THIS is the tutorial I’ve been searching for, a true beginners video, so many others assume you already know some stuff, and leave you with questions, and frustrated, I am feeling confident now to begin routing! Thanks heaps
I've searched for a video on router basics and most I watched left lots of questions unanswered. Not so in your case. This is an excellent 'beginners' tutorial covering all the basics. Thanks!
Justin I have just bought a router and tbh I was a bit nervous about using it, saying that, watching your beginners guide has certainly given me more confidence in using this tool. So thank you very much..😃😃😃😃😃
My Grandad taught me how to use his moulding plane, which I've always used. It does need a bit of skill and effort and does have some limitations, so I've had a hankering for a router. Now I have a job rebating the edge of some flooring in-situ in a doorway which really would be difficult with just hand tools so I need to take the plunge (!) and get up to speed (!) with a router. Many thanks for this introduction, it has helped greatly. By the way; one further tip, if I may suggest, for using a power tool on a cable; check the wire has enough slack and is not going to pull tight as the tool is moved through the working stroke, or worse get pulled into the cutter. Rehearse the move.
Spot on my friend … I’m an enthusiastic amateur who loves trying new things and your vid has just made my life a lot easier , can’t thank you enough , cheers mate 👌 👍🏴
couldn't agree more, I got one as well, cheap on to start with to see if I use it enough to invest in more expensive one, this video is just what the doctors ordered!!
Years long DIYer about to try routing a table project... much learned and much appreciated... Safety safety safety... allways wear them eyes and ears and...unplug or remove the battery any time You adjust the bit.... TY.
This was very very helpful. I've just bought my first router and this video has helped me get up to speed on the most important information that a beginner should have.
The best beginner guide I've seen! As other commenters have said so many other "beginner" videos assume you are already familiar with a router. I've just bought one to do my kitchen worktops, but I've never touched one before. This tutorial was perfect for the absolute beginner. Thank you!
One of the best videos I’ve come across. I’ve had a new router for years gathering dust in my garage. I was always concerned about the safety but feel up to the challenge after watching this video. Thank you !!!
I do have a router, but I have been a little wary of using it, like you from the safety aspect. I was also not too sure of using the correct bits. I agree, it was an excellent video and one that I will use until I'm competant.
Thanks for the info on this bit of kit, very well presented and easy to understand, I’m 74yrs old and have had a router for a number of years but never used as I was a bit weary of it? Thanks for taking time to show this.
Fantastic video. I’ve been putting off getting a router for years as to be honest I frightened myself using a friends one without doing any research. They are dangerous if you don’t know what your doing! Watching this has helped me overcome my fears and I’m of out to screwfix to get this exact one!👍🏼
FABULOUS - thank you so much. I actually have used a router trimmer in the past but had forgotton most of the basics and you brought it all back On this cold May Winter night in New Zealand - many thanks.
I just bought a new Dewalt fixed/plunge router combination. I'll be starting my first project with it tomorrow. I'm making a breadbox for my wife. It will require that I groove the wood for the sliding door. I'm very nervous, but your video gave me some great tips on how to set it up! Thank you very much!
A very useful video, thanks. I haven't used my router for 25 years and this was a good refresher. I think you might have a history of instructing or teaching? You are a natural. All the best, Pete
Thanks Justin! I love that you get straight to the "point" and don't spend a lot of time explaining this or that. I've been doing a couple of things with my router, but it just didn't seem like I was doing something right. The last part about the direction of the router....THAT was what I needed to hear...thanks!
Well done, easy to understand the concepts given. Bought and used mine twice to router out door hinges. Appreciate the safety information & reminder as to rotation in relation to piece being cut. You are so right in fastening the work to keep it stationary. Thank you.
Hi Justin, great video! Just got my first router and was able to bezel a nice edge into some pieces, they almost look pro! Thank you the very helpful video!
brilliant. thank you very much for this tutorial. I've just got my first ever router and never used one before and have no idea of how to use it. I've seen a number of vids on youtube, but this is the best by far. thanks again.
Great video. Very helpful and well explained. Was thinking about buying a router, and this has given me confidence to go ahead with it for my new woodworking hobby. Many thanks
Rarely watch a full video, but I stuck around right until the end. Just picked up a router with no instructions. Looks identical to yours but a different brand. Absolutely great advice 👍🏻
First time router user here 🖐Found your video very informative and learned a few tricks that I will definitely be applying to get the job done. Thanks for the vid!
Advice for newbies, just like a saw, it is safer to not move the router until it stops spinning, plunge routers are beneficial for this ability. Fixed base and stopping- he laid it with moving bit facing him, I would advise laying it outward. This is why a clean space is best. A on/off pedal is a great add.
I want to use this router to make my own picture frames for my canvas paintings. This information is extremely helpful without being too complicated. Easy to remember and I have also made noted to remind me of important things to check before using. I'll keep coming back for more info. thank you. :)
Great video for beginners like myself. I have a router though I have not used it yet. So, when you use a router you go in a left to right direction and a router table would be right to left since the router is inverted.
Justin, great intro video. I know a lot about basic carpentry but nothing about using routers. I like to start with the basics when I learn a new skill set and this video is right sized for me.
Hi Justin, great Vid. I`m sure you know this but just in case, the first demonstration what you shown where you use the Router on the flatside up against your Guide. You can do it that way, but then, you always have to push against your Guide and keep it straight for the whole cut. If you where to use the Curve on the Router against your Guide, your Line will be Perfectly straight without worrying to keep it flat on the Guide. If by any chance you didnt know this, try it out. 👌🤟
After a lot of searching this was the best video I found. Loved how you teach, but it was the slow speed of practical demonstrating I liked. Would love to see a video like this on cutting into deeper wood like 40mm worktops and radius cuts on curved units. This video though - fantastic
The last thing you said about the pushing of the router and not pulling towards oneself saved me a lot of danger. I owe you much respect.
THIS is the tutorial I’ve been searching for, a true beginners video, so many others assume you already know some stuff, and leave you with questions, and frustrated, I am feeling confident now to begin routing! Thanks heaps
Great stuff 👍
