    I have a 2017, so when this vid popped up, I thought I'd see what you've farkled her up with. I'm shocked at all the negativity in the comments below. I pack like a mule myself. It's not ideal carrying all the weight, but I like to be comfortable when I'm moto camping. Last year I rode from Ontario out to the Yukon, Alaska, zig zagged across BC 3 times, south to the Olympic peninsula, WA, from Victoria, then inland and did the Idaho BDR before heading back east. Let me tell you, that bike was my "home" for 3 months. I used everything I brought, and what I didn't use often, I ended up shipping home from Vernon. My point is, Take what you think you'll need/want. If you aren't using it, you'll know soon enough. But I like to have what I need to be comfortable at the end of a long day.
    I used to have hard panniers, but I switched out to Mosko Moto Backcountry bags. I also use the same as you with the 35 litre drybag on the back seat with my tent, sleeping bag, air matress, etc in it. I kept my SW Motech topbox at the back though.
    Personally, I like your set up. Screw the naysayers! Heck, for all I know you may have a different bike by now anyway. I'm commenting on a 6 year old vid!
    Cheers!

    do the crash bar bags create wind turbulence? I have the same Kriega bags, and the buffetting was terrible, plus it felt like it was trying to lift up my front end.

      Mr. K I didn't have any issues. But I don't super fast either.

    how did you wire all the electrical gear on one accesory port behind the front fairing? nice set-up!

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      jasper lauwers I didn't. I put the 12v outlet on the existing wires under the fairing but I ran new circuits up from the battery for the heated grips and the gps. I've done a bunch of changes since this video and will be posting a new one once I get a chance.

    You forget to mention that Ram moumt on the crashbar. Is it for gopro? I have too much vibrations for camera on my Givi on AT.

    Nice machine and setup, I like those switches and relays you've added. Have you had it on the scales with it fully loaded? I'm guessing just shy of 700 lbs depending what you have loaded in the boxes.

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert DeMilo . About 610lbs loaded. Not including me😎. Thanks for the comments!

    • @Robert8455
      @Robert8455 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's really not to bad. I was watching Leo's Steiner's channel and I think he mention his gear load for his Inuvik trip was around 140 lbs.

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Robert DeMilo , I carry about 18lbs of tools, each side pannier is about 28lbs, and the top box is basically empty. The dry bag weighs about 12 lbs . I'll probably do a video of the load out as we load for a vacation later next week.

    Are the extra lights really driving and fog lights in one ?

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris Hart . One is fog. One is driving.

    • @chrisredfield3240
      @chrisredfield3240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose the headlights on the AF only operate one at a time anyway

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure - never looked. The AT headlights are the best I've ever had on a motorcycle without any extra add on lights anyway so these are more or less for off road use or for extra visiblility for other drivers (be seen or be hit :)

    Afrca twin 2017 - 45mm inverted telescopic fork; 9.06 in. travel
    Africa twin 2016 - Inverted Showa® 45mm fork w/ 8.0 in. travel; adjustable compression, rebound damping & hydraulic adjustable preload
    good morning, does this data above mean that the AT2016 has a lower suspension than the AT 2017? what are the differences between them. AT 2016 and AT 2017?
    biker greeting

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say that based on your info provided the 2016 has less travel than the 2017. I only had the 2016 so I have no real comment on the 2017.

    Looks nice but way too much gear...

    • @weridemotoz5551
      @weridemotoz5551  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Captndarty . It looks like a lot but the top box is empty. I store my helmet in it. The side panniers are about half full each. I like to have extra space in case I need it.

    • @chrisredfield3240

      You lost me with the fire extinguisher. But if you really use it all that gear no one can fault you.
      AND I am sure you have lots of enjoyment on your bike.
      I have on my manual Africa Twin:
      - Honda faring protectors/crash bars & Honda side cases.
      - I have a Alt-Rider rear rack added for any type of soft tie down bag.
      - I have wider foot pegs,
      - ordinary Wal-Mart elastic belt type tie downs with plastic hooks,
      - & lastly I have an aluminum radiator guard.
      Stock tires, stock bash plate, stock seat, & stock windshield.
      It is easy to change almost everything on a bike to customize it to "you".
      Knowing what is needed & what is not is also an important thing.
      BUT *the hardest part* is knowing when to stop.
      Stay frosty.

      Mr Patek thanks for the comment. Good thing it's not your bike then. To each his own. I prefer to have what I need and be comfortable rather than lay in the dirt with the bugs.
