These shorts are fantastic. While I pretty much got the story from the movie, these details add some wonderful depth. Also, Dave Bautista is a legitimately terrific actor. The Rock is great and entertaining, but he has never come close to the nuanced performance of Bautista in blade runner. He also shows off some great chops in guardians here and there. I hope he gets some more juicy roles.
All true. Dave Bautista has shown more growth and development as an actor who has evolved from pro-wrestling to film. Dave was great in BR 2049 & GOTG.
Stage Wrestling is a form of (although hammy) acting mixed with advanced stunt work, so its not really surprising that he is a capable actor. But still very much appreciated. I think Dave is doing really well in movies. Better than many so called Real actors... and i am happy to see his talent getting recognition. I hope to see him get more film work in the future and in a variety of genres. So far, he has proven to handle himself well in both drama and action... And GOTG shows that he has comedic timing as well. ☺️

Thank you Shinichiro Wantanabe... nobody does anime like this anymore. Cowboy Bebop goes to the number one spot of episodic series in anime for me. Nothing touches it. Nothing. I want to see an entire blade runner series in anime now.
The problem i have with it is it feels too much like Bebop. It also feels too much like Ghost in the Shell. Nothing here besides the environment screams Blade Runner.

You should check out Jodorowskys Dune. He was to make the original but the project got out of hand and got cancelled. Eventually David Lynch took over. Very interesting.
Hello the 3 shorts are amazing, love them. I heard an easter egg, I need to share it. Between 24:55 and 25:00 we can hear a woman speaking japanese in the background. It's actually a sample from Lost in translation : listen to the first second of the movie's soundtrack and you'll hear it. I don't know if it's a reference of if just the two movie used the same sound sample randomly, but that's funny enough to me, so I share it.
I'll add my name to the list of superlatives for this series, especially the anime. It's beautifully done. 'More human than human.....' Can't wait for 2049.

Anything they see or hear they believe without ever checking if it's true or not, is it laziness or do they just not know how to go about ascertaining the truth?
All 3 are kind of high-budget "fan films" in that they're obsessively mining material between the two official releases, and kind of nerdy, BUT, the anime film had the "unlimited visual budget" to show the cataclysmic events between the two movies, and does it really well. The middle movie is cringeworthy to me because Leto's Wallace is a silly Bond-villain, and the weakest link in "2049". His part should have gone to a much older and more subtle actor, and maybe even someone who projects enormous kindness and decency, like British actors Mark Rylance ("Dunkirk") or Jim Broadbent ("Another Year"), for instance. Leto's mannered "villain" speeches had my eyes rolling! The last story certainly feels the most like the Ridley's original, but maybe only superficially; it's the least original or mysterious in story content of the 3 and, by comparison, surprisingly shows how even top-notch digital STILL lacks the visual depth and beauty of actual film! I'm still happy they made all of these, but the 1982 bar was set SO ridiculously high!

I believe that Direct 'Bong Jun Ho' and 'Denis' are the great movie direct for several decade. Bong also had a chance to direct the movie, 'Arrival' but missed by his other movie schedule. I like both Bong's movie, 'Memories of Murderer, Host, Mother, and Snowpiercer,' and Denis's 'Arrival, and Blade Runner 2049.'

This is a world where Panam and Atari are still going strong. Even the Soviet Union is still in place, according to one hologram in the new movie. The universe may be rooted is ours but it also has diverged significantly. Given that the timeline of the original movie is supposed to happen in 2019, it makes sense that the creators would assume the fact that this is not our universe.
I would rather have the Blackout as an unknown event, this seems to Matrix like. Just does not fit the overall BR universe with only a handful of Replicants able to do that much massive damage.... I enjoyed it though...
