Sorry I have to disagree, coffee is not a good product for most to sell online. I started roasting coffee in 1997. Now retired I use to do private label roasting for hundreds of clients. Most never sold more than twenty pounds a month. There are over 10K web sites selling coffee online. Most dream about selling $300 a day. To succeed at selling coffee online you need to be a master brander like Black Rifle and Death wish coffee.. If you are good at branding, coffee can be a good product as it is a cottage industry product you can make at home with a small coffee roaster with a start up cost of a few thousand dollars or buy wholesale and repackage. Like you said it takes time and it is not easy.
I totally agree with you haha, That's exactly why for my coffee brand I focused on the BRAND identity at first before anything else. To make sure I differentiate from the crowd from the very beginning!

I plan on starting a tea business and I want my own blends. Should I have the private label company make the blend or only provide the tea and i outsource the other ingredients for the blend from somewhere else. My main issue is wanting to keep my blend something that companies don't promote on their own site as a blend but more importantly, my concern is me doing it myself due to regulations. If I am not allowed to do it at home, where can I mix the ingredients and put into packaging myself? Edit: I found the answer as to making it at home. I guess there are certain food/drink items that you can make at home and tea falls in that category. Coffee too for those looking to roast their own beans. depends on many factors each state is different in permit pricing, taxes are different, platform fees , BUT here's an average .... Selling on amazon $39.99 pro plan, sales tax is collected by them, business licenses vary but about $100 a year from your city, if your doing a commercial coffee business you have rent, light etc. that is were it gets costly, but creating a drop shipping business online where YOU are not touching anything of the product youc an do from home. You will still need insurance, business licenses, etc.

Selling 10k worth of pretty much anything isn't that hard. Its making a proper profit that's hard. 10k sales means nothing.
10k you’re probably barely breaking even, if you’re lucky with your CAC
Well it’s a start. If you can do 10k then you can scale to 20k and so on.

you could but my experience online has been that variety matters in keeping customers coming back 1-3 items "can" work but variety is better
