@@Beanbag59 cold showers are the best in the morning. I dont know if they're great in the evening but a cold shower shoots up your energy and puts you in an extremely relaxed state as all your worries seem to dissapear. When you take a cold shower, the only thing that is on your mind is the cold water. I'd say hot showers work better in the evening for sleep because your body is trying to cool down instead of heating up, and a cool body results in better sleep.
Anything is better than not showering though!!!

I did 90 days of cold showers to train my mental toughness and here's what was my experience:
    1. This NEVER gets easy. Every time I got in the shower it stressed me out.
    2. It is much harder to complete a full cold shower when I am tired, stressed, or overall motivation is lower for some reason.
    3. After day 60 I started recognizing the feeling much more "deeply" inside me. That allowed me to observe better my reactions and to train my mind to react in a way that I want, not that it tells me it wants.
    4. I definitely felt a surge in motivation and self-esteem. Daily tedious tasks are much easier to complete. I use this additional awareness to mentally "slap" myself before finding excuses.
    5. Funny thing - I started missing the cold water after the 90 days. Now, every once in a while I still take cold showers. I started loving it... Wasn't expecting that to be honest.

Get in a warm or hot shower, gradually turn it colder and colder and colder, then stay in it for as long as you like.
Way better for you than the sudden shock of just jumping into a freezing shower.
Remember it’s the cold part that you benefit from, not the instant shock of jumping into something cold, because that cold shock only last about 30sec to a minute.
it’s the length of cold that you truly benefit from.
So jump in warm, slowly get it to freezing and enjoy and breath for at least 3min.
You can also finish by going back to warm.

Part of the idea is to do something you’re not comfortable with. Like he said in the video, doing something you don’t want to do makes us stronger. So by starting and ending the shower with warm water is still showing that you still want to feel comfortable, which kills the point.

I've been doing quite a bit of research into cold showers. I've had short ones, like a few seconds or so, but not full blown ones. I must admit that I developed psoriasis on both my scalp, face, and chest. The cold did actually help, but after a while, it came back, probably because the cold shower was so short. So, I will definitely give this a go, and a lot of people seem to be agreeing with the benefits.

I'm a year into cold showers now and have no intention of looking back. In fact I am now recruiting my partner. It really helps me with a needed jolt in the mornings before I start my day and gives my body/system the ability to deal with shock much better. I also generally struggle with anxiety but since the cold showers I feel more relaxed and have a better sense of calm. My skin also looks healthier and my pores are visibly smaller (supported by other means of self care ofcourse).
Ice baths: I'm very physically active outside of my 9-5 and once a week I take ice baths which really do wonders for muscle relaxation and healing after hectic weekend cycling and week long gym sessions.
    Totally worth it.

Just one thing I would like to point out. The muscle soreness that you experience after heavy workouts is actually beneficial for you and helps your muscles grow!!! So cold showers less than 3-4 hours after an intense workout is a bad idea if muscle growth is one of your goals. (See Dr Huberman on this)
