I have a Seiko SBCM023 with the 8f35 HAQ movement. Same overall dimensions as the SKX013 but with the larger SKX handset. I’ve always had 40mm+ automatic watches so this took a little while to get used to but now I absolutely love it. It was bogging when I bought it but after a good clean, fitting a DD sapphire, a milled clasp from an SPB051 and refinishing the original Oyster bracelet (obtaining the missing pins and collars from Seiko UK was an ordeal) it’s mint! Always tells the right time and date and the battery lasts ten years! Gerrinthere! It now has an OE SKX013 Jubilee, an Uncle Seiko Z199 a black Di-Modell Rallye leather and a tan Geckota Vintage Prescott for whatever mood I’m in. The drilled lugs make swapping straps easy peasy. It’s my daily wearer now and I couldn’t go back to a big watch..
if you, like me, wear the SKX mostly for non-diving activities (city, sports, beach) I find the 013 is much more elegant and convenient than the 007/009. I normally wear cases under 36 mm, although don't mind a bit bigger for diver or chronograph models. But the 013 hits the sweet spot. Neat video. Keep them coming.
FYI: All SKX models have the same lug-to-lug distance. So the lugs stick out more on the 013 and 015. I have a 6.75" wrist, and I found that the large face was better than the longer lugs. I ended up with a 007.
These small watches are on trend now. The watches in the 60s and 70s were usually 35 to 38mm. What will my friends do with their 45mm watches. I suppose it's like flared trousers. They will come round again. At least on this watch they've dropped the stupid lume pip on the back end of the second hand
the only thing missing on the 013 is the lumed lolly-pop second hand, it looks beautiful to see it revolving in the dark on the 09. A really cool touch which i badly wish were there on the 013.
I do like the Pepsi bezel, especially when it hits the light and its offset against the jubilee. It looks cool. However, I prefer the monotone dark dark grey/black dial on the 007/013. This watch reminds me of the 1980s... A perfect nostalgia purchase.
My only issue with the 013 is that from what I can tell, it’s noticeably smaller in diameter, but nearly the same in height. So while I can appreciate the smaller size with my 6.5” wrist, I feel like the height would seem excessive being 12.5mm or so. With the smaller diameter the height would seem to tower off the wrist. My 007 sits quite proud off my wrist, not quite too much that I don’t like it, but I feel like it is proportionate to the overall size and shape. I feel like if it were any smaller, but still sat as high it would seem too high. I did a lot of humming and hawing over whether to get the 013 or 007, having small wrists. When I saw a 007 with strapcode super oyster bracelet, a couple natos and a nice leather strap included, for less than others were selling the watch on stock rubber strap, I abandoned my research and pulled the trigger. I couldn’t be happier with my 007. It is about as big as I could pull off with my wrist size, and as others stated, the shorter lug to lug really helps the watch to fit on a smaller wrist and not come close to overhanging lugs. And I definitely think (I can’t know, not having handled one) that the 013 would seem to sit too high off of the wrist, having much smaller proportions in all but the height dimension. Since I already feel like my 007 sits very proud, and borders on sitting too proud, I think the smaller diameter with almost the same height would accentuate that height that much more, making it awkward to wear. That said, I’d still love to be able to try one on and feel it out. I’d love to be wrong about the height, because it would be great to have a slightly smaller, more unassuming SXK to wear for those (rare) occasions when I put down the SKX for something smaller. Long live the SKX and its family of sturdy, affordable divers!
I’ve had both but sold my 013. Normally I like my watches 40mm or below but the 007 just felt better proportioned to me. Both sizes seem to suit a wide range of wrists so can’t go wrong really.
If I was in the market for an SKX I'd definitely be getting an 013 or 015, I think they look a lot more wearable day to day, and I think they will be more collectable as trends turn to smaller sizes as they are the only small diver Seiko has made in recent years!
Mate, I'm wearing mine currently! Love it. Going to do a sapphire swap and maybe look for a ceramic bezel insert at some point. They only weigh 115g so they are really light and comfy. Cheers!
It’s a slight difference, but the less protruding lugs on the 009 feel nicely proportional with the watch. They almost stick out the same amount on the 013 it seems. Still would love to try each of these in person to give them a fair shot though. Nice comparison video!
I think the best would be something in between. I have 7inch wrist, too. 42mm is ok, just a bit big. 38mm is ok, just a wee bit small. I think that is a shame they did not make 40mm SKX, that would be best for our size. That said, thicker wrists go for 42, and for thinner, 38 is a must, but for 7inch wrists, just go for better looking hands. SKX013 is my choice, since lolipop seconds is strange to look at night.
Interesting watch. Every time I buy a 38mm they first look like a toy to me even though I wear several 39mm dress watches. But the more I wear the 38's the better I like. Never considered a diver less than 40mm but frankly that one looks great on your wrist. Has a certain elegance about it. Thanks for the video. I always learn something.
+Jerry Hague thanks for watching and commenting! I learn something every video too. Totally agree, looked like a toy when I opened the box but after a week, really enjoying the smaller size and lighter weight. The dial is quite tight, not super legible, but minor criticism. Even quite enjoying the bracelet...
I was wondering if your preferences have changed since the review, Jody. Do you prefer the 42 mm models (007 and 009) for your wrist these days or the 013? I ask because I have a 007 myself, which looks great on my 7,25 inch wrist. But sometimes I wonder whether the 013 wouldn't be more elegant and versatile, as it could be dressed up easier...
I love Seiko and possess both of these and love them equally, although will have to admit that the 013 has a touch of class with that size and subtlety. My question to you is regarding ordering from Creation Watches, as mentioned in your video - does ordering from Creation Watches to Australia (presuming you live there) attract any taxes or import duties at all? And how long does DHL take to deliver? Does it get stuck at customs? Thanks.
I know it's a 6months old comment but a DHL delivery will 9 out of 10 attracts taxes and delivery extra costs ( the latest may vary depending on the country, so sometimes not ). To reverse the odds and get a 9 out of 10 chances to have no taxes ( note it's never 100% ) and no delivery extra cost, you must pick the standard delivery, which is Singapour postal service. Do note that this comes with no tracking as far as I know.

James Santana Agree 100%. Love the old radaly jubilee. Also think minimum size of 40mm on a 7.25 in wrist. I actually think my 007 wears like a 40mn even though it is 42.
"007" Common, You're just making Allowances for it cause you're on her Majesty's Secret Service (with a License to Kill) ... My birthday is next week and I’m buying a new watch. I’m going from a Padi Turtle (45mm) to an SKX. I really like the 013 because it’s small and compact buuuut, I wonder if it’s too small. Also the 013 is missing that legendary lollipop second hand. Which one should I get? 🤔
I tried on the SKX007 when I was buying the turtle. I’ve never tried the 013 on my wrist. I like the 007 but the turtle felt like a better purchase at the time. Most of my other divers at 40mm. I just don’t want to have to use a pair of tweezers to operate the bezel if I purchase the 013. This will be an online purchase and I know I should try it on before I buy, buuuut ya know....
My main watch is an SARB035; which I love the size and look of. I would buy a 013 now if it had the lollipop seconds hand- that's been the main sticking point for me as well.
K ROBSON I actually ended buying one. I threw a strap code oyster on it. I love the watch. That’s the one thing I love about the 013 is the second hand. My only beef would be that the crown is hard to grip because it’s so small.
I have this once. But ive sold it. The accuracy is too wide... Around 1-2 minutes faster/week. I keep on fixing the accuracy timing every week. Its a good watch though.
They should make the indices smaller on the smaller watch. Instead, they use the same size dots on both, which makes the dots on the smaller watch look a bit too big.

@@JustOneMoreWatch well it has arrived! first impression on opening the box was "Whoa! thats small!," but im sure i will get used to it quickly, would have been lovely at 40mm, but then i keep reading that watchmakers are coming out with 38mm more and more , so its nice to be "on trend" as it were
Rick Sanchez First try this trick: Tap the watch with the glass down in your palm. Not too hard, just a tad. There is usually a spring stuck behind a catch, something that more automatic timepieces suffer from. It should be solved with 1 or 2 taps, no more! And do not hit too hard! If this does not solve it, bring it to a watch repair technician.
If its running that fast it may have been magnetized. You can try getting a demagnetizer from amazon or ebay pretty cheap and see if that will fix it. If it just randomly started doing that and you never had the caseback off Id say its def worth a shot.
Sorry but I think it looks too small on your wrist and I think you know it also, can hear the disappointment in your voice. I also have a 7 inch wrist (007 owner) was thinking of a 013 but definitely giving it a miss (thanks) Might pick one up for my wife?
+Faisal Rahman hey mate! I have quickly got used to the smaller size and weight and I love the 013! New green bezel insert and sapphire glass mod vid coming soon!
Just recieved my first SKX013 (and first Seiko) It's a perfect size for me. Thanks for the videos!
The 013 looks more elegant..
Like the mustage m8, watching your new vids every time… this is legend!
Just bought the skx, this helps, thanks!

How is the timeloss-gain on this one?
I love this watch. Why can't they make this watch with different color options? Good upload!

Hi, how much does your wrist fit? My pulse measures 17 cm, what do you recommend? Thank you
Concise video, the 013, though it's actually shorter, looks like it sits taller on the wrist, nice video.
The skxo13 has gone up $300 in 2020 . Amazing . $600 CA on Amazon . I am going to flip mine .

There are some good etsy dealers selling modded sk013s with lots of good reviews
So the Creation watch seller is reputable?
Chuck an ar coated double dome sapphire crystal in it with ceramic bezel and you'll be amazed at the "look" it gives. 👍👍👍
+ashley butterworth I'll post it over to Melbourne for surgery! Not sure I could take on that mod on my own...
Just One More Watch Lol...errrrrr well I managed to get the crystal in mine but I cracked the ceramic bezel 😕😕😕😕...so maybe don't post to Melbourne 😬😬😬😬
Great video!
Side by side the two watches don't look too much different on camera, but on wrist the 013 does look smaller.
+John Donnelly yes John, feels smaller and lighter, but I'm really enjoying it!
2:40 made me sub, great video thanks
Is there a difference between skx013 and skx013k2?
hi, whats the difference between skx013 k1 and k2?
Great looking watch! Longterm update?
Soon mate! I am planning a sapphire/ceramic mod vid. Love it though, so great to wear. Just picked up a used 009 also for myself... Cheers!
fr good ol Singapore
How is the watch holding up? Do you find that it's too small?
I adore it. I've bought and sold several big skx since I bought the 013. Recommended!
Awesome!!
+ola kroken thanks!
Loved mine! I ended up with an 011, but the entire series is amazing
great review, subbed, im having this very dilemma at the moment, i too have a 7inch wrist, I wear my 14 year old skx033 at 39mm, my Orient Mako i think that about 40mm and i have a Citizen Eco Drive at 43mm decisions decisions, perhaps i should get both the 013 and the 009 and enjoy them both
You'll have no problem flipping either if you find the size isn't to your liking.

dear sir, have you any thought for modding those skx in your collection in future? i would like to see it if possible. cheers. :)
Hey mate! Definitely have a strap showcase video scheduled. Might also look at ceramic bezel and sapphire. Cheers!
can't wait to see it... :)
Anybody knows what's the dial size of the sxk013 ?
How much it weights the 009 ?
Whats the size of your wrist?
Mate do you know anyone doing mod SKX in Sydney?

Like both, but not a huge fan of the lolipop second hand.

Where can I get one in the UK from a reputable stockist with authenticity card/box? PLEASE HELP @JustOneMoreWatch
What size is your wrist?
7 inch mate!
Rubber for me on Seiko's the metal bracelets are not good quality, watch itself is a different matter of course.
Mine was normal in the beginning, but now it almost gains 30 mins a day... My only watch and basically unusable...
30 MINUTES??!! How old is it? Return or refund? You can also take the back off and regulate, but I'm not sure it will adjust 30 mins.....
Tip: buy both lol
Sorry but I think it looks too small on your wrist and I think you know it also, can hear the disappointment in your voice. I also have a 7 inch wrist (007 owner) was thinking of a 013 but definitely giving it a miss (thanks) Might pick one up for my wife?
+Faisal Rahman hey mate! I have quickly got used to the smaller size and weight and I love the 013! New green bezel insert and sapphire glass mod vid coming soon!
No don’t get it for your wife it’s too thick
013 looks way nicer and less clunky
