    There are acting opportunities in just about every city in the world. I'm an American who lives and works in Munich. When I decided that Germany was probably going to be the place I spent the rest of my life, I had another decision to make - either give up on my dreams or find a way to achieve them here. I don't believe in "can't do". I believe everything is possible - you just have to ask "how can I do it?" - BTW, I came for love, not my career, but I've managed to make both work even though I had to start all over again from scratch.
    Plus, most of you are starting out in a completely new era. You have things available to you that I never had - a film studio in your pocket for one - which means you can also create your own work that you can then use to send to agents, casting directors, producers, etc., in a bigger market to let them know you're alive. Also, since Corona, the industry has changed immensely. The first round of just about all auditions is a self tape.

    Your videos are very helpful for me and i realized a few things from this video. I think its very difficult for me to grow my acting in the Hollywood as i am from India as a 19 years old, i was planning to do bachelors in acting in the US (only if i could afford it) but I am already doing bachelors in graphic design in India and i dont know if it is much of a good idea to do another bachelors in acting or to do a masters in acting. I am confused.

    I'm very surprised you didn't mention your closest neighbour, Canada. I live in Toronto and audition (and shoot) regularly both for Canadian and American productions. Not because I have an American agent - I don't - but because Toronto is called Hollywood North for a reason. A LOT of American television and films are shot here. I'd say in Canada, at least, Toronto or Vancouver (overlooking the exorbitant costs of living in either) are not far behind American cities like LA, New York or Atlanta. I wouldn't put them on par - I average 40 to 60 auditions a year, unlike the 100 Kurt got in his first year. Just saying, there are legit Hollywood alternatives to the US.

    Really enjoy your videos, I'm not an Actor, I'm just a Atlanta Resident. I've notice all the film production going on around Atlanta. I'm curious how the Film production is now with New York and LA still shutdown? And with Disney focusing on streaming how do you feel that will effect the Atlanta Film Production? Will it skyrocket or just stay the same? Just really curious since I've already had a number of filming take place at my job. Wonder if I should expect even more.

      I've never personally worked in New Mexico but I've heard they are a growing market. Netflix is heavily invested in Albuquerque. Good that you are starting classes. Your acting teachers should have better insight about what is going on there.

    I'm trying to become a film producer and television producer, but I think I can still answer this question. California, New York, Miami, and New Orleans. I live in Fort Lauderdale and I asked a man who I went to middle school with can he play the leading male actor in my project and he wasn't interested at all. So I traveled from Fort Lauderdale to California and notice that those people were more interested in acting than the people in Florida. But I notice there are no movies filmed in Fort Lauderdale and celebrities don't come to Fort Lauderdale only Miami

    Hi! I am 16 and I hope to become an actress one day. I live in an European country where it’s very difficult for me to have acting classes and gain experience, so my plan is to take an acting course in the uk next summer and once I finish high school, go live in the US for a couple of years to try to get an acting career started. Given that I won’t have that much experience, what city do you recommend I go to when I go to the US? And do you happen to know any good courses or classes I could take? Thank you for all your vídeos they have been amazingly helpful!!❤️😊

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In my opinion, if someone is relocating to a new city, they shouldn't base their decision entirely on their acting career. It's extremely important to have a great life outside of acting. So a big part of your decision (maybe even the majority of your decision) should be based on your lifestyle and what you want out of the city that you are living in. In the US, Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta all offer great opportunities for actors, but they are very different in terms of what each city has to offer. Do as much research as you can and ask yourself which city you would most enjoy LIVING in not just ACTING in. Also, don't look past London. It's one of the best cities in the world to pursue an acting career.

    Hi Kurt! First of all thanks for these videos. Second I have a question: I am a Greek actress living in Greece but occasionally I also work in UK as well. I hold a BA in Acting ,an MA in Theater pedagogy, I have been acting for more than 10 years and teaching stage acting and improvisation since 2009. All these without an agent. I am thinking of moving to Vancouver to pursue my acting career. Your opinion please!

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Making a big move like that is a huge decision with a lot of factors (both professional and personal) that need to be weight. I can't really tell you what you should and shouldn't do because everyones situation is going to be different. I wonder though, if you are already working in the UK, why you wouldn't start pursuing an acting career there? London is one of the best cities in the world for actors.

    • @MariaChelidoni
      @MariaChelidoni 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ActingCareerCenter Yes I understand exactly what you mean. In UK I work occasionally and without an agent yet and this is actually the problem. Plus I am not based in London and this has the pros and cons. With the covid situation right now I am "stuck " in my home country Greece teaching drama for now but not the best circumstances. I realize that probably it is best to keep trying in UK but let me tell you that for someone who is not from UK things are much more difficult... Thank you for taking the time to answer. All the best.

    I found your channel and this is very informative. How old is too old to start a career in acting? Is it possible to become an actor while also working a full time job? Is it possible to be an actor if you have epilepsy? When you become an actor do you get medical insurance or how does that work? What online classes do you recommend to take to become an actor? What made you want to start this channel? This is awesome that you are giving your advice on acting. Not a lot of actors do that. Thanks for the info😊

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No such thing as too old. I personally know multiple people who started acting after 60.
      It really depends how flexible your other job is.
      I have a friend who has epilepsy and is a working actress.
      SAG-AFTRA (the screen actors union) has health insurance but you need to qualify every year. More info at www.sagaftraplans.org/
      There are many many acting schools offering online classes right now. Two that I can personally vouch for are

    Hi Kurt 👋🏻. I want to move to Atlanta next month. Do you have any recommendations on more affordable and safe areas in Atlanta to move to? Specially for pursuing acting. Thank you!

    • @ActingCareerCenter
      @ActingCareerCenter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. Most places close to downtown are going to be expensive. The further you go away from the city, the more affordable it is. I live near The Battery which is where the Atlanta Braves Stadium is. It's far enough from the city to be relatively affordable and close enought to still be a convenient drive to most parts of the city. Other potential options are Vinings, Norcross, Decatur, Doraville, North Druid Hills. Many potential options.
      2. There's no perfect spot for pursuing acting since 90% of auditions in Atlanta are self taped (even before the pandemic). I know actors who live in every corner of the city.
      If you have more questions about ATL, don't hesitate to ask and I'll try to answer the best I can. Or if you prefer to ask 1:1, you can book a Zoom consultation here: form.jotform.com/203157276256154

    Hi. Thank you for your good program and teaching. I wanted to know if you want to choose a country to immigrate as an actor, do you have a suggestion? Is America a priority or are there other suitable countries? What is the situation of European countries in this regard? And which of these countries has a stronger cinema industry and which one is more suitable for an immigrant actor in addition to a powerful cinema?
