1. Find a form of resistance training that you enjoy
2. Find a form of cardio you enjoy
3. Do both a few times a week
4. Increase your daily steps and activity
5. Witness the gains!!
So spot on!!!
I'm a nurse. I use cardio for health and stamina. I do resistance training for the strength. I need both to be able to do CPR and to transfer patients that are usually twice my size.
Obesity epidemic patients.
@@MostAlpha Obesity is largely related to chronic diseases, so a little empathy goes a long way. It's 2024, this train of thought is archaic.
@@primrosed2338 Obesity is a function of metabolic damage. Keep insulin low, spikes to a minimum and do not follow any recommended nutritional advice.
@@MostAlphasadly it isn’t just patients. A lot of healthcare staff are obese too! Where I work it’s a majority.
I used to do a ton of cardio, almost two hours a day. Once I entered menopause, that was no longer feasible for me. I started strength training about two years ago. I have never looked or felt better. I am my best me at 54 !
Just gonna be honest, when I first saw a thumbnail of these three guys on my suggestions I was like,”oh brother another misogynistic meat head process”, and man was I surprised. This is the ONLY podcast I will listen to and I have learned SO much in a matter of weeks. Thanks y’all.
I'm 56 been running from the weight and wanting a better body my entire life! I've started eating the correct protein slowly adding weight training to my routine and not killing myself with the crazy workouts man! I feel so much better! Looking forward to making big changes even at my age❤
I just started personal training about a year ago, and this podcast has flipped everything I knew about personal training. I went from barely knowing what to do to help clients to being confident that I can help almost anybody. I get a tremendous amount of value from the free stuff y’all put out. I am 20 years old moved out and paying for massive amounts of protein, but as soon as I can afford it , I am looking forward to buying all the maps courses and seeing how that adds even more value to training others and even my own training. Thank you mind pump for providing so much value ‼️
This came at the perfect time. I'm just starting a 12 week rotation with very little cardio. I was considering adding in extra cardio. I needed this reminder!!
These guys are practically poets with all the different metabolic metaphors they've come up with over all of these episodes. I like it.
As a cardio addicted for years and years due to my body image complexe this episode and you podcast in general is the best weapon for me to kill my bad behaviors around fitness and nutrition and be on the right pathwa, although it took too long... gratefull to be a fidel listener of MindPump!
Because of you guys I’ve completely changed my life and mindset for the better. I’ve changed my diet to whole natural foods, stopped the obsessive cardio and started weight training consistently. My strength has increased even though my weight has been the same for the past 2 months. The old me would’ve assumed that the training isn’t working and stopped, but now I’m more educated and know that I’m on the right track. My only regret is that I wish I’d found you guys sooner!
I feel that 2 my bench has went from 225 to 275 in last 3 months and I see my arms and chest tightening up but the weight hasn’t changed more then 5-8 pounds that bounce up and down. Keep going bro we got this.
So glad this episode came out. As someone who is currently struggling with the bombardment of fitness advice and still overweight this episode was a must! I need stamina as a school teacher but I also want to be strong. Thank you!
This is one of those episodes that I will be recommending that people listen to for years to come.
This episode was wonderful. I've been working hard to get rid of the mentality that cardio is necessary for weight loss. I strength train 3 days a week and do a 15-20 minute HIIT circuit 2 days a week with stretching afterwards. Walking is my go to everyday just to stay active and keep a clear mind. Love your channel!!
So, Im 59 years old and Ive been a personal Trainer since 2009. With that said, I love learning and growing to be able to help more people. So, to be able to have a bundle would be awesome !!! Thanks you guys for all you do
Thank you for another fantastic episode! As someone who relied on cardio for most of my life and recently transitioned to strength training, this episode on how to incorporate cardio effectively was truly invaluable.
My cardio of choice is jumping rope, and I do it for 20-30 min 5-6 days per week. But I've never done it for fat loss purposes.
It's more for heart health, vo2 max, and to stay conditioned for lifting intensity. Also, it's such a great way to start the day right out of bed with full body circulation.
Aside from that, I love outdoor walking on a daily basis just to be generally active and get some extra sun. It's great for health/wellness.
Been following your guys advice with resistance training and a good clean diet, I’m down 43 pounds since June 1st! Love all the insight from the three of you, it’s really invaluable. A big thanks!! 🤘🏼
Wow! What was your starting weight?
@@sanjam11 Starting was 298 and I’m at 252 currently :-)
I used to love doing cardio, but since finding this show I've learnt to do strength training to improve my mind and body and do cardio for fun, not to punish myself
Been listening to you guys religiously every day. A lot of my friends are trying to lose weight by cutting calories and abusing cardio and I keep sending them your videos to make them change their approach to it. Thanks for all the content !
School teacher here, just starting school and getting back into a routine at the gym. Would LOVE the Super Bundle. Thanks a bunch for all the episodes, content and free advice, Mind Pump rocks!!
Thank you for making this episode! I was definitely that girl on low cal doing lots of cardio for the wrong reasons! I still see a lot of people at the gym over doing cardio, so hopefully it reaches more people!
I have been a lean athletic build me entire life and have been a hard gainer when I have attempted various self employed resistance routines. I am now 37 years old and had accepted my "skinny" body. I started watching 6 months ago and you guys have given me the direction, hope and purpose needed to re-motivative with resistance training. The health benefits of muscle is something I want for myself but as well for my three kids and wife. I have been a avid mountain biker / cycler for most of my life, my VO2 max is around a 54 these days. I have temporarily pulled back on riding and spend that additional time focusing on the gym. I am looking forward to my next journey of a new healthier physique. My end goal is to maintain a 180lb(20 lbs increase, I am 6'2") muscular physique and get back to my passion of riding. Thanks to you all!
You guys are incredible. I'm so grateful I came across you. I'm a fitness professional from Kenya and I'm taking in everything that I can from you guys because I want to do this the right way coz I don't wanna mess people up so thank you!
Perfect timing! I’m in a 90 day transformation challenge. So many people (Facebook community) are going crazy with the cardio. I was on the fence. Thanks for this video! And…I hope I win your bundle! After my transformation challenge I will need a new training/weightlifting plan! 🙌🏻😃
I've recently discovered you guys and am floored every day by all of the new information I've been learning. I've been cardio'ing my ass off and have not been getting the right results! So thank you for this awesome insight! I'm going to buy one of your bundles and get cracking at the gym with some walking and HIIT mixed in!
13:50 “Muscle is the side effect of strength” So spot on. All these enhanced TH-camrs have confused people into thinking they can just do isolation lifts, cables, etc at a high volume and jet jacked out of their mind, but natural lifters have to build that base of strength before they can really pack on muscle anyway.
Another morning another Mindpump podcast 🏋️🫡
I was just about to plow through your videos in search for information on ‘safe’ cardio that won’t hinder gains and here I see your latest episode! 🤯 Thank you! 🙏
Glad to hear this episode- I completely changed my workouts because of you guys, but I do want to be able to train cardio again at some point once I lose the weight! Thanks for all the info as always!
Thanks to you Guys, my husband and i finally got out of these IF, HIIT circuit and where able to gain a lot of strenght, Look and feel healthier, learn everyday something New from your incredible knowledge! Thank you for you impact on our lives, keep going!
I’m a new subscriber and I actually sold my elliptical a few days ago because I’ve been listening to y’all’s podcasts for a week now. I’ve increased my protein intake and started tracking my calories too. Thank you for this!
I can't tell you how much I've learned from you all. This video should be played to all teenagers at schools in health class. Priceless.
Thank you for that!!!
Thank you for this episode. As a newbie to strength training I'm still trying to grasp this concept, and this was a great explanation.
What a great episode!!! I have been trying to lose some weight for the last couple of months and started doing some strength exercises but I like cardio and wanted to incorporate both… thank you guys 🙏🏽
This episode hit home with me right when I needed it. Mind Pump is always on point! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Sharing this with my squad. Thanks to your advice I've slowed down my workouts and rest more between sets. Definitely getting stronger and feel good!
Been listening to you guys for years! I am glad this episode came out because I think this is important info to have. Thanks guys keep it up!
You guy always drop in the best timing, I tried high reps and sets and was getting tired in the 3rd set. I really need to add a little bit of cardio in my routine!
Wow! You guys are on it with new material faster than I can watch ! Love it ❤ thank you guys!!!!
It is the most amazing message on how our bodies work and SO TRUE!
I’ve been lifting for 33 years, but I’ve been doing cardio for 42! I’m currently in the throes of the longest I’ve ever gone without cardio because #mindpump. 😉 I miss the endorphins, but I don’t miss the time it takes!
I really appreciate this episode, as someone who is on a journey to lose 75+ lbs to hopefully start a family with my husband (and who has battled being overweight their entire life) I’m constantly fighting the temptation to go all in on cardio because that’s what gave me ‘quicker results’ in the past. But honestly I enjoy lifting weights way more anyways, and this episode gave me some relief from that pressure and to keep my focus on strength. I still want to improve my health overall though so knowing how to program some HIIT and more steps in to help my heart and endurance is so helpful. Grateful to mind pump!
Winner Winner! Please email Ann ann@mindpumpmedia.com with a screenshot of your youtube username, winning episode number, and the email address you would like the program under and we will get you hooked up!
@@MindPumpShowWow! Thank you SO much!! 🙏🏼
Thank you for this, exactly what I needed.❤️
Another great show men! I have so many friends I need to share this video with because they just don’t understand. Love the show and your programs guys! Keep up the good work
I’m a runner and love to run 2-5mi distances. Run every other day. I have muscle and fat 5’9 207lb 9min mi. When I dropped my cals to 2200, on top of getting 10k steps, doing calisthenics then running 2mi. I noticed I started to binge eat every Wednesday, just buy a box of pizza, burgers, sweets whatever. I upped my cals to 2700 started strength/strong man training and noticed I stopped binge eating. I just started this program this month, plan on doing it for 4months, can’t wait to see how it will effect my body.
Studying to be a PT and help others achieve their fitness goals. Loving your show!
It's like you guys read my mind!!
Looks like I'm buying another program!
One more step on Mind Pump's journey against the myth of doing lots of cardio for weight loss. So elucidating. Thanks guys!
I enjoy doing layered cardio for that extra sweat and usually do that in place of sauna treatment, but I utilized it more when I was a lot heavier, but I was usually on the arc trainer or elliptical. It definitely aids in the stamina department, all about our relationship to it and not super dependent on it for one specific goal.
I'm 20 minutes in this video... And nothing has been said yet...
Thanks lol
Great episode been watching this podcast every single day of the week! Makes my days every day! You always need outside advice even if you are a coach your self.
Love this episode! Was waiting for you guys to have a balanced discussion on cardio 💯
I have been training for a half marathon since last winter. I never once NOT put my weight sessions first before any run time. My body, aesthetic wise, has never looked better and my endurance and strength have both drastically increased.
Thank you for this episode! Great info!
Super (as in bundle)😊refresher course for trainers like myself helping clients understand the “why” in their programming.
I am so greatful to you for your divine guidance. I AM 59 Y R OLD FEMALE I LOVE DOING WORK OUT BUT I HATE CARDIO .I DO STRENGTH BY DOING BODYWEIGHT ^ I DO YOGA.I love eating I don't count calories but still I have maintain my body weight 64kg but I don't look obese
Great episode and love all the amazing knowledge and information you provide to all the listeners.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your podcast so sooooo much!!
Just found you guys via another podcast …. Back at the start of a weight loss/weight training and enjoying the advice and motivation 👍
I appreciate you guys, but this may confuse people. Cardio does burn fat. It’s really about how much someone does that will determine if the body turn catabolic and starts to consume muscle for energy. Diet timing and exercise duration are critical factors.
I love the advice you guys give. It really helps put a lot into perspective!
Was just getting ready to add some cardio to my programming with the weather getting right. Glad to have some guidance on how to do it correctly.
I do a circuit style strength training routine where I am always pushing myself on every exercise (strength) and keeping my heart rate up (cardio)
I remember a study when they saw what the body actually did in a calorie deficit. The people would perform house chores less frequently and just sit by the tv, not shaking their legs etc to compensate for the calorie loss.
Can totally relate to this. Ive been doing supersets using strength and resistance paired with an erg machine. Quick short bursts for last 3 months. Got weighed yday and I'd lost 6kg, 5kg of it fat and 1kg muscle
You guys are amazing! I would appreciate if you share the studies you are talking about!
Thank you very much! I learned so much from you!!
I needed to hear this!! Thanks guys!
This episode is timely. Starting to program in cardio more in between my lifting days. Great information.
🎉🎉🎉thank you! This is what I ordered! I am a coach and I am planning a coaching plan for brides to be in their optimal health by their wedding. And I know (even before I even launch my program) that I will have some cardiobunnies who I need to convert to just building muscle 💪 thank you guys 🎉🎉🎉
I absolutely needed to hear this today! My mindset on cardio for fat loss is changing!! ❤️
I didn't want to drop a comment before I finished listening. I am always in this dilemma if to invest my time in Cardio if I have time to exercise... I have been working with other trainers that recommend 3-4 times a week 30-45 minutes zone to cardio in addition to 4 times a week weight training
Hey guys, with the increase in popularity of the hybrid athlete, wanted to know if you plan to bring anyone on the show who has experience doing that type of program. I've been someone who loves cardio their whole life and have just started lifting weights consistently watching you'll. To get a better insight into how people actually do this hybrid program with your inputs would be amazing! Love from India, you guys are the best fitness podcast out there!
as an asian based in asia, you guys are a lifesaver because over here we still tend to believe in older fitness myths. thanks guys!
Excellent video and thanks for the knowledge
great video, well informed, thanks guys
Thank you guys for sharing this ❤❤❤
I listen to every single episode and love every one of them, they’re golden! But this one may have just become my favourite. Being a woman this is a common trap and your timing of this episode drop is perfect for where I’m at. Currently the number on the scale is the heaviest I’ve been however I can clearly see much more definition than ever before thanks to implementing all your advice. All thats left is to pair it up with one of your programs, I can just imagine the results being out of this world! Thanks for the valuable content guys
Been wanting to get on one of the programs! Great video and as always great info!
Great fuggin episode! I have been on hiatus from you guys for a while now (consumed in other life matters) and this is great refresher into your guys philosophy of training. And I’m a runner! Ran half marathons, 10ks and 5ks, but just for fun, knowing full well that it wouldn’t really help me build muscle. But just for kicks, but I still lift. This was a great discussion, I love and am enchanted by the dialogue 👍🏽🔥🤘🏽
am loving LMNT!! thanks guys!!
Throwing my hat in for the bundle, been doing the same thing for decades need HELP PLEASE 🙏
Wish I had heard this 6 months ago. I lost 40 lbs since April using tons of cardio and dieting. But now I'm a string bean with a bit of stomach fat, melted away all my muscles. So now I'm lifting and bulking to try and get my muscle back. I sure did this backwards.
This was so helpful! I want to train for a Marathon but I’m perimenopausal and need to lift weights to help with hormones and not lose muscles as I age. I wasn’t sure if training would counter act all the lifting process I’ve made.
I woke up this morning wondering how to encorporate cardio into my routine I don't do it often but before I started lifting I did it daily and now hearing this I can share it with others I know who wonder the same thing!!! Thank you so so so much. Cause I'm trying to build and do it without so much cardio 🥺🤌
Thank you for this episode!! I was just thinking of adding more cardio to my routine to lose weight lol
I have always found myself so confused by the whole cardio thing. On one hand I’m impressed and inspired by people like Goggins and Hanes who run just a ridiculous amount all the time. On the other hand the fitness community seems to be just polarized by cardio, it’s good, it’s bad, it’s the best, it’s the worst.
I appreciate the video and the take in cardio and it’s place in fitness and overall health
Aahhhh, yassss. I've been waiting for an episode like this! ❤
Love all the information this show has. Awsome information. So Gald I found it❤
I do 4 day split upper/lower and the other 3 days I just enjoy staying active such as walking etc sometimes on incline treadmill if I need to hit step goals etc but what I have noticed is that due to my strength training, if I do fall off my ‘diet’ it has a far less impact than it use to when I was doing such things as Insanity DVD etc! Great video!
Cardio is weight lifting for the heart! 😁💪🏼
Needed this episode... trying to encourage my gal, who is more interested in cardio, to pair up with some strength. Pair that with this episode "How To Convince Friends & Family To Workout | Mind Pump 2152" :-) Killing it guys.
You guys help improve, adapt, overcome
💯
I like to utilize the CrossFit methodology a couple times a week for health benefits! Never felt better in my life than when combined strength training 3-5/week and Crossfit 3-5/week! Definitely mix in the appropriate amount of hypertrophy which I think a lower volume higher intensity approach has yielded the best result for me!
I love listening to you guys. I wish Adam would train me for my next show. 🖤
I’ve been waiting on this!
You guys always have the answers that I need 😅
Great episode! I had not moved any weight on scale but have been on creatine and working out more strength training I had someone say wow you look great you’ve lost weight 😂so I believe your theory I trust y’all more each episode keep on sending us this info! ❤
Thank you
Love the info!
That’s exactly why I do cardio.. to build stamina and cardiovascular health. It’s hard to find that happy medium though so I can continue to build muscle with strength training, which is frustrating
