    Hey everyone! Today I have a hands-on video with the new Sony A9III for photography and video. I am using 3 main lenses with the camera: 70-200mm f2.8 GMII, 300mm f2.8 GM and 35mm f1.4 GM. Thank you to Sony Australia for putting on this event and inviting me! I thought it would be good to put this camera through it's paces with a faster paced environment than my usual portrait sessions to really see what it can handle. I share the autofocus performance and accuracy, share with you the image quality, I have heaps of 100FPS video footage to share with you and of course a low light test with photos at every single ISO. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!!
    This video is NOT sponsored. Sony don't ask me to say anything, don't expect this video from me and don't watch this video before I post it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

    Yes! I'm in love with the a9iii just like how I was in love with the a9 when first released back in 2017. The new technology is bring to the Mirrorless world is astounding. I have gone 100% E-shutter now and this GS sensor will help eliminated the 3 biggest pet peeves for me which are Distortion, Banding and Jello effects. Even though I can't afford the a9iii right now, i do hope that it comes to the future a7V, a7RVI and FX3-ii so that I can pick up those cameras. Great a9iii review Julia!

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much! I am also interested to see which cameras Sony decide to include a global sensor. Will they just keep it for their high end series like the A1/A9? Or will they start to introduce it to more prosumer cameras like the A7V series.. I wonder!

    • @harryvuemedia5106
      @harryvuemedia5106 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@juliatrotti You're welcome! I think Sony's roadmap is to make all of their cameras have Global Shutter sensors now. How do you top the current models and give people reasons to upgrade? Adding a Global Shutter to the next-gen cameras! a7iv, a7Rv, FX3, a9-ii, a6700 and a1 are all the perfect Rolling Shutter cameras. Since they all have been perfected, what else more can you do to them for the next model if you keep the Rolling Shutter? You can add more button features and a tilt/flip lcd screen for the A1-ii but that won't be enough to warrant an upgrade. So it has to be Global Shutter sensors now.
      Sony going with Global Shutter sensors will keep them at the top of their games and keep their #1 position as well. I do think all Alpha cameras with GS sensors will have price increases. A7iv is $2,500 usd so future a7v will be $3,000 usd. A7RV is $3,900 usd so future a7RVI will be $4,500 usd. And A1 is $6,500 usd so future A1-ii will be $8,000 usd. And im sure their will be others like me who are willing to pay that price for quality images and videos now.

    Great review on this camera and I’ve only had it about a week so far, love it. The auto focus has to be experienced to be believed. This is the first camera I have absolute confidence in the auto focus. The Dynamic Active Stabilization is also quite good. I think the initial concerns of dynamic range were overblown. Comparing side-by-side with my Fujifilm XH2S canon Eos R3, I think the dynamic range from the Sony is at least on par and perhaps a little better. More importantly, the exposure latitude appears to be considerably better on the Sony.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! Yep, dynamic range in photo is perfectly usable, I overexposed some of the golf shots a little in the morning to see what I could do with them later and was able to recover all the details in the highlights.

    Hi, @JuliaTrotti! I've seen a lot of reviews of this camera. Yours is the best. You had asked about why the continuous shooting speed is lower for Low-High than for High+. This is true on the A1 as well. I think that the reason is that the cameras likely do not have the bandwidth to read a full resolution, uncompressed photo off the sensor and transfer it to memory, or possibly to process it on the camera's CPU. If I remember correctly, Hi+ may force you into shooting Compressed Raw, or something to that effect. On the A1, I've also experienced a drop in continuous focus tracking accuracy in Hi+ compared to the other modes. This rarely causes an issue, at least for me, since even on Medium, I can shoot fast enough to capture fire dancers performing or people running. If you still have access to an A9III, check the file sizes and image quality between H and H+. If you remind me, I'll try to get a more definitive answer for you, but I think that was roughly the correct explanation. Did you run into Mark Galer there? He's a Sony Imaging Ambassador who does really amazing TH-cam videos on different Sony bodies and lenses, and almost always uses examples of the sort of surfer shots that you were shooting - though not ones with golf sticks. I am not sure if being a Sony Imaging Ambassador confers any sort of diplomatic immunity when visiting the lands of Canon, Nikon, and Fuji...

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very interesting! Thanks for the explanation, next time I see Sony I will ask them about it too and see what they also say. And yes I know Mark Galer! We sat together at the dinner we had afterwards, he is great and I definitely look up to his work :)

    I'm in love with Canon using R6 for sports (motocross/supermoto), it's so good. The sensor readout speed is excellent considering it's not a stacked sensor compared like to my ex A7III. Although I do photography for passion, I want the best gear I can buy. This A9III is extraordinary, but no way I can get one. I would get back to Sony just for the amount of lenses you can get. As you know the good glass is good glass. A7r5 and A7IV are pretty slow for sports. A1 to expensive, A9II + FX30 combo? Maybe

    So just to clarify: you had NO overheating in 4k 60 fps in 38 degree celsius (100F) weather, and in 4k 100 fps overheating only happened after 20 minutes?
    This is an incredible result for a camera with no inbuilt fan. And for longer shoots you can just add an external fan for extra safety.

    • @juliatrotti
      @juliatrotti  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I did the overheating tests on a different day so I could properly time it and keep notes on my tests. It was around 30 celcius on the day I did this overheating test. But yes, no overheating symbol or anything in 4K 50/60p, it would just keep recording without an issue. But the camera would give me the warning and shutdown eventually at 100/120p.

      Oh yes, today's mirrorless cameras allows everyone to take great pictures. But everyone still needs to know what their doing to take great pictures. I've seen people skills that cannot keep up with the cameras. For me, mirrorless helps me capture those perfect moments. There are times where I only have split seconds to capture those moments thus having a sticky Eye-AF, Face recognition, and Burst speed helps me achieve that.
