No need to pump the gear box oil through the drain bung guys. There's a black cover at the top of the gear box, at the back. Take our the 4 torque bolts and funnel 1.7L of oil through there.
Also, undernear the ecu for the mechatronic unit (black ecu held in by 7 25mm torque bolts) there should be a small circular seal in the centre of the unit. If that isnt there then your unit won't hold pressure and you'll never pass the adaptions.
Check the bearings in the gearbox while that unit is out also. You'll see 4 of them. Top left and right and then bottom left and right. Make sure they move all the way left, to the centre and all the way right. When the unit goes back in make sure they're all in the neutral position (centre).
Just some advice from someone who's been through hell and back for a few years lol

In the last 15 years or so, VW/Audi have become masters at disguising shoddy, substandard engineering behind expensive looking interiors and nice wheels. Most of their stuff is the epitome of style over substance and has been for years.

Always a joy to see Chris work close up old school methodology lay, it out as you dismantle the unit when reassemble just work backwards love the clean and tidy work bench no muck and to get in when putting back together. Robs commentary clear and honest with the viewers especially when it doesn't go to plan helps us look out for the pitfalls. Top content 👌

First comment and and been following you guys for a while……. It’s pretty simple fix,The accumulator has gone in the mech, it’s more than likely fractured the mechatronic housing/body. Just beware of hairline cracks in the mechatronic body even if you can’t see them as it’s very common.
Any DSG “specialist” will charge £1300 quid easily and probably attempt to do you over for a new clutch as well as I’ve seen it so many times over the years and when in reality this can be fixed for less than £150 quid with the mechatronic still on the car.
Bare in mind the DQ200 box takes two separate oils:
    1 litre of hydraulic oil - G 004 000
    1.7 litre of gearbox oil - G 052 171
Whilst you have the mechatronic out you would be as well having a quick look over the solenoids as that’s the only other real issue with these.

Hi chris and rob amazing content is that a modified plate you put back in the mech unit as the aluminium is thicker round wear the accumulator screws to as that is the weakest parts of these mechatronic unit i would recommend using the correct bolts to fit the front cover on the mech unit but that my preference just a little help/advise if needed you need a OAM mechatronic removal tool can buy them off of ebay for about £12 you will need this refit the mech unit to the gearbox it holds the clutch forks away from the mech makes it easier to install you will also have to line all the selectors up on the back the mech unit use a Vernier Gauge And measure all 4 corners to 25 mm and in the gearbox you will have to make sure all the gear selectors are in neutral in the gearbox if these are not lined up properly it can get stuck in gear or not have certain gears when reprogramming or quick learn after installation also you dont need to pump the oil in through the drain plug i find it easier to pour in from the top just under the battery you will see the gear selector cable remove the 10mm bolt from selector and under that there is a black plastic cover remove the 4 30 torx bolt remove the cover and put a funnel in the gearbox and pour it in from the top less mess its the way i learned how to fi these mech units sorry this i lots to read but i just though i would share some of my experience with you guys hope this helps and makes sense

Great video, I had this issue a few years ago on my Audi A4. When the issue happened it felt like the car was going to explode - the vibration was crazy. Cost me about £4K to fix and is why my Audi specialist warned me this will always happen on VW and Audi’s and why I’ll never buy one of these brands again. I got a replacement unit, fascinating to see you can rebuild them.

Very interesting video. One of the main causes of failure is lack of servicing on dsg/S-tronic gearboxes. The 6spds are every 40k mile and the more robust 7spds are every 70k. But most vag dealers do not advise owners of this, just in the same way they never advised owners of the 6 and 8spd zf boxes. I had mk6 GTI dsg and had the box serviced as soon as I bought the car as vw has fixed price servicing for the dsg/S-tronic gearboxes.
Keep on top of the servicing and they work fine. Very fast changing and these 2nd gen dsg boxes are a bit smoother at pulling away in low revs compared to the first gen in the mk5 golfs.
Top work again Chris & Rob 👍

I can add another one to the needs a gearbox! Great to see that certain things on a car aren't terminal and sell for scrap as dealers make out. Cheers Guy's. Keep up the good work and let Chris get out on the mower to let off steam.

My number 1 youtube channel. Only found it a couple if weeks ago.
Guys, have you considered getting a scooter/motorcycle to do quick runs for small parts?
Will keep costs down if needing to cross the dartford bridge for small parts. Just a thought

Yet another gearbox, you will be specialists soon. I have to say that I couldn't really undestand how that thing works. I will have to look at TH-cam! Thanks Rob and Chris for another interesting video.

I have been following you for over two years. Always loved the channel, even when Chris was silent in the background. Now you are the best car TH-camrs bar none with both of you explaining what you are doing. I have nothing at all to do with the car trade, but eagerly await Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to see what you are up to. 👍
