Ronny's background and his current role on the Daily Show give him good and unique perspectives on american/asian-american life. I look forward to more of his comedy which is going to evolve and grow.
This is the best interview I've seen of Ronny, but like not at all because Andrew was a good interviewer-lmfao Ronny was so correct that Andrew wasn't really listening to his answers and just kept asking questions and never seemed to ask follow-up questions. I think just because they appear to be friends, Ronny seemed more comfortable and less combative/harsh as in other interviews
The jaded Asian American vs the appreciative Asian Immigrant. Ronny doesent give a F about Andrew's negative USA thinking. I agree with Ronny. Its worrisome that Americans are turning against Pros & Experts, & support the loud "Average Joe" types now. David Fung was also right when he basically said "American Liberalism and Conservatism are just the insane versions of them".
Love Ronny Chieng! My entire family flew out to NY this to see him at Radio City Music Hall -- but for different shows LOL. It was sorta crazy. I went the night they cordoned off the front w police tape... bc there was some shooting? a police chase? something horrendous like that... and yet we laughed that night! Thx Ronny.
Ronny's very cool, love his humor, he's by far the funniest and sharpest on the Daily Show, the others are far, far behind. Being Asian, Ronny needs to be 100x better than anyone else in order to reach the same level. It's weird he and Andrew are bickering here, but I get it. It didn't go so well with Ronny and Jimmy O. Yang, either. I think this is a case of a fairly polite Asian who immigrated as a young adult vs. a "cooler-acting" ABC or 1.5. Ronny is faux-aggressive in his comedy style, like Bill Burr, but in person, he's probably very polite and sweet, with a softer vibe, the way most immigrants are. That's the way they are in Asia. I kind of get the dynamics between these two. It doesn't even have to be between an ABC and immigrant. It can be between any two Asian Americans where one is more overtly "cool," like Andrew, and one is more dorky/plain. Andrew is talking over Ronny, acting pretty aggressive, and this is the same as how non-Asians or other Asians (e.g., "cooler" Vietnamese Americans) act towards the Fung Bros. Andrew has a more confident vibe than David, who seems a little nicer and sweeter, vaguely. Ronny is an immigrant, so he doesn't really care how some ABCs like Andrew act towards him, he wasn't born and raised in the West, so he can brush anything off. I think there's a similar painful dynamic between TwoSet Violin (Brett Yang & Eddy Chen) and Ray Chen, though they're all born in Taiwan, and immigrated to Brisbane, Australia at a young age. And they're all famous violinists who have a strong online presence. Brett & Eddy are more genuine and dorky-looking, while Ray is more conventionally handsome, with a "smooth" vibe. So Ray's going to look down on and bully Brett & Eddy, and they have nothing but deep respect towards everyone, including Ray. They had a falling out with Ray that they announced on a recent livestream (they're no longer doing TwoSet videos), and I'm guessing this uneven "cooler Western Asian to less cool ones" dynamic is behind the falling out. It's probably because Ray was bullying them and being difficult and impossible to work with. Unfortunately, "cooler" Western Asians can be almost as rude and stereotyping to some other Asians as non-Asians are. That's why some Asians even in enclaves are bullied and don't get far. By "Asian," I mean mainly ethnic Chinese, and I don't know if what I'm saying applies to other Asian ethnicities as much.
I understand the point Andrew is critical towards America because Andrew has more Asian American unique interactions than Ronnie. Ronnie just comes across as a bit of a teachers pet like he is not going to bite the hand that feeds him kinda of thing. But maybe that’s due to him not being American. There are definitely comedians like Jon Stewart who are not afraid to rock the boat but he also has the privilege of being American.
That’s smart thinking even though we have different opinion we also have to be open minded to hear what others have to say. Allow others to express their opinions and reason to their opinions.
4:15 he has a certain privilege to not take it personally because at any given time he has the luxury (resources) to leave. Frankly, just disconnected from the US. He's here for work and that's it.
They're insecure. That's what it comes down to. They try to mask it with a certain persona and look, but they never overcome it. And they behave abusively toward those whose appearance reminds them of what they don't like about themselves.
Went to watch him in Minneapolis. Ronnie, Ali, and Randall proves that you dont need to be a caracature to be a successful comedian in the West. Anyone can make people laugh at you. Only the talented can make people laugh with you.
YO! Spotting out on Doyers!!! It's a YouTUBE !!! M a y b e !!!! instead of wings, you could ramp up progressively hotter different types of Asian spices on Bao's (or various Asian appetizers) Call it "Hot Bao's" between questions! Or maybe on the courts during a game of "Horse" or 1:1 @ Grand St. ? OR In between Chinatown cheap eat locations!!! OR in-between rounds in a dojo studio? Ronny Chieng should be a regular guest on the show !!! Really appreciate all the entertaining banter and the underlying tone that u guys seem to be truly legitimate friends.
The amount of TV time and movie roles he get, he is already living almost like one in the US. And do you know how many multi-millionaire Singaporeans are in Malaysia?
I’ve been a fung bro fan for like 10 years and I always feel like they have no funny bone when it comes to taking heat themselves. They jab passive aggressively. Am I wrong? The dudes are so cool but they seem like they hold themselves so high.
Nothing wrong with that. 'Woke' is just being considerate of other people's way of being and not just believing what is 'typical' is always right. Plenty of times throughout history what was 'normal' was pretty abhorrent by today's standards. Bear that in mind.
Btw if it’s not clear, us and Ronny are friends. Bickering and aggressiveness is part of our natural dynamic 😂😂😅
This is so gei...
Just a couple of young black entrepreneurs supporting each other, love to see it
Ronny is the Man... wished he was around and as big in the 2000's but glad he's around today
I mean, he couldn't have been this famous in the 2000s.
I love Ronny! I don’t know what it is but I trust him.
Great to see Asian entertainers and creators supporting each other!

Hmm that’s a good take. Didn’t think about the friendship part. I felt like Andrew wasn’t bouncing off his comebacks great

You can tell Ronny doesn’t care about what other people think. This is so refreshing to see.

Good interview
I love Ronny ❤ So funny 😘
❤ the old-couple bickering between Ronny + Fung Bros
New immigrants bring hope into this country. Old immigrants are disenchanted of what it used to be when they were new immigrants.
Its dope that its out on Doyer st! You can do more interviews outside..Get Jimmy O yang out there!
Love this!
Underrated Larry Kwong hoodie, just ordered one after, thx.
Marketing ploy to get people to buy? 😂
Hiiiiii Andrew!!! Are ya still on NYC whilst David moved to Thailand?
That’s smart thinking even though we have different opinion we also have to be open minded to hear what others have to say.

Ronny Chieng is awsome!

He’s happy because he’s a foreigner earning USD$ and can live like a king when he goes back home
The amount of TV time and movie roles he get, he is already living almost like one in the US. And do you know how many multi-millionaire Singaporeans are in Malaysia?
Why is the music so loud? And why are there so many cuts?
I can barely hear the dialogue
How about an Asian guy who’s not a comedian, not kung fu artist , not BTS dancer pop but just an Asian American A list actor like Brad Pitt .
Yes.
what an akward interaction...hard to watch
SS Panda Daytona on Ronny.
watching this, I know Ronny is a Republican, if you can make fun of both sides, I know where you stand and I love it lol.
I want Kurt to do a third Escape from Molokai

saw the Netflix special, he's kinda woke.....
Nothing wrong with that. 'Woke' is just being considerate of other people's way of being and not just believing what is 'typical' is always right. Plenty of times throughout history what was 'normal' was pretty abhorrent by today's standards. Bear that in mind.
What does WOKE even mean exactly?
@MrJohneblaze822 Idk what people mean by that anymore. It's essentially the electoral college.
People being soft now
Small things hurt them and you got be PC about everything

Wing chun isn’t useful . Train Muay Thai and bjj
7:54 if you’re not convinced then go look at Ukraine.

This interview was painful to watch
Scissor 7 va
Ronny’s a humble dude. Unsubscribe 😂
LOL never sold out. He never had any sales to begin with; oh snap
Ronny is pretty funny at times however I hate his stance on politics, he needs to stay away from politics.
Why are you afraid he hurt your feelings?
What's his politics?
