    Possibly the biggest answer to your question about using the front doors and electric windows off the white S10 Blazer in your red S10 truck is whether or not the truck has the main body wiring for the electric windows already in place behind the kick panels in the foot wells ready to match up with the wiring inside the doors. That might be there as by the time your S10 truck was made a lot of manufacturers were switching over to using common body wiring looms for all vehicles and just leaving the branches that weren't required due to the vehicle not being fitted that particular item of equipment wrapped up and not plugged into anything. If the branches of the main wiring loom for the electric windows are there then it's going to be a simple plug and play operation once you've added the necessary fuse, if they are fused separately. If that branch of the main body loom isn't there then it's going to be a lot more complicated as you're going to have to build that section of wiring from scratch and run it appropriately which could mean taking a lot of the interior apart. In that case refitting the white doors with the manual window and lock mechanisms originally fitted to the red S10 might well be the easiest answer, unless you want to take on another interior-based project that could be a couple of days' work. An easy way to tell at a glance could be to see if there is a rubber grommet in the A-pillar of the red truck where the wiring would come through to connect to the door wiring. If there isn't then it may not even be possible to run the wiring to the doors as there might be different panel pressings in the A-post area for vehicles built with electric windows and central locking from new and those not which don't have space to take the wiring runs up to the doors, which would mean a lot of modification work in that area to run the wiring...

      Dude, you're a lifesaver! Thank you soooo much for taking the time to share this information. I figured it would be a serious install if the provisions weren't there already. I'm going to double check everything you mentioned and cross my fingers that it is as simple as a plug and play. Otherwise, you're probably right, the effort might not be worth it.

    • @gosportjamie
      @gosportjamie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@saabkyle04 On the up-side, if the provision isn't already there for the electric windows, the manual windows from the truck should bolt straight into the Blazer doors as the pressings are likely to be common to vehicles with either set of equipment to reduce manufacturing costs...

    If it were my project, I'd do a "GT" style truck. A comfortable cruiser with a little sport for fun. Add some bracing to the frame to solidify it a bit, build some sort of comfortable but tight suspension. Trans/rear end gearing for the highway (road trip cruiser?). I'd even go so far as to add modern conveniences like automatic headlights and things like that. Just throwing that idea out there to see if it sticks to the rust.

    If it had been me I would have given the blasted frame a good wipe down with a light oil like 3-in-1 or even a thorough squirt over with some WD40 to keep the airborne moisture off it. Freshly blasted metal will flash rust badly with very little provocation but a thin coating of light oil will stop that happening...

    It's always interesting watching US channels and what they consider rusty/seized components.. Tip for those ball joints use an air hammer and a pickle fork attachment.. And vice grips to stop joints from spinning.. Sometimes you can get lucky with the impact using it in small spurts, but once it starts to spin just get the grips on it

    So how many of them do you have total? I've lost track. 2 parts trucks, the green one that you pulled motor on, and the s-10 4 door?
    EDIT: Also that little red s-10?

You have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and I was wondering how your wife feels about you doing this type of work instead of using your degree? Thanks again for all the great videos over the years.

    Kyle when I work on these trucks when taking off shitty shocks save your cutting wheels get a deep socket with a big long extention work the extention back and forward the bitch will snap in like 4 swings. Also.. Your ball joints spinning get a little bottle jack on some wood i have chopped rail road ties and put it right where the grease nipple goes it will put pressure on the actual joint its self and jam it. Now if you plan on re useing it put it on the casted part. I never bother with cotter pins i hammer a socket right onto the bolt and run them over cotter pins never mess up the harden steel threads. Take a punch and smash out the rest of the pin. Also you 100% need bigger hammer for the lower arm bolt lol

      A rag top would be so sick!! The bodywork has already been done for the most part, as far as blending the roof of the blazer and s10 so I'll probably just keep it like that. It was pretty well done!

    Do more if research on rust coatings. Powder coating is not the best thing,. I'd paint it, then apply sticky oil on top of the paint. Watch Mustie1 and South Main Auto.

    • @saabkyle04
      @saabkyle04  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The truck will never be driven in salt for sure, we really don't have much of a rust issue down here. I'll check those channels out and research additional options as well. I like the idea of powdercoating over painting as it's less prone to chipping/flaking overtime. Some manufacturers are starting to do it from the factory. I appreciate it bud!

      I agree. I'm not a giant fan of powder coating frames, especially extended frames that flex like that one no doubt does. It's great otherwise. For that frame I'd paint it. Once powder coating cracks rust can get in and stay hidden.

    Seeing as some fab work has already been done to the frame,and as your stash of donor vehicles is plentiful, I would take this build to a new level.Stretch the frame even more,box it for strength, and do a 6 door cab limo style build. LS modern powertrain.lowered a bit,but not bagged.youve got the parts.take the time to do it right, not a quickie hack job.Make the end product look like GM built it custom for a special customer.Do something not already done.
