      @Cecil Brothers I've touched plenty of power tools, I'm just not stupid enough to risk touching a router bit in use. But that's the world now, views on the Internet are more important than fingers and thumbs. I'll stick with my rule of 'Accidents never happen before they happen the first time'.

    Is this necessary for all cnc wood work? Is the cnc machine not able to cut out the entire pieces?

    • @richtomlinson7090
      @richtomlinson7090 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CNCs that have vacuum hold down, require no cuts completely through, if the piece is smaller than the vacuum hold down area.
      We free the piece from the rest with a solid carbide bit, with no bearing, it's just smooth for less friction on the upper part.
      some use a bearing bit, but they're so tiny the bearing can get destroyed easily.

      Routers don't really have a tendency to outright toss your workpiece, they just tear big chunks out of it if you aren't paying attention to the grain.

    • @jimbusmaximus4624
      @jimbusmaximus4624 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No but if you hit a knot and your work piece explodes with your fingers cradled around the bit.... I've also seen splinters get thrown and bits explode like a tiny little grenade. Never compromise the safety of your fingers if you work with your hands for a living. Stay safe yall

    I've been a Master Mechanic for 30yrs. I've seen people loose fingers.. When you wear proper glove for the job, you get used to them and you prefer to work with them.
    When working with wood, about the only time that I don't wear gloves is final sanding by hand, and must feel what I'm doing.
