We got another Starter Guide for you today, this time its Feng Wei! Feng is... strong? Like, a good deal better off than most of the cast imo cause he's basically all upsides with effectively no weaknesses, plus he's cool evil 70's kung fu movie man so if that sounds good to you its probably a good pick! Naturally longer video so everything is time stamped(cool people leave likes for timestamps) and we will cover basically everything you need to know. This video you take you from zero to intermediate if not better out of the gate so give a watch and enjoy!
Thank you, good sir. I was just practicing with him last night. He’s one of my favorites - and I’m sure once I’m done with your video I’ll like him even more. Much appreciated!
As a secondary Feng main this was a really good guide, made me realise I need to use his stances more, with that being said can I get a Kazuya guide please?
Feng is such a cool design for a character. He is truly a jack of all trades character. The only "problem" with the character, that I see, is that his whole kit works well. So, if you want to be really good with Feng you should be using his whole kit. He is probably a great character to learn the game with, because it feels like you are slowly adding more pieces to the puzzle together as you add more of his moves to your game.
Using Feng encourages the most honorable style! He can be spammy if you want, but you can choose to use his full arsenal and truly play with no gimmicks. When you beat someone who is spamming, it feels good!!
And if you have been following along with the community tab yes, Steve Fox guide is coming! Just waiting for the news on the 20th to see if he's getting changed cause I think his new lionheart stance is kinda fundamentally broken(in the bad way, not good) so in the interest of making the guides stand the test of time as long as possible just waiting to see if thats getting addressed or not. So more to come and keep checking the channel for more and all that!!!!
God bless you Mohnke Man - i had just settled on Feng Wei as a main today, largely because of the absolute units of eyebrows my man sports. Doing the lord's work.
His animations and intensity of his moves are what drew me to him. All his attacks feel so impactful and powerful. For how good he is I barely see him online its weird. I'm in top red and I don't think I've ever played one in ranked. He's robust and has a lot of moves but honestly you really only need a handful of them to take you far.
I was ALMOST going to ask for my Steve guide, but i read the community post. Im a steve player, and 99% of the time, I dont use the lionheart stance because of the flaws you mentioned. I'll gladly wait for the guide. Thanks as always for the content.
@@volktol4432you can’t exit the stance without waiting, which means that if your enemy sees the stance, they just have to power crush through it and it beats all your options.
Try to figure out the game and look around at several content creators. I am NOT saying anything bad about roof but you kinda gave up on a huge part of Steve's gameplay because of some "flaws" one person mentioned.
This guide is so amazing, I was overwhelmed by how many tools Feng has as a beginner and your guide (and Chognor) has made my life easier by a ton. You have my gratitude.
He did this one for ME! I said Rooflemonger is the GOAT fighting game content creator on Twitter and BAM, he drops a vid covering my main. So needless to say I'm excited.
love the 10 essential move portion. Im not a feng main , but this saves me time to learn his general good buttons, so i cant think of ways to counter them. Great vid as always!
TY sir. I'm a tekken new Comer and have been trying to find my "main" I have settled on Feng being my guy. This has helped me tremendously. I spend most evenings spending 1 hour in the lab before bed.
Bro Feng became my main like a week and a half or so ago… Just made it to red ranks with him. This video will definitely help with more moves I should be using! Appreciate it 💯!
You're the best buddy. Faultless presentation, loaded with easy to understand information. The slow mo combos are an utterly fantastic idea. All wrapped up in your bubbly personality with a large dollop of fun. Simply brilliant. Thank you 👍😁
As a beginner I much appreciate your starter guides, they made me want to explore a lot of characters already and are really fundamental unlike many guides out there which require a lot of game knowledge already. Thank you 🙏
I learned Feng the other day to main him for a while because I never seen anyone play him. only fought one Feng out of a couple hundred matches. Now I'm gonna see him everywhere lol.
I've watched you forever and for some reason never subscribed and i deeply apologize for that. Thank you so much for the high level content you've produced I've the years.
NO SAME, I remember watching his videos back when injustice 2 dropped and he’s always a channel that pops up when I’m looking for guides on new fighting games. Def gotta sub.
Brilliant guide. I'm a... "intermediate" Feng player if I'm being generous, and while I know how to do all the moves presented in the video, this really helped me understand more of the "why" and "how" behind them. I'm going to be practicing more and hopefully I'll finally cross over from Eliminator into Garyu lmao. Thank you so much for posting this.
Not a Tekken player but love the old school Kung Fu movie bully brawler type character that Feng is. Wish more fighting games use these type of characters.
I'd call Feng a newbie trap, because the sheer amount of utility he has makes it very easy to think you're good at tekken, but honestly you need a LOT of dedication to really get how Feng works. So in that regard, thank you for this guide!
Helllll O aaaand thank you! This guide is awesome mate. I've just got into tekken 8. having not played since Tekken 3. Choose Feng as my main based on aesthetic and the way he looks to play from a few videos I saw. Fell in love with this character right away - then I find my favourite content creator made a guide , happy days. I am a Honda player who picked up sf6 with your guide and I float around mid masters , hoping I can pick up tekken also. I'm taking it REAL slow , I've just been playing vs my ghost for ages to understand his range and attacks and I am incoporating one of these essential moves every few days till I understand them fully then I add another. At the moment I'm not opening people up with mixups but that's fine for now - il be a demon when I incorporate more mixes. His combos feel create to punch in also. Thanks for all the hard work!
This vid was really cool. I mained Feng in T7 but didn't wanna play him in T8. You helped me pick him back up. I will say, this SSL after Dash is kicking my ass and making me wanna put him back down lol. Tried it at least a thousand times.
I’ve played some games against feng and always thought he was an unga gorilla but now I see the light. I normally only play mishimas but now I want to try out feng and hit people with that back turn snake edge. Thank you for this guide! I Can’t wait to try feng out.
if anyone like me struggles with the hardest hopkick combo (up 4) you can just do a regular dash and uf3 and then 3,1+2 you get 70 damage instead of 72 but with a way easier and hardly droppable combo instead, same thing with the sidestep combo starting from f3,4 , if you skip the sidestep part, use uf3 and then 3, 1+2 you'll get a 82 damage combo instead of 84 but way easier
This is the first tekken I’ve been putting actual time into and I’m having a blast as Lili. I know she’s not very popular but I’d love to see your guide on her.
Also just FYI is you tap up back you can cancel the dash into a stand block giving him a psudeo wavu it's very tricky to do consecutively tho but worth it
Rooflemonger, can I say I always appreciate you doing video guides to show me how I can improve on my playstyle and I'm having fun with feng so I tip my hat to you my good sir
awesome guide on feng, just to add on to it though, the shifting clouds auto counter is a full on launcher, shifting clouds 1 is also a natural hit launcher
Fantastic guide, as usual, one thing I would mention is that bt 3/forward, forward 3, if you hold forward after you can automatically shift into Shifting Clouds for a free 50/50 on oki. Super strong option when ending combos early to continue pressure.
Great video! Small bit of hopefully constructive criticism: I think that you use the term “while standing” sometimes both for moves that you do when you are standing and moves that you input in the transition from crouch to standing. There is some division in the community about the terminology but it’s definitely either: 1. Frequently used terminology: -While standing 3 = input 3 in transition between standing and crouching. -Standing 3 = input 3 any time when you are standing 2. Terminology the game uses: -While standing 3= input 3 any time when you are standing -While rising 3= input 3 during the transition between crouching and standing. Since these videos are generally aimed at relatively new players I think you should use the terminology the game uses, but either would be fine. It isn’t a huge deal because usually you can tell by watching which it is, but for more abstract discussions like “Feng has access to his full while standing moveset after crouch dash” it can be a bit confusing.
Feng seems like a really cool character in this game and honestly, I feel like he is going to be a really cool option to learn Tekken in general with because, I bought Tekken 8 but, a lot of the cool characters I’ve tried seem to have a lot of gimmicks and stuff that are pretty distracting from learning how Tekken actually functions and plays as a game and it seems like, if I want a badass character to learn how Tekken functions as a game then, look no further then Feng Wei himself it seems,
Hey Roofle, love your guides and tutorials and how thorough you are. It’s pretty rad you can offer a one stop shop when it comes to trying a new character. As a MK player who’s not that great at Tekken, could you make a video about all the core fundamental moves every character has? Just all the universal everything, wake up options, hop kicks, all of that. It would really help identify the core of what any character can do. Keep up the great content! 😊
There is no anything thats truly universal. Every tekken character is a grab bag of parts, and parts are shared throughout characters but nobody has all the same stuff. Like a hop kick is not universal at all. Some people have hopkicks, some people have orbital launchers, some people have the DF2. As for the wakeup stuff, thats all in the beginners guide
