We moved to the Philippines for many reasons:
    1. The health care system in the USA is broken.
    2. The popular culture, ("wokeness") in the USA is decadent to the point of being rotten.
    3. Taxes in the USA are out of control.
    4. There is much more freedom here. In the USA they climb up your butt for everything! To give an example, in the Philippines you won't get a ticket for "not coming to a complete stop" at a stop sign. In the USA it seems you need a permit to do anything.
    5. The American legal system is nuts. Here, if you want to open up a business, or be a landlord, you don't have to obsess about liability insurance. This is not a litigious culture.
An added benefit is that the Philippine people are super-duper friendly.
    What do we miss?
    1. The food in the USA is much better.
    2. The electric service here is simultaneously very expensive and of very poor quality.
    3. Most things in America are in better shape / higher quality than here, although the trucks we bought are basically the same, (Subaru, Isuzu), as what we would buy in the USA, and, believe it or not, the internet here in rural Philippines is, discounting the cruddy electric service, as good as what we got in the USA.
    4. The weather takes some getting used to. Here in rural Mindanao, it is either raining, or damn hot. Except for early in the morning, and sometimes in the early evening, (if it is not raining), there is no comfortable weather.
