Zero 7 makes me so nostalgic...Where does this song bring you back to? For me it’s a dorm room on a hot day. The windows are down and I should be studying Chinese, but instead I’m on Facebook (because it’s 2004), uploading pictures from my camera (because iPhones don’t exist) and applying bright, zany filters to them (because neither does Instagram). Those were the days...
They never had mainstream appeal, simple as that. They didn't have a consistent lineup, their music wasn't radio friendly because it's either too long or too atmospheric and they require soaking in their music and not just mindlessly listening to them. No slight on them but if they wanted to be more popular they easily could have been, which is what i respect the most about them. Their music never suffered from them wanting to be big and popular, they have their artistic integrity and have came up with some of the best albums in music history ever and to me (and probably to them too) that's way more impressive than getting a hit. The great thing about music is that as long as you can remember the song you can enjoy it, no matter how many people think they are special for liking it or how many people also feel the same way about it. Music is personal and i never understood why people care so much about why artists didn't make it as big as they could like it's somehow a misstep on their career and a blemish worth addressing (when in actuality they were pretty fucking popular too xD )
As a long time fan of both Pomplamoose and Zero 7 I find this to be almost as wonderful as kittens. Thanks so much for creating this excellent recording and video! The world doesn't deserve people as wonderful as you.
This is such a treat. I absolutely love Zero 7, they were such a huge part of my high school music taste (thanks to Zack Braff and the Garden State soundtrack). This is a stellar cover of their most popular song.
You know it's execution of covers like this that makes me think "is there a mercy rule for being too awesome?"... I'm glad there isn't. Continue to deliver these astounding interpretations, P-Moosey.
@@Pomplamoose How could that possibly be, when YOU'RE the best?! Also, in the EXTREMELY unlikely event I have your ear for these next 5 seconds? I'm in Love! Nataly has such a presence when she is singing. I love the way she scrunches her nose to get those high notes. I should explain that when I say I love her, it is as a grandfather to his granddaughter. I AM celebrating my 85th in a few days. I never would have found Radiohead or Zero 7 had it not been for Pomplamoose. Can't wait for my next discovery. Thank You!
Watching you guys interact is such a joy. For me it's a tossup between Waiting Line and Destiny for all time favorite Zero 7 songs. The courage and fortitude it takes to cover a Zero 7 vocal falls on the shoulders of only a few. You guys capture the spirit of the original so beautifully and add your unique spirit to the song.
AH YESSSSSS! Zero 7. Always feel like I'm in the minority of people who adore that early 2000s chill triphop-ish stuff. PLEASE do destiny (I know it is unlikely). ah man these latest pomplamoose stuff is giving me the shivers. soooo good
Love it!!! Zero 7 was my favourite ❤️ it was like a long train trip with a beautiful golden sunset while listening to this song, and watching my hair dancing through the air gracefully while I'm sitting in the train
A Zero 7 cover?! By Pomplamoose?! I never thought I'd see the day, and it's gorgeous. When I hear this song, I picture my high school days when I first discovered it and how I'd imagine people fading in and out of a blank white background.
I am feeling the return to the “old” extraordinary quality of music and detail. I am so happy !!! I am going to jump back into supporting you guys. For a while I thought you were gone !!!!!
That vocal/verb/harmony moment at 1:05 felt a little Robert Planty, very cool, expected a huge drum fill tracked in a giant church to kick in.... So thankful for you two and your crews of musicians, such a nice present to open every time you post. Thank you!
What a perfect tune for Nataly's voice, ya'll killin this! This track always gets married up with cinematic orchestra and early bonobo as the sound track of night bus rides around Japan. Nothing like hearing this to the receding lights of Tokyo or Osaka
I wish I could like this more than once! It's one of my favorites, from the song choice, singing, instrumentation, the mixing, and the camera work. All wonderful and harmonious.
Zero 7 is one of my favs, and this cover is such an amazing version of a great song. Pomplamoose gets it done, great musicians and great design. Fun to watch, too.
Pomplamoose sound has evolved. Their music reminds me of Earth, Wind & Fire. They have a very polished and magnificent style when creating thier array of magnetic sounds. Jack and Nataly have certainly come a long way. Pomplamoose is a defining leader in today's musical scene. I look forward to seeing them play live.
Yeah, that Garden State soundtrack blew my mind as well. :) I still have two copies of it in my CD collection. Good memories with Zero 7. Thanks, Pomplamoose.
I've been listening to you guys for like 8 years, and I gotta say this last year you are just killing it, I have been obsessed be with these covers. Also my 2 year old son loves to watch the vids and runs in when he hears the pomplamoose playlist kick on ♥️
Guys. This is just incredibly amazing. I love all of your pieces. But with this one, you just NAILED IT, from the beginning to the end ! You should do the rest of the album.
zOMGgg this song! You GUYS! And I'm really in a pickle, because I can't decide on my #1 favorite thing about the bass on this track - currently it's a 3-way tie between: the velvety hot-chocolate tone, the perfect space padding out the delicious licks, or the cherry-red fingernails against the rosewood fretboard. It's like choose your own adventure where you always win
