Both are great reels. BG holds up better in the SW though. I have a whole slew of them, use em from everything from croaker and flounder, to stripers and blues inshore and even mahi and skipjack in the ocean.
I’m a Shimano guy, seriously looking at the Nasci for inshore/ flats use. I have Shimano Sienna’s, Sedonas (Fi and FJ) and they have performed fanastic for me on Red Fish. I’ve never dumped them in the surf though, which is why the Nasci is on my radar.
@@TheDiamondLadderit’s an awesome reel I own 2 of them no complaints except for thin braided line gets caught in a wierd gap in the bail every once in awhile

It also makes all kinds of popping and cracking noises when fighting large fish. Has anyone else had this problem? I am wondering if I have a faulty product. My BGs and smaller shimano spheros/stradics have way more torque than thing
Bit late to the comments but you probably flexing the shit out of it and the gears of skipping. Expecting too much out of it. Try pumping and reeling rather than skull dragging
I own 4 bgs in different sizes and 1 big mq and I absolutely love them!!! Keel wanting to try different but they just work so well and are very strong and smooth!!!
Honestly the BG is the best bang for the buck reel I’ve ever used. The Nasci is at a odd price point IMHO. For 30 more you could get a spheros inshore or for 20 less you could get the new Sahara , which is basically the old nasci.
The bg is horrible for saltwater though. If you dink by accident it's done. My daughter has the new nasci and she's dunked it 2 times already and all I've done was rinse it off and it's still smooth as butter.
Nasci hands down. My daughter sank hers 2 times and all I have done is rinsed off and that's it. Still smooth as butter , no rust and no corrosion Had the bg 2500 and 3000 sank the 3000 1 time and rinsed off and cleaned and it rusted / corroded from the inside out Plus the bg is super heavy vs the Nasci. The miravel is more a of a lightweight reel. It’s great for artificials inshore, but I would hesitate to do much heavier offshore fishing with it. The BG or Nasci would be a better choice for that

It has significantly more drag than the other two and feels a little bit smoother imho. However, the warranty and service would be worth the price to me
Penn battle 3 should be in that line up. If I was saltwater fishing, the Diawa BG. If inshore or freshwater, then shimano. The Nasci had felt drag washers, the shimano has carbon fiber drag washers. My choice would be Diawa BG between the two. I have the Nasci but for fresh water. Nice reel. Might upgrade the drag washers to carbon.
@@aaronhiggs dead on. That's what I do. Felt washers are not bad , but if you happen to hook a good fish and one falls apart it will lock up your drag badly and you'll lose the fish.
