  • This BBG Grill is perfect for RVers and Van Lifers! It's a marine grill by Magma- portable, reliable and durable.
    On our very first camping trip- when practicing for RV Living Full Time- in our new Grand Design RV, we had an epic fail grilling chicken on the campsite grill with charcoal briquettes. The grill was way too high above the briquettes so the chicken just wouldn’t cook.
    Luckily, we had made friends with our neighbors, Richard and Bonnie Buchanan, because we were both in Grand Designs. We felt comfortable enough to share with them the problem and they readily offered the use of their Coleman Grille.
    After that experience, we never wanted to rely on a campground grill again. So, we decided to make a list of the perfect grill for us to use in our new full time RVing lifestyle.

    Recommended by Marc from Grand Adventure • Ep. 28: RV-Mounted BBQ...
    5-year experience with Magma Nesting Cooking Set amzn.to/2S1mvWR
    Super compact- takes up almost no space at the back of the RV, does not affect stair use.
    Very easy to set up and use.
    Stays clean while traveling (packing it up is part of our hitching up checklist- see video • Hitching Fifth Wheel C... )
    Cooks a surprising amount of food, 4 chicken breast sliced in half, 8 pieces.
    Cooks evenly if you cook at the proper heat.
    You can adjust the height depending on how high the back of the RV is after leveling.
    Easy to take completely apart to clean.
    Built to last for years, stainless steel , made in America.
    Relatively inexpensive to use, propane tanks are available everywhere for $4-$5. (you can use an adapter from Magma to connect to a large propane tank or to the RVs propane line if available)

    Great job guys! I like your security add-ons in case of incident, but I can also add that we've been using this for 2.5 years and traveled for probably 50K miles of towing with no incidents whatsoever. I really like the way you put this video together, and thanks so much for the shout-out!

    Ok I see Larry is cooking. Minus 1 man point. Cooking a meal for the two of you. Throw a couple pieces of lettuce on the grill and you are good. Lol aka you eat like rabbits. I had food off that grill. It really was good. We are using the 17 inch griddle right now but don’t like it to much. We are going to get something different here soon. This install look pretty simple over all. We will take a look at this one for sure. I thought I was your favorite channel. Now I find you are cheating on me with this Mark channel guy. Hum. Our first RV was an Airstream so I wanted a silver grill. After research in 2006, I decided on the Magma
    A10-918-2GS with the table top legs. I wanted a rectangle surface because we had children camping with us and I was afraid the round grill might not have enough surface area. I still use it and recommend it.

    • @DownsizingMakesCents

  • @TheDryCampers
    @TheDryCampers 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Pretty cool! Now the arm is an add-on, so we can use this grill elsewhere as well or does it work best (with the Venturi tube) on the arm? I’d like to get a new grill and smaller than what we currently have, but since Airstreams don’t have ladders, I would have to do it elsewhere. I guess the arm may go on a picnic table or something of the sort though?

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bearing in mind that they're intended for marine use, they have a number of mounting options: magmaproducts.com/mounts/marine-kettle-mounts
      I see that they do have a mount that creates tabletop legs that you could use on a picnic table.

      Good question. Larry swings it away from the RV 8-10” when cooking. And the heat is concentrated inside. He’s felt the RV. It’s never gotten warm. It’s a marine grill, built to last. Alice

    Great video and great idea! Do you think the 17" party size would work on this arm , or would the side or the cover hit on the ladder ?

    • @DownsizingMakesCents
      @DownsizingMakesCents  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. Look up arm, a Magma arm, and see what it works for.
      Check weight of 17” for weight on ladder.
      Let us know 🤗

    • @disalvofamily231
      @disalvofamily231 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DownsizingMakesCents it says the arm is compatible with all magma grills ,but on a boat you are usually mounting it above a rail , not next to a vertical laddder , so I dont think they mean in this application. If I do it I'll probably just go with your set up.

  • @BevDessert

    I have a haul master aluminum mobility wheelchair ♿ carrier with ramp on my class A RV. Would it be okay to attach the BBQ to carrier instead of theladder?

    • @DownsizingMakesCents
      @DownsizingMakesCents  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that would work fine, just measure the diameter of the round tube you are attaching to, the arm attachment can be ordered in different sizes, and they also have adapters. Larry

    If you take off the grill and the radiant plate I suppose you could use it to boil a kettle.
    Does anyone have any input on this?

    • @DownsizingMakesCents
      @DownsizingMakesCents  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am sure you could use it that way, but the flame would be a few inches from the pot you are trying to boil in. It is a great backup plan if we run out of our regular propane tanks but need to cook in a pot. Larry

      Look into it up it's a real thing. The food taste like it was cooked on a charcoal grill because you do use charcoal.
      People will not steal it from you because they think its trash. That is how one was taken from out camp the people that clean up tha camp that we stayed at took it because they thought it was trash.

    That grill location looks a little like watching the "Grapes of Wrath". I would have it inside with the ability to plug into a gas line plumbed to the outside if needed. You can get a portable pellet grill for the price of the one you got and have much more functional grill/oven combination. Most of your camping has nice table/bench seating that would be perfect for your needs?
