- Today we take a look at syncreon Automotive (UK) Ltd, Minworth, Sutton Coldfield B76 9EH.
Upon arrival we notice an open gate which we ask a member of staff about.
This isn't recieved very well so they call for backup before the drone goes up.
We are then spoken to by the Big Boss who is also a Drone Flyer.

When she said to the police call handler “DJ Audits is here filming…” you know the response she got, boiled down to “tough, we wont be sending anyone.”

I cannot figure out some people's attitude to one person filming compared to hundreds of cameras everywhere doing just the same, including facial recognition applications, which is far more sinister than an auditor posting on TH-cam.

Hell, in this case, you had a fellow drone pilot who claimed to know the law, THEN you showed him the law, and STILL his 'opinion' kicked in and took over. I used to work with ladies like this. They would call and say that there was someone across the street aiming a camera at the building (sometimes legacy media types) and they would ask me to go and get the images/recording deleted. I would laugh and ask how do they expect me to get images taken in public deleted? This was right outside the head quarters of our defense force, too (which was across the street to our building). These people have an entitlement issue, and no understanding of law or what it means to be in public.
You dealt with this situation incredibly well. Zero aggression. Assertive yes, but no aggression. And as for harassment? Whoa Buddy!

I actually used to work security at a similar sort of establishment... what these companies often forget or choose to ignore is that you're legally allowed to film anything you can see from a public space.
Whenever I was asked to "deal" with someone filming from the public footpath or highway outside, I would introduce myself to the person filming, let them know that I wasn't going to stop them but I would politely ask them to confirm that it wasn't for nefarious reasons (pre break in recon or terrorism etc).
99% of the people I ever spoke to were happy with that, confirmed that it was just for a video blogging or TH-cam and that was the end of it.
I never saw footage of me turn up on TH-cam... why?
Because I didn't cause a scene.
DJ... keep doing what you do. You're amongst the very few that actually do this correctly, without causing situations to escalate and people potentially losing their temper and their jobs.
I don't think you were aggressive in any way and, ultimately, if they had left you alone then there wouldn't have been all that BS and they wouldn't have made themselves look foolish.

GDPR does apply to the public, except where the data is 'for household purposes'. Saying it doesn't apply to a member of the public is a myth.

The beginning was honestly embarrassing and unnecessary. But the rest of the video is fine.
I love it when she says she doesn't want to know. She might as well stick her fingers in her ears and shout "la la, la la, I can't hear you." She doesn't want to know because you obviously know way more than her about the law and she doesn't want to be embarrassed infront of he colleague. Priceless. And, lastly does she ever shut up.
THAT is a perdect example of somebody being passive agressive. Making demands and barking orders, then refusing to lisren to reason, in an ATTEMPT to get a rise out of her combatant, is a perfect definition of passive agressiveness.
Why companies can’t ever just use this type of interaction as a positive and learning experience baffles me, and the idiots that try and act like they have any authority make me laugh if they want to give order then they should join the army.
