      When you say "signed up with an agency" does that mean you auditioned and they brought you on board or was it like you paid some money and they brought you on board? I'm new to all this

      @@BelgicaPaola I was messing around and made four different online identities to get commissions (I do a lot of graphic design under each one) I tied all of them to a fake talent agency and things got out of hand from there. A really good artist wanted to join and I took the deal since if it worked well enough it could be a good business opportunity. What I didnt expect was that more people would come, I underestimated the amount of work was needed and now I'm trying my best to uphold multiple contracts. Things are going somewhat well since I managed to get a few deals with local businesses in my area.

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there :) Yeah, it also depends heavily on the jurisdiction of the agency. For example, my SF agency can only get me work in the Bay area. If I wanted to audition for a Netflix show in GA, I would have to get another agent.

    Should it ever have to be payed when you don't have a gig? Like paying something up front even if you don't get on their agency or whatever?

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not for agents. They work on commission when they get you jobs. If it is a casting website, then yes but please be careful because there are SO many scam sites. It all depends on where you live, ask around and see what other actors in your area are using.

    • @BelgicaPaola

      Depends on your contract. It can be either way. This is something you would ask them about before your meeting so you know what you are getting yourself into.

    Does ur agent have to be in the same state or city you live in? Bc I live in North Carolina in a small town and the nearest city is Raleigh which is quite small compared to most cities. There’s also Charlotte which is pretty big but it’s also 3 hours away from where I live.

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on so much and COVID is also continuing to change everything. If you already are established or are very wealthy (can afford to travel within minutes notice) then no, you don't need to live in the same city. But if you are starting out, you will find it very difficult to find an agency to rep you. I would love to make a video on this and share more! :)

    How does agents get the audition roles for you?

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the location but most have relationships with casting directors/producers. The casting directors/producers etc. come to the agencies (usually through some kind of software or casting website) and give them the breakdown.

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! It depends on your contract. When you sign to an agent, you will get a contract and there it will have all of the policies around leaving them. If the contract doesn't have anything on that, I would suggest requesting an amendment it before signing.

      Hello Hailmat, you can defeneatly book commercial auditions without an agent. In my experience, I get higher paying jobs through my agency. I am currently on hold for a $15k job. The most I have been put on hold through SF Casting was a $5k job and I have had a lot of smaller roles that pay around $800 that I found on my own. Getting an agent can be easy if you have a good head shot and they do not currently have someone of your type. I can make a video talking about this more if you would like. 👍

    • @BelgicaPaola
      @BelgicaPaola  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I do not pay the agency anything. Depending on what agent it is, they will take 10-20% of the pay form the gig. Often, gigs will have an additional 20% for your agent.

      Belgica Paola Rodriguez Is it rare to find an agent who speaks Chinese?

    • @builderspluscustomhomesand2146
      @builderspluscustomhomesand2146 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are asked to pay an agency... run. A professional agency will NEVER ask YOU for money up-front. That includes taking care of your photography an marketing too. Agencies are to find work and they contract that work through that company that wants you to work with them. Afterwards and like she said, they will cut the check to the agency(me) and (me) will cut your portion(20%) to you. We do 30% though because of these covid times.
