Hey everyone! I am excited to share my first photography vlog from Antarctica where I share a very different style of photography than I normally do with portraits on my channel! Today I am doing a mixture of wildlife, landscape and lifestyle photography in Antarctica. For this trip, Brendan Van Son invited me to speak about portrait photography on board the floating photography conference to Antarctica with 8 other photographers. We also had the chance to explore more of Antarctica on the zodiacs to take photos. I have 2 other photography vlogs coming soon from this trip as well! I thought it would be nice to split our week long trip into 3x 10 minute vlogs.. each of them with a bucket load of photos. Let me know what you think of the images!! And if you like seeing me do a different style of photography that's not portraits!

Love the Antarctica videos. Upload as many as you have❤
Thank you!
Can't wait for part 2!!!
Yay thank you!! First I have a video about the A9III to upload, and then I will continue uploading this series :)
Hope you stayed warm in chilly Antarctica Julia ! The Penguin 🐧 & seal 🦭 photos 📸 are great ! Nice adventure 😊 !
I was a little nervous about the cold because I don't have much experience in the snow seeing as I'm from Australia and all.. but luckily all my layers kept me super warm!
Great videos, thanks for sharing and looking forward to the next one
Thanks so much!
What a great trip! Unreals pictures, thank you Julia for this vidéo. A reai dreamy destination for me, but so far away from my country !! See you❤
Thank you so much :)
I was on the same trip last year. Best experience ever. Well worth the cost.
Agreed, it was an incredible experience!
Amazing shots ♥️ Great video as ever 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Love these videos it’s amazing ❤❤❤
Thank you!
As much as I like your regular models, it was really great to see seals & penguins again!
Thank you, I'm glad! It's really exciting getting to shoot something different for me too.
What a great adventure would love to go one day
I highly recommend it!
What an incredible adventure! I appreciate how palpable your enthusiasm was - I would be the same if I got to visit Antarctica!
Thank you! I couldn't wipe the smile off my face :D
Great video nis
Love all the images 🩵
Thank you so much 🥰
I like your trip & pictures really beautiful ,we're waiting your review for FujiFilm X100vi
Thank you! I still haven't been able to borrow it, it's in high demand! But I will make a video as soon as I get it :)
love the video , more please.....
Thank you!! 2 more to come :D
How did you edit your profile picture background!?
When filming videos of the wildlife how do you switch between video and photo settings or do you have two bodies? Or does the photo mode switch on the A7IV allow you to do that settings switch easily?
I had 2 bodies on me that I would use for photo and video separately as much as I could. Sometimes I couldn't switch out the lenses due to snow/rain/conditions/not having enough hands so I would use my A7IV photo body which normally had my long lenses on it and switched it over to video mode to capture shots like that instead. And yes the A7IV is super easy to switch between photo and video, your camera settings are different between the 2 modes.
This is one of my dreams! I hope I can make it someday ☺
I hope so too, it's a special place!
Had a quick question when you brought up your kit.... Looking into tele converters - 1.4x vs 2.0x? Any pros and cons to either?
Both the teleconverters are generally pretty good, but I will say it's better to use them with a very sharp lens as they will make you lose a little bit of sharpness on your images. Aside from that, I really enjoy having it on hand! The autofocus still works incredible well with it on, to me I don't feel a difference in performance.
This is amazing Julia. Thanks so much for sharing. Looking forwarding to part 2.👌
Thank you so much!

I think the hotel you stayed in, in Argentina was the one Top Gear stayed in when they were chased out of that town years ago because of Jeremy Clarkson's car 😅 I recognise the decor 😂
Oh no way!! That's pretty cool!
Super exciting! So jelly!!!
Hi Julia, what travel company did you go with and have you thought about Pantagonia?!
What is the name of the great orange-coloured photo backpack? 😍😍😍
I'm officially on a TH-cam video! (@1:10) Thank you Julia 😊!
It was so nice to meet you!
@@juliatrotti ❤️ Coincidentally, I've met Rachelle (Talibard) and Victoria (Courtney) on Sunday during the Birmingham photo show. It was nice to talk about Antarctica and more :)
Sydney -> LA -> Texas -> Buenos Aires -> Ushuaia? Brutal travel.
When you introduced your room and began jumping up and down, that was pure joy.
Hope to visit Antarctica one day.
It was absolutely brutal and I had to do the same thing on the way back 😭 usually there is a much easier flight from Syd to Chile to Argentina, but it wasn't available at that time post covid unfortunately. I highly recommend you go if you ever get the chance!
@JuliaTrotti Aww. I loved seeing your penguimodels, especially the cute baby micropenguimodel! You've got me thinking about which lenses I would take. I'm a bit torn, but maybe the 135 1.8 GM and 35 1.4 GM? Was it possible (or safe for your camera) to change lenses while you were on the zodiac? The sea lions look so happy and blissful sleeping there. I'll bet that when they woke up, they went out for sushi!
Was there anything that you didn't have with you that you wished you had taken...like an ND filter or circular polarizer or a different lens or body? I'm really looking forward to the next video from there. :)
Thank you! Yes you can change your lens on the zodiacs just fine as most of the time conditions were calm. There was only 2 times where we had really rough conditions heading back to the ship with really choppy water. The expedition team let us know though so we could all put our gear away safely! I think in terms of gear I brought along way more than I needed lol better to be over-prepared I think! I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything from my kit. Maybe a high resolution camera would have been nice, like the A7RV. But in saying that, I managed to still grab some great frames on my A7IV even when I did some significant cropping :)
Slay Julia! You damn gorgeous! More girls and gays of photographers and Filmmakers. Nicely to meet you, Hi I'm Yusaku, new asian subscriber
Very nice and beautifull photo yr..really amazing ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much 😀
@@juliatrotti you are most welcome friend 🙏🙏❤️❤️
More penguins Julia! hehe
I couldn't get enough of them! I could stare at them all day haha
Hi Julia! Great video as always, one question, how do stabilize your video with the a7siii? I have an a7iii and the stabilization sucks haha
Thank you! Sony have been improving their ibis with every camera release since the A7III. The A7sIII doesn't have the BEST ibis, but it does work well enough. I was using Active SteadShot and the lenses I am using have stabilisation too. I then also did some stabilising in post especially of the wildlife slowmo shots!
Oh okay! That explains a lot haha thank you so much :)@@juliatrotti
Amo os seus vídeos ❤
Thank you!
Texas, woot!
Hi y’all from Texas here. 🎉
I wish I could have spent some time there, I want to go back one day and do that!
@@juliatrotti After seeing so many of your travels over the years, I anticipate you'll be quite unimpressed with us, haha! ;)
Julia do you use an ND filter always on your camera
I usually only use ND filters for video!
@@juliatrotti in that case how do you protect the lenses
@@shaheenkdr for portraits I usually use UV filters and for landscape I use polarising filters
🎉🎉
How come that you shooting wildlife?
Haven't watched the video yet but I gotta say, that thumbnail looks amazing. (got me clicking haha)
Thank you!! A little different for me to be photographing birds so I had to get it in the thumbnail haha
Did the camera functioned well in the cold? How cold it was? DID THE BATTERY LASTED NORMAL?
Deep breaths now! :) Pro grade camera gear works very well in the cold. Ofcourse the batteries will deplete quicker, but generally I've found it to be quite negligible during my work in Greenland.
Mainly you need to be aware of how you heat your gear back up again to avoid too much condensation inside the gear. My advise is to leave it inside your bags when bringing it inside, so that it warms up slower.
thank you
@@Laudrengen
Yes my cameras did function well in the cold and I had no problems with them. They were often wet from the rain/snow as well and were still fine! And the batteries did drain faster than usual, but nothing super crazy. I would keep spare batteries in a pocket on my jacket so they could be warm when I put them back into the camera :D
thank you@@juliatrotti
1:32 yay we will see penglings 🐧
