This video is why you are unique wrt your analysis. Great one!
Another great one, Lee. Keep it up! 💪
The new front end design may increase sales as customers upgrade to the new model. A Plaid Model 3 would be a big seller as well. Hope to see the stock up to $400 again.
Me too! I think $400 is possible with the increased sales and improved profit margins that this Highland will probably bring
Yes Yes. $400 would make me do the happy dance.
Not this year. Earnings will have to be in the $6-7 range before the stock even sniffs $400.
Is model 3 a big seller? No. So an even more expensive model 3 (plaid) will sell even less.
@@sanjayaiyar4351what are u talking about🤣
Removing the stalks to cut costs could potentially backfire in Europe as it's going to be extremely annoying and difficult to operate the turn signals in roundabouts. This works ok in the US where they mostly have intersections, but the buttons are very hard to use in roundabouts. If they go down that route, it probably won't be long before someone crashes because they failed to engage the turn signal, and there's going to be a lot of bad publicity with people claiming the car is dangerous etc...
I've tried the new S with the same capacitive turn signal buttons and they're basically impossible to use in roundabouts, as they'll keep shifting positions depending on the angle of the wheel, and will sometimes even be inverted.
I'm from Europe and I 100% agree with you.
The only way it could work without stalks is if there is steer-by-wire and variable steering ratio.
I get your point but roundabouts are a bad example as on mainland Europe no one signals on roundabouts (except me😂)
Aftermarket wheel with indicator stalks?
Hey Lee, great content as always. I think your mic is turned down, though
LEE!! Great video!! Thanks for the great information you research!! Greetings from Canada!! GIDDYUP!!
Definitely a large exaggeration to say production is the same as 2017. Shanghai has the battery pack lines designed by the former Grohman staff, circa 2019, instead of the original pack lines that failed at Giga Nevada. And Tesla constantly makes improvements to both the cars and the production lines and processes.
The above said, yes, for sure Tesla can cut a lot of costs with a refresh and make it a better car at the same time.
Everyone is assuming that highland isn’t the 25k$ next gen car/robotaxi. I think highland is the 25k car.
Thanks!
Couple yrs ago Sandy Munro asked Elon about castings for M3, Elon likened the upgrade to changing a wheel on a bus going 80mph.
(if I remember the context correctly)
I’m sure changing a wheel on a bus going 80 mph is a damn sight easier than launching a satellite into orbit!
@@jezza6575 Sure but it means significant downtime on the line which must be balanced with benefits.
So pretty easy for Tesla then!
Good video!
"High (PROFIT)land ; ) Love it.
With the costreduced M3, Tesla is ready to roll out the half price Compact, that could osbourne the old M3 completely, if M3 were still 38K$. With Compact M2 at 25K$, Refreshed M3 at 30K$ would fit in nicely, and not disturbing the bread and butter from MY and M3.
Compact will not sell for $25k. That was pre-inflation. Price will be $30k. And M3 will never sell for $30k.
@@darylfoster7944 Feel free to read Elons master plan from 2007. “Making as much money as possible is not our goal. Making the best and safest fully electric cars in the world, and lowering the price gradually, untill buying a fossile car, makes no sense at all.” Elon Musk(Dem.) 😎🇺🇦
Highland and Juniper are surely about all M3 and MY versions getting front and rear castings, the structural pack hole in the floor, the 'plastic' firewall, HW4, small interior and exterior upgrades.
Munro latest video shows the M3 and MY gain a little weight with the castings, but improve dimensional accuracy and are cheaper to produce using far less assembly floor area.
CT, MS, MX surely get the same 800V dual and tri-motor systems. Hyundai shows how, that by adding a 4th pole to a motor inverter, the battery can be charged at 800V by a 400V charge system.
With similar prices for CT and MS, similar systems are likely, with the main difference being a lack of driver instrument binnacle in the CT.
Perhaps news on giga Mexico and Shanghai expansion have gone quiet as Tesla has focused on Highland, Juniper and CT from an engineering perspective.
But Model 2 engineering work in Mexico, Shanghai and India can progress, in the form of supplier relationships and trial production line at Fremont, at a less intense level.
If this highlander is priced at 28k How much will the next generation Mexico built subcompact price at 20k?. A game changer
Makes me wonder if the Highland production process might follow the out-of-box model of the model 2...wouldn't that be something.
No, it won't
No that’s Master Plan 3, Model 3 won’t do that it needs a complete factory overhaul which won’t be worth it. The 3/Y successor will definitely do it though.
Hi, from what I hear talking to non-ev friends their biggest concern here is range anxiety. They don't really understand how driving habits can change - charge overnight on cheap home tariff where possible and use Superchargers on long runs whilst having a coffee. Removing stalks in Europe is a BAD idea and WILL lose sales. We have roundabouts as pointed out below. I think the market would appreciate a slightly cheaper but still highly spec'd car - taking existing capability away is somewhat upsetting to would be purchasers. Keep the high end kit, it's a way of differencing the Tesla Brand from the opposition which charges a fortune for 'optional accessories - like heat pumps!' Reduce the price a bit whilst maintaining profitability using Tesla's value add engineering prowess. Bigger profits by selling more. What we don't need - for both customers and investors - is a race to the bottom.
Teslas focus has been on production and the machine that makes the machine - this basically translates to reducing manufacturing costs. What we could be seeing are the fruits of all that focus. Just as legacy get to a point where they can make an EV which at least approaches a Tesla feature wise, Tesla rip the rug out from under them with cheaper cars.
Artificial general intelligence is coming! And it is happening much quicker than anyone had imagined or predicted!
Great video Lee, thank you.
Elon is trying to push the price down on mass EVs,
but at the same time keeping the margin over 20%.
Things may change, with FSD@15 k ?
I wouldn't be surprised, if prices of Tesla with FSD went down further?
Why?
Elon does follow mission statement of Tesla.
Anything that helps acceleration of sustainable energy future,
will be prioritized accordingly, IMO?
He really means that, does he?
but doing profit for further investments are helpful as well
We won't see margin improvement this year due to CT. However, production capacity at end of 2024 should be over 3 million vehicles.
Money is not meant to control people, rather it is meant to be put to work producing more money for you. You cannot build wealth without putting money in its rightful place.
My first profit grew rapidly and that has made me invest without the fear of losing, I got four of my friends that I introduce to him and they are making profits just like me..
Wow!!! I thought I was the only beneficiary of Mr Clarks trading services. His technique and strategies are the best.
BUT, Tesla might LOWER prices to just push out a TON of Highland models ?
I don't think they can increase Model 3 price if they want to maintain demand.
That’s ok, margins with lower costs of goods will save $7000
I think they will drop the price slightly, maybe to $40k in USA on launch. Given the incentives with IRA a lot of people will be able to get a Tesla fro around $30k then - they’d in Model 2 compact territory.
@@ISuperTed I also think/hope they will slightly drop the price
Elon should invest in CATL
Shanghai is a great factory, but choosing Berlin was a mistake.
Berlin is brilliant, situated in the very center of europe, as Its very expensive to transport the cars from China, to the Huge European market. Expecially when the new Berlin 2 will only produce the new compelling half price compact, designed for the narrow european roads. 😎
@@perlaursen1885Well said. Agree 100%. Never bet against Elon. Also, not wise to second guess Elon, a genuine genius.
They chose it to service the European market long term. Maybe they could have chosen another EU country but when you look at the alternatives, Germany had the most skilled workforce but the disadvantage of a bureaucratic culture. It’s a long game here due to the very established ICE industries that are fighting tooth and nail to slow EV adoption.
Why does Tesla need a model 2 if they can get the model 3 down to $25k?
Tesla only need to reduce the price down to the level required to sell their planned production volume. It’s likely to be much higher than 25K and instead Tesla will improve their profit margins. Not sure when the Model 2 will arrive but next year they may cut prices again to increase sales 50% as per their long term plan
@@mark-ge8drSo thankful as a Tesla Investor that Tesla is brilliant at making cars and setting prices to control margin and demand. No suggestions or concerns from me. Go Tesla!
Model 2 will cost 18,000$ 😎
M3 will never sell for $25k, in fact it won't get anywhere near $30k. $35k at the absolute lowest, more likely $37-38k. Compact will sell for $30k.
@@darylfoster7944why? Investor day showed how they could cut costs by 25-50%. I think there’s no model 2, it’s just the model 3
The Chinese market is cut throat. You have byd, mg, lotus, SAIC, Geeley, Wuling, getting beautiful designs from their excellent designers. Then making cars better and better at a lower and lower cost. Tesla is competing in this market innovating and learning from the Chinese competition. Now tesla will come back to the US and Europe and compete with the heavily subsidized and less efficient manufacturers there.
