I’m 25 and my mom still does a version of cute holiday things that she did when we were kids when my brother and I go home to visit for holidays! Never stop doing the little things, they will forever stick with them ❤
When my son was little we would bdays at the park/playground. But one year we had an awesome costume party, i think he was 6yrs old- I sent the kids outside the backyard and I had set up stations, with indoor and outdoor toys. So swing set, tunnels, rocking horse, dance party, etc… the kids had tons of fun. My son was sheriff woody and I was Jessy from Toy Story. It was awesome because his best friend came as buzz light year. I had my fav babysitters come and help with the party. Everyone was happy!
I remember going to a “spa” birthday themed party in elementary school for my best friend. I STILL remember it now at 33 years old! We got to do face masks, sit in her grandparents spa and drink Shirley temples out of “fancy” glasses. After we got out of the hot tub we wore robes and ate ice cream lol. I felt like SUCH an adult! Such a fun memory ❤

It was a great party! Kids don’t care about every single party detail. Give yourself Grace, Mom! My son just turned 31 and lives out of state. But we still send cards and gifts for every occasion! He comes home for the holidays and we still do all the traditions from his childhood. He still bakes cookies and makes appetizers with Mom. Enjoy your babies!
Keep Making those Beautiful Memories! My daughter's do this now for the family. I really only have to cook ( I Love it) To see them plan and set up for gatherings it's so special. These Memories will stick and they love adding new style to my old creations. They are in early twenties in college. I have 3 out of 5 still at home. The other two still do their part when planning. 🎉 Don't stress and know they will remember!
My kids are 18,16,13 and I still do all the mom traditions! The kids love it❤
I'll be honest, I have 3 boys (now young men) 23,25 and 30 and they still love all the decorating and special little gifts or texts. It's tradition that will be carried on!!!

Great job! It’s hard to pull things together when the “forces” feel against you! A few fun parties that we’ve done for our kids…
1) A Storybook Birthday - all kids come with their favorite book or dressed as their favorite character. It’s super easy to turn a couple stacked sheet cakes into an “open book” cake. Serve sandwiches “books” & chips. Have someone read aloud to the kids, give info to ur local library’s reading program or cards in their goody bag with DIY bookmarks craft.
2) A Parisian Tea- all girls come in a party dress, received feather boas, sunglasses and hat. Serve a charcuterie of fun foods. Pink, black & white - mixed patterns…create jewelry craft, SUPER cute!
3) Food Fight- all kids dress for the mess and get goggles, hat and t-shirt (decorate for craft). Kids r invited to bring a canned good for local food pantry. (Later the birthday child & any friends gets to deliver the food to learn about the food pantry.) After, the food fight, kids get rinsed off by the hose (or pool) and wear their t-shirt home. I can share invites to all parties, too.😊
Also… we always took “surprise” vacays / staycays with the kids. They NEVER knew what we were doing next. The best part was, it was “off screen” and they lived in-the-present, rather than what happened next. This way, if we don’t get to a planned activity b/c we were busy having fun, it’s not missed. We began doing this when our kids were 4 & 9…they r 19 & 23 and they STILL like doing this! Near or far it doesn’t matter where we are. We’re making wonderful memories together. Lauren you are such a good mom! Your kids will remember all of the sweet gestures big or small....the more free-wheeling it is the more I think they like it! I am like you however, and like a plan and can stress a little too much. One year my sister and I did a make your own TIE-DYE party for my niece and the girls loved it! We did retro snacks and food and played groovy music by the pool!

For my daughters 5th she had a petite suites girls and dolls party. We had a bell tent set up as a pamper party inside with boho festive lights, floor pillows, pink and an American girl doll for every guest -she was in a robe with slippers, and each girl chose from a doll closet an outfit, accessories and did their hair and signed an adoption cert. they spent tent time making up the dolls and each other, a
Makeup studio and treats finished off with a dance party and dJ who Lead Kareoke with them. It was wonderful!
Another party that was super memorable- we went to the zoo! My so was 4, it was a free zoo in our area, geared for kids. We made cupcakes the night before, zoo animals- lion, monkeys and elephants! Oh they were soo fun! But seriously had a team of 4 making these…took way too much time!!!! You would think I was catering a wedding… one of the best parties we did!
Once he turned 8 we did bday experiences!! And that was a great change !! But little kid parties are awesome!!
The party set up looked great and am sure it was a super great party the kids will remember.but I totally get it- planning, set up, party itself and clean up it is a lot. No matter how. I I prepare- it still seems like you are scrambling. And you having to go into work that morning- extra crazy.but you pulled it off and filmed it! Amazing.
I have 5 kids and I love to make it special. And here in Hawaii it is the kids and families that come so food overboard- so I usually have trays of our local foods. And is hours and hours- most of the afternoon and into late evening.

I had my 1st son on my husband's B-Day and my 2nd son was born on my B-Day. Extremely unusual! Being said we always had a huge party, but, mainly it was child ordinated. We did do themes. One restaurant gave free meals for birthdays. So my husband would take one child on theirs, and I would take the other ours. The staff was always surprised and would tell me of the other time a father & son came in on their birthdays. They couldn't believe it when I told them it was my husband! We also took the boy's birth certificates. When my oldest son was 13 we adopted a 5 wk old baby girl from Peru, she was born on our wedding anniversary! More weird & strange. The odds of that are?

I think you did a great job on getting things done for the party. I know that I would-be panicking . I like to plan things in advance. Theme, the food and how many people to invite. My first grandsons first birthday theme was from the book "Where the wild things are " and my second grandsons first birthday theme was just based on the red and black plaid with the bears also alot was from my Christmas decor just had to do the banner and plan it out and for my granddaughters first birthday was a bumblebee themed which came out great. Did all the decorations and even her smash cake that was shaped as a bee. All good. Love watching your channel and love how your children are wanting you to keep doing those special things
My two adult sons still love coming to our house and craft/ bake for the holidays, specially Halloween. They both bring their girlfriends and we have a great time. I’m sure your kids will continue the traditions with their families.

yes doing parties is so much fun but it is so hard.i know I have one daughter but she always seems to pick the themes that you have to deal with.her last birthday party was stranger things so that took some doing.and I had four girls here but luckily we had a pool up so that helped my daughter will be 12 this year so I know what you mean about kids getting older.one of these years they are gonna do birthdays on their own.But that's why we have to enjoy what we have now

My kids are adults now and never really wanted a themed party and still don’t like anything other than Mom making their favorite meal and cake.
I, on the other hand, am all about themed parties and throw my own birthday parties. I’ve had a rodeo themed birthday where I rented a mechanical bull for the backyard; a disco party with a tented dance floor in the backyard complete with a spinning disco ball, lava lamps on bar height tables and Village People hats to wear when we did the YMCA; a sock hop with a 50s diner and dance floor with a jukebox for doing the Stroll and twist and hula hoop contests; a board game party with food and games set up all all over the house, everyone was assigned a color that matched seats at each game table and every 30 minutes they had to move to a new game.
Next month I’m celebrating my 70th birthday with a Wizard of Oz party (my favorite movie since I was a child). Of course I dress up for each themed party so I’ve already bought my Dorothy costume complete with Toto in a basket. I have also bought yellow brick runners and poppies for the front sidewalk, Emerald City backdrops, the characters’ standees, and gifts from the wizard. I’m making a tornado with gray balloons and chicken coop wire. I even have a horse of a different color - one of my Christmas reindeer minus his antlers with lights strung all over his body that change color every couple of minutes. The only thing I want but couldn’t get was a real hot air balloon. I thought it would be fun for everyone to take a quick ride over the neighborhood but local authorities and the nearby airport (and my husband) said Nope.

And I have to tell Olivia on TH-cam and Lauren. I was always I'm an only child and when I was young. I was felt the same way everybody else. I never liked to open presents in front of people and even though I'm 59 I still don't like opening presents in front of people. I'm scared I always thought they would be looking at me and wondering if I like it or didn't like it. It's kind of uncomfortable feeling.😂❤
What a fun party! Growing up in the 60's, we had simple birthday parties, usually cake, ice cream, birthday hats, pin the tail on the donkey and little candy gift bags. But, it always felt special and so much fun. I love the way your re-created that, but updated for this generation, by doing this party at home, instead of some big affair somewhere. The craft table, the decorating and the cupcakes, simple, but so much fun!! Your kids are very lucky to have you for a mom. 💗
