I use to make all the gifts until a person made a rude remark.
That person is no longer in my life so I think I will start again. Gifts made specially for a person have more heart than a purchased gift.
Bless you for reminding me of my values.

I'm giving homemade cookies to neighbors. For my in-law family members, I have finished some embroideries that were left behind by my mother-in-law when she passed on, and framed them for hanging. I think they will enjoy having some of her beautiful hand work to display. Merry Christmas to you, Paul, Dixie, and family!

I just realized this has my husband's Scott's name on it! But Hi! from me, Mary Kay! I made little loaves of quick breads this year as gifts. I presented several of my friends with small loaves of Sweet Bread, Cinnamon Raisin Bread, and Zucchini Bread, along with a jar of homemade cherry jam. Thank for your encouragement each week. I look forward to every episode! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you both. And Dixie Belle too!

Hello from a granny in England. Your channel popped up a couple of months ago and I started following you. I do so enjoy watching you. I live a relatively simple life in a small market town that dates back to the 1200’s. My life is not necessarily frugal but I do so enjoy watching all the lovely ideas that you share. Sending you very best wishes for a peaceful and safe Christmas.

We made most of our gifts.
My hubby makes peanut brittle (family and friends)
My oldest sister passed away this year: I took some of her material and made myself and my 2 sisters aprons and I made shutterfly picture book for myself and my 2 sister.
My hubby said after last Christmas that we should make each other gifts. I made him cowboy candy, a sack to go over a piece of his bow. I am trying to make toffee (the first batch is to soft so I will try again soon. )

This year I will include fudge and candied nuts. And I will make Texas Trash for my family and my girlfriend.

Love the cookie tray idea. Its so pretty. I make-up goodie boxes with homemade cookies, candies, donuts, candied nuts etc. for our neighbors, friends and family. Its such a frugal way to share a little love and kindness. I buy bakery boxes, labels and bakery tissue paper cheap off Amazon to use for the boxes. One order of those will last me for a few years. Dixie looks so cute all snuggled up and waiting for Santa! I know how super busy you must be this week and next but thank you for still taking the time to put videos up, we really appreciate it 😁

Your cookie trays look wonderful! I need on your list! ;)
Our family started a new tradition a few years ago where we draw names (immediate family) and we make a gift for our "drawee". I help several others with their gifts. I'm finding that the "Mom" of the family often misses out on surprises as we're "in on" many of them. lol STILL a lot of fun.
I drew my husband and I taught myself to play a song that he likes on the piano. (I don't play, and we were just given an organ by my Mom, so this has been a real effort. I'm going to sound like a kid at her first recital, but that's ok!) It's a bluegrass song called "Paradise" by John Prine.
My older daughter drew the duo of my daughter in law and our 1yo granddaughter. I'm helping her make seasoning blends (taco, meatloaf, chili, etc.) for our DIL and for our Granddaughter/Niece we'll make super bubbles and a wand for blowing them, and homemade play dough.
My Mom drew my older daughter's name. I'm helping her paint a rectangular bulletin board to look like a Nintendo Switch console, as my daughter is into gaming.
My husband drew our youngest daughter's name, so I'll help him make a painted sign for her room (she's getting a bedroom makeover after New Year's day). Her bedroom will be mushroom themed so he's painting a plaque that has a stenciled mushroom on it (toadstool) and says "Paisley's 'Shroom" (get it...Paisley's Room).
We always enjoy our homemade gifts. We've had food gifts, picture books, recipe and herbal remedy books, prayer boxes, coat rack, smelly good products, etc. So much fun to see who got your name and what they thought up for you!
Merry Christmas and God bless you in the new year!

when my son was little, i used to get ritz crackers and spread peanut butter on one and then put another cracker on top. melt chocolate and either dip the whole cracker sandwich? never know what to call it.. or dip half the cracker sandwich. i also used to put equal parts peanut butter and marshmellow cream and stir it together.. doesn't have to be mixed all the way. spread that between two graham crackers or roll them up into a ball. my son loved to eat it just like that. or if i rolled it up in a ball.. i would roll it in graham cracker crumbs and or peanuts or melted chocolate or chocolate chips. its very versital. it was nice to have when i didn't have a lot of money.

What wonderful recipe ideas! I am doing some cookie boxes and some homemade peanut butter cups this year for some friends/family. I tried to keep my gifts for my immediate family to be practical items that people could use which I got locally. My friend gifts are the cookie boxes and candy. I was under budget too! I finished my shopping and wrapping of the immediate family gifts by Thanksgiving. I definitely like to do experience gifts but due to COVID and not being super safe to do some stuff in person I tried to do gifts that I knew my family would use and would not go to waste. Hoping next year things are better so I can go back to doing more experience type gifts like taking my nephews to the movies or bringing my nieces to the Aquarium, or taking my mom to afternoon tea…that sort of stuff.

Great simple recipes. Thank you for sharing. I knit dish cloths and crochet pot scrubbers for gifts. My daughters ask for them in their favourite colours.

I am for sure going to be making these recipes. Especially the candied pecans! Our daughter married and moved to Kansas. We were there all last week and I really missed you two. I came home, made a cup of coffee and sat down a d caught up. Thank you for all the preparation and work you do to have videos for all of us. Merry Christmas and God Bless

I have collected a host of chains and charms and am taking them to our family gathering. Everyone can make their own individual pendant or necklace. I have choices for all including letters for names or inspiration, lots of sport choices for the boys , pretty enamels for girls as well. It should be a hoot. Love your homemade sweets, I will use them next year. Thank you both for a wonderful 2021. Wishing you all the best for the Christmas season and a glorious New Year. Cheers from a sunny warm patio with accompanying birdsong, there is nothing so lovely as having magpies carroling. 🦘😁

Great episode! I especially appreciate the recipe for the candied pecans. I've been researching them online and many of them seem extremely complicated. I'm going to try this one. I wish you and your entire family peace during this holy season.

Yummy! Great ideas. If a little old lady comes knocking at your door pretending to be your neighbor it might be me. I love candied pecans. Christopher Heideman had a You Tube video of simple snacks that looked good to.

I’m watching some of your old videos from Christmas. I made the fudge yesterday. Super easy and it tastes wonderful. However, my two layers didn’t stick together well. After cooking and cutting, the peanut butter wanted to separate from the chocolate so I had to kind of smoosh it. What did I do wrong? Still looks pretty and tastes decadent.
I had a bunch of pecans but instead of making candied pecans, I made muddy buddy pecans. Those, the fudge and some thin mint cookies plated together very prettily. I’ll be taking them to my son’s house tomorrow.
    Merry Christmas, Emmy and Paul!
