I also agree. When you have two legends singing a beautiful song it flat out deserves a ten. I only know how low he rated this because of Kerry McInelly's comment when she said it deserved a 10 because I have pretty much started ending his videos before he gives his rating because I hate it one of these songs that have been around forever and WILL be around forever gets a score as low as an EIGHT POINT FIVE. What did they do wrong? What could they have done to improve it? If you can't think of anything, it deserves a TEN!
And how did he not understand that our couple had returned the ring to the pawn shop and now it was being purchased by another couple and the cycle continues. Just like In the Ghetto when Elvis says, "On a cold and grey Chicago morn a poor little baby child was born in the Ghetto" and that child grew up and got involved in crime and was killed and then ANOTHER little child was born, and the cycle continues. Elvis did not merely "repeat the beginning refrain". He is referring to another baby being born in the same hopeless circumstances.

Not necessarily. It's just that couples who can only afford to buy rings in pawnshops ain't always destined to stay together. Come to think of it, even if they buy 'em at Cartier, that ain't no guarantee!

Tammy loved George, but his drinking got so bad she could not handle it.
She tried to help him as much as she could.
Once he drove his tractor to go get something to drink once he realized he could not get his car to work.
Thank God,George straightened up his life after he nearly died in a car crash.
They also sang this song together years after they got divorced .

It's a 10/10! It was written by Bobby Braddock & Rafe VanHoy. The song "Golden Ring" was conceived by songwriter Bobby Braddock, who had seen a television drama about the life of a handgun. The story showed the gun changing hands several times, with a hunter, police officer, criminal and a father of a 2-year-old child all owning the gun at one point, with the consequences played out in each segment. Braddock applied the same concept to a song about the life of a wedding ring.

    • @MadMax-lo1lm
      @MadMax-lo1lm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Conway Twitty died from abdominal aortic aneurysm. Tammy's death is somewhat of a mystery. Her cause of death was first listed as pulmonary embolism. Her daughters requested an autopsy. One year later it was done, and no pulmonary embolism was found. Her cause of death was then given as heart failure. Her daughters believed her death was caused by the powerful narcotic painkillers her husband(George Richey) was giving her for chronic pain (from adhesions from 31 major operations she had had). The drugs however are soluble in embalming fluid and the tests were inconclusive.

Love me some George and Tammy, actually she was an Alabama girl, she may have been born in Mississippi but she grew up close to where my family did and was discovered in Birmingham by Country Boy Eddie who told her that she had something special and needed to go to Nashville. She kept her hairdresser license her whole life just in case music fell through and she was a working like most folks in the country back then. The best voice i have ever heard to sound so perfect and keep that cry in her voice, she is tied in my book with Karen Carpenter. "Why-net". I love her songs but my favorite is, "Till I can make it on my own". Raising her kids basically alone she would use the bed post to hold down her girls nightgowns so they didn't crawl away while she was getting her chores done before she made it big.

Bobby Braddock, the songwriter supposedly based the song on a made-for-TV movie from the early ‘70s called “The Gun”, in which a gun that was ultimately used in a murder, was traced back through flashbacks, showing the various owners, how it was repeatedly sold, pawned, etc, ultimately making its way to the murder in which it would be used. He got the idea to use the same concept, only with a wedding ring, instead. Presumably, in the final verse, the ring ended up in another pawn shop, after the couple splits, where it’s purchased by another couple. The little girl who walks across the stagE at the end of the song was George and Tammy’s then five-year old daughter Georgette.

Tammy pronounced her name "Wa nette" Not Wy or Winn. But I believe Winn - nette" is how it was meant to be pronounced. Actually, her real name was Virginia Wynette Pugh and she was called Wynette. When she got her first recording contract her producer didn't like the name Pugh. So he gave her a new name : "Tammy Wynette"

There marriage was doomed, " no show George ", was a terrible drunk. Later in life he got his act together. My recommendation today is, Emmylou Harris / leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight, the song is off her, " quarte r moon in a 10 cent town", album, came out about 1980.

Wynette is not pronounced either of the ways you suggested. It is pronounced "WHY-net". Just for an fyi...most words with the vowel "i" in them are pronounced long like there's an imaginary "h" in there. If that's not confusing enough, alot of Texans pronounce words with "i" such as the word "right" like the word "rot". All i-sounds become "ah". Just like the shape of your hat, the way you pronounce words tells folks exactly who you are even if you try to claim otherwise. :-)

Her name was pronounced Win(as in to achieve victory)- nette. She never corrected people who said Why-nette. On Hee Haw they pronounced it wrong for about 5 years and finally always got it right after that. Here's Tammy on the same episode as GOLDEN RING(Season 8 Episode 21 air date 2-19-1977) introduced correctly by Buck Owens: th-cam.com/video/_JzPBKmKTh4/w-d-xo.html Listen to her introduce herself here: th-cam.com/video/WkgMjnnQtTE/w-d-xo.html

@@MadMax-lo1lm You're right! I guess I never noticed the change. Everyone I knew including Hee Haw said it Why-net , I assumed everybody else was wrong. Thanks for educating us all...its only respectful to say it correctly...better late than never!

@@davidemswiler4351 Reba McEntire (Tammy Wynette Kind Of Pain) and Kelly Pickler (Where's Tammy Wynette When You Need Her?) continue to sing Why-nette to this day. Most people think it's Why-nette (which is aggravating to hard core Tammy fans like myself).

@@MadMax-lo1lm I'm guessin' Jay Leno didn't get the memo. Here's his interview where he says "Whynet"

      Same with Letterman th-cam.com/video/kpQivS-2hDg/w-d-xo.html
