. I was afraid to take my manual trans apart until saw your vid on it. Thanks for taking your time to do these videos for us!
Hey love your video! Or videos! They have been helping me alot... I have one question tho! I am taking out my motor to add vitara pistons and rods... So my question is, while disconnecting everything is it easier to leave the hoses and wire harness all in the engine bay so when you put the motor back together it's easier to plug everything back in or should I take it out with the motor.... (Sorry only thing scares me about taking out my engine is not knowing where hoses and stuff connect back haha too!)
This is sooooo helpful thank you. I had to write this out and I am going to tick it off as I go..... Defo watch to full video as well though.... Removal of engine checklist Drain All fluids Remove Battery Remove Air filter Remove Rad Disconnect Wiring loom (Left & Right) also one in your fuse box just one wire Disconnect top parts - brake line, throttle cable, fuel line (both sides), clutch line Disconnect all coolant lines (connected to fire wall) Remove gear linkage & drive shaft from gearbox Remove the gear linkage you have two bars One is held on with a 12mm Other is held on with a pin, (might be a cover on this) - you need to right sized punch to punch this out Take off the throttle body to avoid damage to the TPS sensor Remove rear bracket x2 19mm bottom x1 17mm on the top Remove gearbox bracket & mount Remove left upper mount last Might be a vibration bracket between the fan & the gearbox remove this. WHEN REMOVING ENGINE YOU WENT TO TILT IT (WATCH THE VIDEO) Removing suspension checklist Wheel off Coilover/ strut fork - remove 17mm bolt/Nut remove 14mm bolt that holds the strut on the fork Remove lower ball joint bolt Find a MASSIVE HAMMER & hammer on the lower control arm . PRAY TO THE CAR GODS..... Once you hit that one million times it will separate The knuckle will move out & then remove hub nut :)
When you pull motors do you leave slave cylinder on the side and power steering bracket ? I’m wanting to pull my motor but I’m not sure if I will need fluids for both when I pull the motor. I heard you can put them on the side and not have worry about them but is that true ?
I'm doing this tomorrow... bought a 96 civic ex with a hydrolocked engine (guy said he thought it was an electrical problem, my ass!)... first honda. seems easy :) thanks
there is a leverage element to it, like i dont fully remember but wedge something in it and put it on a jack, lower the car and it will pop out.. had this issue wish i remembered the details better
Probably one of the best videos out there for a beginner to watch. Props to you for explaining it so simply and concisely. Appreciate it!
I wish I would have found your channel earlier there so helpful. I don't even have a Honda anymore but I still watch
Yo man thank you for making a vid that doesnt leave anything out and keeps it simple

Is the clutch line for b16 the same of the d16? And the master cylinder and slave cylinder? Change both?
Thanks for the videos. It's very important.
When you pull motors do you leave slave cylinder on the side and power steering bracket ? I’m wanting to pull my motor but I’m not sure if I will need fluids for both when I pull the motor. I heard you can put them on the side and not have worry about them but is that true ?
