I respect that you posted an imperfect job. Ultimately, most people using the shower won't notice or care. Most important is that it stays waterproof and looks generally decent.
Wish you talked about how you dealt with the ceiling not being level and the tapered tile from left to right.. and then if you decided to leave it like that or if you put some sort of molding over that.
That thin row of tiles along the top of the shower is exactly why I will not be tiling all the way up to the ceiling in the shower I am about to do. This way, if I am off by an inch, it won't be noticeable. I just need to make sure I am taller than the shower door I am going to install.
nice job but those cut pieces at the ceiling would drive me insane lol
Wow. Great job. The laser sure helped, but planning was the key. Awesome
This is a perfect example of why you should hire a professional tile installer.
Exactly. First this he does is drive screws into the waterproofing 🤦♂️ hope it lasts for him and his family though I just can’t stand the fact people will go and learn bad habits because of somebody so proudly teaching what they think they’ve learn
I agree at the end of the video when he stood back and I could see the top tile I busted out laughing
Atleast he didn't pay someone
@@mwilliams6273hop you heard what he said in the first time before he screw on the timber just don’t go and throw negative words on the guy when he is doing great job show as your work
as soon as i seen a mixed full bucket of thin set before he even installed the Schluter corners i knew he was not very experienced. that bucket of mud was probably sitting or 3 hours before it was used up.
I like your videos I’m an electrician and I like to tile too
Great video .just a tip from an old pro ..never use angle grinders forehand asking for nasty kickback and Mask !
Anything could have done to remove the thin slither at the top of the walls. Maybe half tile at the bottom? Thanks for the video
Do layout BEFORE you start tiling, you won't have slivers at the top or bottom
Yea the slivers on the top make it look worse, If it was a larger tile wouldn't notice it as bad.
Nice job
Thanks Katherine!
Lots of haters in the comments, i learned some useful things from the video that im greatful for
Message to the pro tile guys. . . Lighten up girls
Legend!
Another awesome video!! Thank you!!
Thanks Mitzi!
Great 👍 work, God bless you, thanks
Nice job. You helped me figure out how to do the inside corner. Like that trim and all the advice.
Glad I could help
Can you use the laser level and start in the middle where the faucet would be in the middle for sure? Great job.
What was that you used to hold the tile to the wall?
Sliver at the top…….would drive me nuts!
which would you recommend for large tiles like in this video AcrylPro Ceramic Tile Adhesive 1 gal or VersaBond 50 lb. Gray Fast-Setting Professional Thinset Mortar or SimpleSet Gray Thin-Set Mortar
I remember when i first started, but short cuts will catch up to ya
NICE!
You did an awesome job!! It’s be nice if my apartment complex hire you to fix mine instead of janky ppl!
Superb job bro!! How do you account for the small gaps and spaces at top
Love your video! I love the thin spacer, what size the spacer did you use in this case?
what were those spacers you used?
What size trowel do you recommend for walls with 12x24 tile?
Why the inside corner beading ? just looks or does it help to hold it all together ?
It was a waste i guess it gets covered up
What was the name of the corner thingies? With the fake grout.
How many boxes of tile did you use for this bathroom?
Holy crap I had just pulled, cleaned, and mortared about 70 20cm x 20cm tiles in my bathroom and saw him add mortar to the back of that first tile. When he said during the second it was mostly for larger tile I exhaled like OH MAN that worried me for the work I did
Te pareces mucho a Gerard Pique 😂
Doesn't screwing the ledger board in compromise the waterproofing? How does it not?
It definitely does. I can't remember if it's in this video or another one but I apply a kerdi band over the holes as well as over the joint between the walls to floor pan
what size is this shower?
What is the brand and name of this tile?
Looks like mine...either: "Carrara 12 in. x 24 in. Polished Porcelain Stone Look Floor and Wall Tile" @ Home Depot or "Satori Statuario 12-in x 24-in Polished Porcelain Marble Look Floor and Wall Tile" at Lowes
You split the tile by 3rds on the back wall and sides by halves. Isn’t that a boo boo.
100% and poor guy took to much off the bottom tile that’s why he’s got such a small tile at the top.🤦🏻♂️
I don't want to be a hater.................. but two different layouts for the grout lines and I hate the slivers. Sorry to be negative.
How come you didn't stagger them
Those inside expansion joints are overkill, sooner or later you have to stop spending money and tile your shower.
Only thing I seen wrong was the very small cuts at the top
You do fairly well but truth be told you botched the layout. Never should have had that sliver at the top.
Kerdi Fix isn't waterproof, researched it. Some say it is, some say it is not...I don't really trust the "is" versions...lol. I am glad I didn't use it in my shower. Great video!
Terrible tile work by the ceiling 😂😂😂
You know what else is 4.5 inches? 😂
Idk this is much of a diy project if you have no prior tile / craftsmanship experience I wouldn’t attempt this as it will probably not look even close to as good as what hes done.
at 7: 20....I am still at a lost why you didn't explain the ''yellow things'' and why your video machine wasn't closer. lack of foresight I can only imagine. it leaves questions. 3 thumbs down.
butcher job, should of started full tile from base, you ended up with 2 inch to 1/2 inch sliver cut run on ceiling. Amateur mistake. Good try
Never start at the base because your tub isn't going to be perfectly level. Start with a level ledger board
If you started with your ledger 2 inches higher, you would have a disgusting run off sliver up top. Amateur mistake, garbage high-end finish
@devilious123 that why you don't start just 2 inches higher. You start 6 or 7 inches higher so you have close to a half tile at the bottom and a half tile at the top. You split the difference so you don't have slivers on either end. Templating your wall is everything
You need to layout your tile nice cuts at floor and ceiling yours looks bad i would not pay you and you did 2 different layouts 50/50 an 1/3 idk man i wouldnt have posted this video
How you you have done a 1/3 on the side when they were a third less the distance than the back side?
🐍
damn , the top looks awful, why din"t you moved up couple more inches and even the niche would had look better!
Somehow, this guy looks like he just came out of "tiling school".
.
This guy is joke big fail
which would you recommend for large tiles like in this video AcrylPro Ceramic Tile Adhesive 1 gal or VersaBond 50 lb. Gray Fast-Setting Professional Thinset Mortar or SimpleSet Gray Thin-Set Mortar
ohh boy. everything looked so good until I seen that top sliver .
lol
That's my thing too, how do you correct that
@@rodrickthompson2799 you do a story pole, and also don't have that sliver under the niche
Not loving the slivers at the ceiling😢
I would cut the tile in half instead of a third on the second line and always tape along the lines on your tile when using a wet saw
Did you put the corner molding actually inside the shower?😮
I thought they are used only for the outside corners 😂
An expansion joint
What mud did u use for the tile ??
Always lots of good advice and information from your channel!🎉
Thanks Billy!
I thought you had to stagger the tiles
I used those wedges in my first tile floor install. I threw them out after. That tool wrecked my hand for over a week. I bought the Marshalltown tile levelers that screw on with no tool needed and they worked great. They also broke off a lot cleaner because of the large cap.
Sliver on the ceiling and bottom of the niche 😂🤦🏼♂️
You messed up on some of your lay out. Some of the tile is wrong. And why did you out shluter in the corner when it's getting covered? But you have some nice techniques
maravilloso trabajo muy bien
Hello diytyler
How many hobbyist woodworkers are there?
what size grout spacers did you use? I don't recall that being mentioned.
1/8th inch spacers
Love it learned a lot
What type of tile adhesive did you use?
Great job Tyler. Shower looks fantastic.
Good tips, nice video. One point to mention, if you plan the tile layout before placing the niche you can have a full tile end precisely at the rondec.
Awesome Video, I Learned Alot
