Thanks for a great write up. Will be down loading your schematic. Perfect combination of views of the schematic and the real time results. The only thing that stumped me was the E-stop switches. It finally dawned on me that they are all normally closed.
Absolutely Perfect! Thanks for refreshing my memory from my first build 3 years ago. If I remember right, the jumper allows your 5 volt wall wart to power a second section of the break-out board. Not sure though as it has been a while. I'm in the process of building a second generation to replace my first iteration. This time with high quality linear rails and ball screws for much better accuracy. All structural steel and zero wood products to be able to use coolant to cut aluminum and mild steel. Also with a 4th axis. It should get interesting.
i do have a question 1st off i've never in my life had anything to do with a cnc and i'm going to attempt to build one my question is what do i need for a computer to run this i'm thinking a windows NT or 2000 machine with a 32 bit processor should be good enuf and these two Operating systems are about as stable as you can get or windows how much ram should i be looking for thank you again
I was going to suggest from your comment on the other video, that you watch this video but I see you found it. Hope you found it helpful and thank you for watching!
Very Nice. One question: why you and some others are connecting the BB to the minusPulse and minusDir and not to the plusPulse and plusDir, and connecting the com to the minus poles?
GREAT VIDEO your the first to show how all the connections are made, could you please list the components #'s and/or manufacturers , like e-stop/ limit switches/power supply/etc. I can't figure out.....Thanks so much.............Jay
You're welcome! I used a program called VisualCadd. It's just a standard cadd software, one of the earlier ones. It's predecesser was called Generic Cadd which was a dos based cadd from the late 80's. Visual Cadd is available from visualcadd.net.
Very good and clear explaination and instructive video. Could you please tell me where I can get the exact same Breakout Board as you have in this schematic? Model number or anything that would help me obtain it.
Hi thank for the video, Can I ask I see you using DM556D what make a deference DM556D and DM556 or DM556T ,DN556E why you choose DM556D I just cant find any info for this.Thx.
Quick question. The DM556D drivers are a bit pricey. Could you, on a small system substitute the TB66004A drivers instead? They are very inexpensive but not sure if they would serve the need? Any comments would be appreciated! Also could you explain why the 2 power supplies as many go with only one 36 V power supply for the entire set up. Thanks in advance!! This is the best diagram I have seen on you tube! Subscribed!
could you tell me what program you used for creating this wiring diagram. I've been looking around a bit but I can't find a program with which i can make a diagram that looks as nice as yours does.
This is a great video surely need to be appreciated...i have one question for you whether this connection will be similar for all drivers??? Because i am having nema 23 stepper motor and the driver is st4045 so i just what to know whether this connection can be used for that too???
Thanks for the wonderful video series! Just confirming, the 3 E-Stop switches would need to be "normally closed" (correspondingly configured "active low" in the Mach 3 CNC software) to work connected in series as they are, so that hitting any one breaks the circuit and stops the machine, right? Also, just curious, have you used any SmoothStepper board in addition to the C10 BOB? I would love if you could also do a video on Mach 3 configuration/settings/tuning ... especially tuning!
Robert, thank you very nice tutorial . i have NEMA 34 and 42 motors that have 6 wires this is 4 phase motor , would you know how can i connect them to Drivers . you only have 4 wires in diagram. thank you
Thank you so much for your nice and jentil demonstraition , i learned a lot , here i have few question below if please replay as possible Why you use only one limit switch for each axsiss , in real did 2 ends exsist of each axsess The home and limit switch can be used simoltansuly in the same location ? And last question is about usb port and digital glass added to much 3 b o b by local dealer here gives diffrent port and pin numbers in out put and inputs Good luck
Hello Mr Robert i just want to know what is the spec of the breakout board and where can i buy it and if you have to use the specific breakout board for your motor drives ? Another question what is the dimensions of your stepper motors ? Your vids are awesome !!!
@@MyRobertadams hello grand father actually I need to know about 5 axis cnc break out board wiring diagram. Please can u explain.. I hope you will be explain. I'm india. From assam. I have a shiped 5 aixs controller board but I can't belive to wiring. Please

You are correct, I should have fused the drivers. Limit switches are used for homing and they may be N.C. and I may have just drawn them wrong. It's been so long ago I don't remember. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching!
I really don't remember for sure but I think the wiring for the stepper motors was 18 ga and control wiring for limit switches and E-stops was 20 or 22 ga.
Thank you for taking the time to draw up the schematic and walking us through it. Much appreciated.
Beautiful Drawing ...Best schematic on the net !...Good work Robert !
July of 2020 and I still agree with this comment!
I know this was 5 years ago but this is the bomb!!!
Thank you!

Great wiring diagram and you did an excellent job of explaining it Robert.
Very good video Mr. Adams, it explains a great deal of what you go through to set up all the electronics.
Thank you. Nicely done, colors, diagram voice intonation. A real pleasure. It's on my bookmarks. Hope to do as well when I do mine.

The stepper motors are nema 23, 425 oz. in. and the drivers are DM556D. Breakout board is a C10.

this diagram and explanation is amazing! I see your break out is Parallel connection: is USB port not recommended/common?
Thanks so much! This C10 break out board is parallel port only. I think they make units that are usb now but I'm not familiar with them.
Thanks

First off I would like to say what a great explanation and wiring diagram. You did not mention connecting up the spindle motor how is that done?

Are that makes sense. Thanks for the quick response. I will need to make sure the board I buy can handle this as well.
Excellent video, Does it come from manufacturer for any specific CNC?
very informative , thanks

Thankyou for your time Robert that gives me a starting point, much appreciated, take care, RobUK
thanks
thanks you so much
